At the Monday Night Café...

So Woody Allen is not canceled, apparently.

I went looking for the title to one of his early movies (to comment on coast gramma) and was surprised to see a bunch of titles I hadn’t heard about.

Now I have something to look forward to.

From the archives: "Gov. Romney, I'm glad you recognize al-Qaida is a threat, because a few months ago when you were asked what is the biggest geopolitical group facing America, you said Russia, not al-Qaida, you said Russia. And the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back. Because the Cold War has been over for 20 years." (Barack Obama Oct 22,2012)

Now we have the Putin gas price hike, the Putin food price increase, the Putin fertilizer shortage, the Putin popcorn shortage and soon to be blamed by President Klain for the baby formula shortage. I could be wrong, but as I recall Putin's home base is east of Ukraine in Mother Russia.

Something just made sense to me.

Why the insistence that everybody get covid vaccinated?

It would remove the control group, which in the eventuality of a massive negative effect, could show the agent responsible, the novel covid vaccines. vaccine everybody and blame it on... climate change, should something go wrong. Brilliant CYA.

Check out a great interview.

Stupidest thing I saw on TV today was Joe Scarborough claiming that the reason all those cops didn't go in after the Uvalde shooter was that they were OUT-GUNNED! Supposedly, they knew the kid had a fearsome WEAPON OF WAR and that they had NO CHANCE against him. Of course, if Joe had even glanced at any footage of all the armed cowards hanging around outside the school that day, he would have seen that every one of them had the EXACT SAME GUN. And if they were SWAT, their guns might have even been full-auto. And... do you know why Joe thinks people are buying all these WEAPONS OF WAR? So they can easily kill the cops coming to serve warrants on them!
You may wonder why I bother watching this crap, but it's an easy way to get fired up in the morning. A half hour of Morning Joe is the equivalent of injecting several cups of coffee straight into your veins!

Watching A Fine Madness with Sean Connery, Joanne Woodward, and Jean Seberg. I wondered why this movie, made at the height of Bond-mania in 1966 with Connery as an alcoholic, oversexed, misognynistic, violent, abusive poet and carpet cleaner, was so overlooked. I don't wonder anymore. It's not a great picture. Still, watching anything shot on location in the Sixties, Seventies, or Eighties is a little like going back in a time machine.

I also have Whoopi Goldberg's early film The Telephone. I like the team -- Terry Southern, Rip Torn, Severn Darden, Elliot Gould, John Heard, Harry Nilsson -- but hate Whoopi, so I will probably hate the movie. But then I guess I like hating things.

Not to be mean (really), but this theory has been floated for awhile now...

My wife, and I traveled to San Diego for a memorial. The much smaller hotel in San Diego quarters forced me to hear her TV choices.

All I heard on the TV, was that the democrats are still voting against Donald Trump. There was a former Marine running for a local position, and he listed himself as conservative.

You are burning too many brain cells on a non-issue, Lem. People died from SARS-CoV-2. The virus is transmitted readily among groups of humans. A miracle series of vaccines were developed which worked 90% of the time. Vaccination saves your life and the lives of all those exposed to the virus, especially your family and loved ones. So why would there be any further thinking about vaccinations?

The stupidest thing I read today was about anybody actually watching Joe Scarborough on TV.

We visited Coronado Island over the weekend. Yes, the Seals still test their mettle in the surf.

We rented a room on Orange Ave. in Coronado (The Crown Inn, and Bistro serves a great breakfast). I could buy a bottle of wine at the Coronado Island RiteAid, but I could not buy a cork screw.

At the Von's next door, I could buy a bottle, and a cork-screw. Go figure!!

****************

Today, I drove north to visit my son. I thought I needed a cup of coffee, and I stopped at the Starbucks by the freeway in Burlington, WA. The barista asked about cream, and sugar.

I thought that's curious, "The cream and sugar should be on the counter immediately behind me."

Are you kidding me?? The homeless are taking advantage of the fringe benefits provided by the coffee shop. Starbucks has pushed the cream, and sugar behind the counter!! The homeless were living on hot water, cream, sugar at the Starbucks.

Just sayin'........

I had a thought(just the one:0))-

We talked about micro aggressions, how asking where you were from is an insult. Is it only insulting to minorities? Or people w/accents? Idk- I always thought it was inclusive, finding a common ground or knowing the same people etc.

Anyway, around here we(I) associate my name as my identity. I’m so-and-so’s daughter/I’m a (insert last name here).

In a society of broken families or non-traditional families- that kind of doesn’t work, anymore. The explanation would be too confusing. So, kids need an identity and are making their own. Family names mean nothing- they’re changing them. Rather than commonalities, they’re seeking- what? Notoriety? A way to be more unique and memorable?

Idk- maybe that’s all subliminal.

I heard that bit myself. I had a three hour drive, to make a field visit, so sirius radio lets me scan the 3 cable shows. Joe and his paramour, are particularly odious. They just spew lies with no push back. Yesterday was very heavy on Jan 6. Desperate to gin up outrage where non exists.

Yes. That was posted by a Biden voter. You have to have read something about Joe Biden that compelled you to vote for him. Kudos though on knowing how to read.

Cannot get reloading powder for love nor money locally. What is available online is double what it was a year ago. This is for clays so I go through a lot.

The high profile arrest of former Trump aid Peter Navarro orchestrated by the "bi-partisan" (gag me) January 6 committee is particularly galling. Outrage is too mild in describing it.

Woody Allen isn't cancelled, but it may well be that fear of being cancelled is what has destroyed his art, It's just set piece crapola now, possibly it gets better, to be honest, it couldn't hold my attention, maybe he is just too old. I mean this is the guy behind "Ants," which was a paeon to socialism, so maybe he really believes in it. I would watch "A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy" again though, if it were available to stream.

It's kind of interesting the kinds of things you learn watching Bloomberg, for instance, during the pandemic, while energy demand was low, the Bided administration followed a policy of forcing refineries into shutdowns based on the idea that when the pandemic was over, we would replace them with 'renewables.' Well the pandemic is over and the 'renewables' are not here, and the very people in charge of energy policy who created these high prices, see them as a good thing. This is why the global warming fundamentalists hate democracy, when politicians cause economic dislocation like this, which harms large swaths of the population, if not so much, the Democrat's base of wealthy voters and public transportation users, well they get thown out. You get a leader like Trump who is looking out for the little guy.

The mRNA vaccines are OK for older people like me. The incidence of complications in children and teens, who are at zero risk from the virus, is unacceptable.

'So why would there be any further thinking about vaccinations?'

Because nobody knows the long-term implications.

Especially as there is a push to vaccinate 5 year olds.

Try to keep up...

Doc is right about the vax and people keep forgetting that we also have a novel virus, a bat 🦇 virus 🦠 genetically engineered to infect humans, so mRNA is not the only new thing and COVID causes clots.
