We were going to be on the actual side street where it took place today, but my wife was wearing her nice watch and I took a different exit and we went to a different town.

It has been fancy watches lately, which is why I don't wear my Rolex anymore.

I got tired of reading towards the end. His idea is that the culture wars divide the middle classes who ought to be uniting to overturn neoliberalism and the rich.

There's something in that, but the country has to be kicked around a lot more before things change. "Structural change" of one sort or another will come sooner or later, maybe even before it's too late, but just abusing the puny Americans for their disagreements gets boring after a while. That Epps was in violation of the law but not charged is in the Times story. Another protestor, with a gun and an earpiece was, like Epps, on the FBI wanted list, but was removed without explanation. I hope the people who have downloaded the torrents don't live in the U.S. If the feds will raid O'Keefe's home looking for a diary that he had tried to return already, imagine what they will do over computers with this data.

That's when the president proceeded to talk about women being tied up and put in cars by traffickers.

And those are the only recordings they are releasing to defense lawyers. The DOJ/FBI are now the KGB, the utterly corrupt enforcement arm of a permanent one-party regime. But as I said, and Gadfly quoted, but apparently didn't read, "Ray Epps is the least of it". There were guys who removed the signs and fencing that would have kept people out of the Capitol. There was a guy with a bullhorn who climbed the scaffold and shouted instructions to enter the Capitol for a couple hours. Someone inside the guard station in the Capitol opened the magnetic locks on the gigantic doors, or no one could have entered. That link is indeed to an article from last year. But it was true then, and it is true now. It is highly revealing that the people claiming to investigate the illegal entry at the Capitol show zero interest in the people most clearly responsible for that entry.; 7/10/22, 1:31 PM
