"In its most interesting form, bimboism also makes a connection between the ideas of pleasure — sexual pleasure, pleasure in clothes, pleasure in simply existing as a woman in the world with a body on display — and political gains that would make it more possible, like universal health care, student loan debt cancellation and abortion rights.... For [TikTok-er Chrissy] Chlapecka, her bimbo persona is a bit, but it’s also a bit serious: She really does want us to look at her boobs. It’s performance of a version of her personality at high octane, one that she invites her audience to participate in themselves — have you considered that you, too, could be a bimbo, and that it might be fun?"
From "Meet the Self-Described ‘Bimbos’ of TikTok" by Sophie Haigney (NYT).
Quote from Chlapecka that begins the essay: "Are you a leftist who likes to have their tits out? Do you like to flick off pro-lifers?"
I don't remember seeing the word "bimboism" before, but, googling, I can see it has currency. Here's Vice from back in February — "Bimbofication Is Taking Over. What Does That Mean for You?/'Are you a hyperfeminine woman? Are you really hot?'"
The modern-day bimbo is a fresh approach to intersectional feminism. There is, actually, careful thought behind bimbology, and it could be a way to reach true liberation....
[Chlapecka] answered the question: “Who is the Gen Z bimbo?” “A bimbo isn’t dumb. Well, she kind of is, but she isn’t that dumb! She’s actually a radical leftist, who’s pro sex work, pro Black Lives Matter, pro LGBTQ+, pro choice, and will always be there for her girlies, gays and theys”....
The idea of weaponised unintelligence isn’t new – the trope is intertwined with the canon of “old Hollywood” bimbos over the years....
[F]or many feminists whose coming of age was centred around girlbossification – constantly hustling for rights and recognition, accepting eking “progress” on the never-ending crawl up the hypothetical ladder – it represents a shift towards finding empowerment by simply refusing to participate....
While girlboss feminism says, “I may be a girl, but I can climb the status quo’s ladder and succeed in capitalism just like any other man!” Bimboism says, “I am literally just here to vibe. Either vibe with me or leave me alone.”

Should be bimba. And hussy sounds better.
It seems to me that Derrida's interview with Christine McDonald Choreographies (pdf) covers today's topic, more or less exactly. Read five pages. It starts with feminist Emma Goldman's "If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution."
Derrida couldn’t understand Shakespeare.

Hot tip, guys: Don't bother looking at her booblets.

Yeah, we have heard about that tampon shortage.
Funny. The word "courtesan" comes to mind and I can't figure out why.
Well, yes I can.
As usual, the socialist/feminist idea of "independence" is to have someone else - primarily men - pay for what you want, whether that's college, health care, or etc.
Feminists still haven't figured out that trading a sugar daddy for Uncle Sugar is not a move toward independence.

Ah the pendulum swings.
Really this is just feminists being honest about what they are trying to do in the end.
They just want everything, without any responsibility.
"Are you a leftist who likes to have their tits out? Do you like to flick off pro-lifers?"
This is the legacy of Feminism boiled down into 18 words.
Be proud of your work.

Well, yes I can.
You can just call them part of Bill's Democrat single Woman Harem.
A lot of harem girls liked their lot in life.
Until they turned 30 and were cast out.
But now after they are cast out of the Harem Democrat women turn into childless shreiky Karens who lash out in bitterness over their failed lives.
Bimbo appropriation.
It’s an inauthentic world.
Wait, wait ... don't tell me ...
It's empowering ...
"There is something compelling in the idea that women shouldn’t have to prove their economic worth or intelligence as a way of arguing for their self-worth and independence."
"... that all men [construed in our more enlightened age as gender-unspecific] are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights..."
So, that much is true.
But the respect and approval of others is not a right, and does - or should - depend on your actual worth. Too often it doesn't; but that's not specific to women. The good-looking, the well-connected, the high-ranking get automatic respect they may not deserve.
"There is something compelling in the idea that women shouldn’t have to prove their economic worth or intelligence as a way of arguing for their self-worth and independence."
And Woman Lives Matter is born.
Thanks for reminding me that Vice.com is deservedly about to go out-of-business.
"The modern-day bimbo is a fresh approach to intersectional feminism. There is, actually, careful thought behind bimbology, and it could be a way to reach true liberation."
What a load of crap. This is just part of a broader social trend, which some people call "the pornification of all things."
Back in my college days, we defined a Bimbo as someone who was sexually available on a retail scale and not very smart.
and political gains that would make it more possible, like universal health care, student loan debt cancellation...
If we could just enslave the icky men to cover our costs, we could be "liberated," we could lean into the hot men.
'How do you write women so well..." we all know how the line ends.
We need a serious war, a great depression or famine. Something is needed to get people’s attention off this kind of nonsense and onto important matters. The peace and prosperity, we just can’t handle it.
What sort of people are they talking about again?
Whoever coined the phrase "it takes all kinds" clearly had never been exposed to TicTok.
First, gross. She doesn't meet the definition given.

