I hope they are compatible.

Monkeypox might now be spreading exponentially

[Trigger Warning! Politically incorrect material follows.]

'...Meanwhile, evidence continues to mount that gay men are the subpopulation most at risk of infection. The number of confirmed cases across the U.S. doubled in the past week to 20, but “[o]f the 17 patients that have provided detailed information to the CDC, 16 self-identified as men who have had sex with men.”'

That matches what scientists in other countries have seen. Monkeypox hasn’t traditionally been an STD — in the past it spread through airborne droplets during sustained close contact — but it turns out that an outbreak in Nigeria five years ago also had a sexual component..."

'...I’ll leave you with this bit from The Atlantic, which raises the prospect of widespread infection causing the virus to evolve. It may mutate slowly but it does mutate to become fitter.

Quote: “Poxviruses tend to accumulate mutations at a fairly slow rate of one or two a year, but the genomes from 2022 have a whopping 47 mutations. Intriguingly, almost all of the changes to the genetic code are TC to TT or GA to AA.

This is unlikely to have happened through random copying error; instead it resembles the signature of an immune-system mechanism—found in both humans and animals—that introduces mutations in an attempt to disable the virus.” The more people it infects, the more mutations there’ll be.'

Always something else to worry about.

For several weeks our mail delivery has been very erratic. More recently we've been getting calls from regular billers to check our address--different outfits are having mail returned as undeliverable or no such address.

My wife checked with some neighbors and they too have have been having these experiences; just tonight my wife saw a lady from a block west who we rarely see out--the middle two numbers of our addresses transpose and we often get each other's stuff--and she too is affected.

We had one guy for a long time but he retired and we don't know the new people very well. Lots of turnover and honestly some of them look pretty sketchy.

We haven't had any problem with Amazon, UPS or FedEx that we know of, but we don't get a lot those ways anyway; not the lbs of junk and bills we get from USPS normally.

it was sublime--but was it really a phase change?

Progressivism is like a train headed to the center of crazytown. When people get on they think that the train just needs to go just a little bit further down the track, but as it hurtles down the track, further and further, faster and faster they realize that they should have gotten off a few stops before. They discover too late that the progressive train has no brakes. They were warned by others who had already gotten off, of course, but they just chalked the warnings up to fallacious slippery slope arguments. They discover, finally that progressivism isn’t on a slippery slope. It is driving headlong into crazytown with giant diesel engines going full throttle. The problem with progressivism is in the name. It’s only purpose is to keep moving. There is no goal but to take the next step. How else can you make sense of the fact that the progressives will unashamedly defend the sexual perversion and mutilation of 5 year olds. They will not stop until we stop them. Just getting off the train isn’t good enough.

So, I saw a blurb that said the brewers were going to have a drag performance on tranny day. Isn’t that like having a bunch of white guys performing a rain dance on Native American day. First, what business does baseball celebrating transsexualism, and second what serious disrespect they are showing real transexuals by conflating them with transvestism. Sports don’t need to highlight every minor special group. Shut up and play baseball.

Elvis had the same problem! But you have a real solution - guaranteed to work in today's digital world - Zip+4. Every number on every street, apartment, suite, and PO box now has a unique +4 number.

So send address changes to include Zip+4 to all correspondents, even to the non-bitchers. And of course, we need to get an honest Postmaster General.

It's kind of like Scott Dixon's disqualification for exceeding the pit lane speed limit by 1 mph on his final stop in the 106th Indy 500. Damn those progressives for making and enforcing unbendable rules.

exactly! Progressives MUST Progress.. Like sharks, if they don't keep moving forward; they die.
homosexuality? check, must move to next cause
gay marriage? check, must move to next cause
adult transism? check, must move to next cause
child transism? latest thing! MUST MAKE THIS OKAY!!!
once they get this, what's next? I predict polygamy; but it might be child brides
one thing is For Sure.. It WILL be something, there is ALWAYS something.

Sunset swim last night at our local Center Mass Pond. The big male eagle was fishing. Water still a bit chilly and the breeze made it seem much colder.

There is always something else to worry about, especially when the biggest industry on the planet's profits require their customer-products to be kept at a mouth foaming fever pitch teetering back and forth between Shadenfraude and despair. Worry and fear eats up your soul.

Just say no. Go climb a rock. Reclaiming your inner caveman is radical civil disobedience.

Western culture is bored with itself. For the culture industry to keep running it has to keep finding marginal or deprived or disadvantaged groups. Activist groups form for those groups and foundations give them money. Academia, which is also bored with itself, particularly in the humanities, develops theories for those groups and turns out more activists. The media mainstreams their grievances and demands bringing them into the realm of politics and government who then use their power to enforce the new agenda.

There will always be "progressives," but in the past just what constituted "progress" was clearer and more agreed upon, or at least acceptable and beneficial to the majority. Now it's all about fringe causes. I don't see that changing, because Western society is still going to be bored with itself, and guilty, and uncertain about what to do. Today's progressivism is born and nurtured in that vacuum.

He wasn't disqualified. He was penalized. The penalty was a drive through of pit lane. He finished 21st.

Did the Indigenes paddle board? Is this guy doing it in accordance with the (oral) Scriptures of the Tribes? If not, why not? Surely that’s the least of the tributes that he can offer the spirits of the rightful owners of he lake?