What? I could barely bring myself to care enough to make the first point.
"We need a serious war, a great depression or famine. Something is needed to get people’s attention off this kind of nonsense and onto important matters."
Be careful what you wish for! The way things are lining up, we may get all three at one time. Especially with an assist from those who insist that we can all do just fine without fossil fuels, which actually do a LOT MORE than just transportation and electrical generation. Ooops!
"compelling in the idea that women shouldn’t have to prove their economic worth or intelligence or hotness"

It was inevitable bimbos would get a role model.
"Elaine, he's a male bimbo. He's a mimbo."
"There is something compelling in the idea that women shouldn’t have to prove their economic worth or intelligence as a way of arguing for their self-worth and independence."
IOW, there is something compelling in the idea that women are special. They should just get stuff without having to prove their economic worth or intelligence.
"In its most interesting form, bimboism also makes a connection between the ideas of pleasure — sexual pleasure, pleasure in clothes, pleasure in simply existing as a woman in the world with a body on display — and political gains"
Because women are so special that simply existing as women in the world entitles them political gains.
"'Are you a hyperfeminine woman? Are you really hot?'"
Questions never asked by any woman! This never crossed anyone's mind! Boobs, and the showing of them: what a novel concept!
Anyway, there are bimbos and bimbos. Lefty NYT-approved version, which in the case of Ms. C tries way too hard, approaches a danger zone on the hot-crazy matrix.
This seems sort of like the articles about male CEOs who bark orders during the week, then spend their weekends paying to be pushed around by a dominatrix. For many people, it seems as if what they want in their fantasies (such as giving up power) is the exact opposite of what they want in their real lives (having more power). But what happens when your fantasies spill over into your real life?
Women are God’s last and greatest work of art. Where would men be without them. And most of them are smarter too. Wasting them in industrial work is a dirty trick.
and political gains that would make it more possible, like universal health care, student loan debt cancellation...
Men see this as the flip side of "He's never gonna buy the cow if you give him the milk for free." Give her all of that stuff, and she won't need men.
And, just askin', but couldn't you learn to be a bimbo off of TickTock or YouTube and avoid all of the student loan debt? Intelligence and economic value are out, so why the expense school? Maybe just go to State U and audit classes to meet guys and absorb what you need by osmosis. Finding a place to sleep will never be a problem.
"There is something compelling in the idea that women shouldn’t have to prove their economic worth or intelligence as a way of arguing for their self-worth and independence."
It's called "affirmative action".
30 years of the left loudly and angrily claiming, against all evidence, that women have the same wants, desires, goals and aptitudes as men have.
Now these articles are cropping up everywhere.
This is just reality getting the last at bat, as it always does.
Seems bimboism is meant to suggest some elitism over other porn actresses or strippers. Instead of just selling views of their tits for money; modern bimbos want money and fealty to their political beliefs. This makes Nina Burleigh a bimbo. Your terms, um term, is acceptable.
In its most interesting form, bimboism also makes a connection between the ideas of pleasure — sexual pleasure, pleasure in clothes, pleasure in simply existing as a woman in the world with a body on display — and political gains that would make it more possible, like universal health care, student loan debt cancellation and abortion rights.
This is not at all what I would call 'interesting': hedonism and Progressivism seem already to be everywhere. Quite why the authoress sees something novel in this is beyond me-- I guess 'feminism' felt for quite a few years to have had a certain seriousness of purpose that belied the open embrace of the hedonistic part of it.
...women...arguing for their ...independence.
...would make it more possible, like universal health care, student loan debt cancellation...
I don't think that word means what you think it means
This how feminists/masculinists denigrated women who did not take a knee to their affordable, available, and taxable ideology, and who did not go along to get along with the Liberals' wicked solution for social progress.
The women following a bimbo lifestyle with whom I am personally acquainted (co-workers and people I went to high school with) love babies. And they frequently end up living on child support payments.
The term Bimbo refers to a clown famous for wearing a lot of make up and doing performatively dumb stuff.
IMO "himbo" is better than "mimbo" for the male of the species.
I await a scholarly typology of Bimbos, Bitches, Sluts, Ladettes and all like sistern.
“ We need a serious war, a great depression or famine. Something is needed to get people’s attention off this kind of nonsense and onto important matters. The peace and prosperity, we just can’t handle it.”
Wouldn’t matter. Classic NYT headline: World ends; women, minorities hardest hit.

Give us stuff for free and don't hold us accountable for our actions, that way we can be happy!
Two things: 1. We don't care if you're happy. It's up to each of us to develop our potential and earn our way in the world. 2. If everything is handed to you, you won't be happy.
Haven't fallen for that old trick since grade school: "Look at me!" followed by, "Why are you looking at me, creep!"
It's wild how confident women are that they understand what it's like to live as a man. They're convinced men can't ever understand their lives, of course.
They really seem to believe that as a man you don't have to constantly prove yourself, your worth, your accomplishments, your abilities, etc, in order to be so much as seen by women, much less respected. The same women who celebrate each other just for existing wouldn't dare befriend an unattractive, unaccomplished man, much less think about dating him!
Oh wow, you can embrace your inner bimbo and feel free to enjoy attention and praise for your body and slutty attitude?! What a great thing for you, how empowering!
Part of "female privilege" is being wholly unable to understand your own privilege.
