So far, it is all black and all gay all the time.

We have had season tickets for the musical series in our nearby city for many years and I have seen this trend growing.

But where will it end? How do you get any more gay (reminds me of a 'Spinal Tap' joke) or more black or more trans?

All I know is, it's extremely tedious, condescending, and preachy, and at some point I will stop buying those very expensive tickets.; 6/12/22, 8:48 PM

We went to the Red Sucks vs. Mariners games yesterday and today. As far as clothing goes, it was still April 1st without requiring gloves and blankets. Flannel shirt. REI vest. NAS Patuxent River sweat shirt. Scarf. Winter coat. Didn't need to raise the sweat shirt hoodie, so it wasn't deep April temperatures. The sweat shirt received mustard enhancements from the lunch hot dog.

We lost today (0-2) because instead of striking out the Rob Refsnyder (2-2 count) to end the inning, Paul Sewald hits him with a pitch and the next batter, Rafael Devers, hits a home run.; 6/12/22, 9:03 PM
Mike of Snoqualmie said...: The house construction passed the electrical inspection on Wednesday, which closes out the rough-frame portion of the Adair build process. The septic system has been installed (drain field, tanks and drain lines). The propane tank has been installed and is hooked up to the house and has a supply line to the whole-house generator location. Inspection is on Tuesday. The ethernet lines (24) and mobile data (4G/5G) lines are in.

Wall and subfloor installation will be this week and permanent power will be completed soon since the electrical rough in passed inspection.

They thought Americans would bite on the global warming hoax. They thought they would bite on the Americans are deplorable schtick. They thought they would bite on the Defund the Cops play. They thought they could import voters by the convoy. They thought that the idea of killing babies would do the trick. None of these plans have worked. So far the only thing that worked for a while was vote fraud, but that might be less available in the future.

What they are banking on now is the little sister in the backseat play. You know what I mean. In the back seat is little sister and big brother. When the parents aren't looking, the little sister will pinch her brother. he will say "cut it out". Parents will yell at the brother to be quiet. Sister does it again, and again, same results. Finally when the brother has had enough, he whacks the sister who bursts out crying and the parents ground the brother for a month after which the little sister gives the brother a big ole smirk.

What we see right now is the Democrats hoping the Republicans will get fed up and do something stupid. Sometimes they think they have it like with the 1/6 protest, or some random shooting, Rittenhouse, Covington, etc. But when the truth eventually comes out, it turns out to be a dud. But that does not mean they don't keep trying. These 30 guys in a Uhaul? Won't be a thing. How do I know this? Because if these guys really WERE going to do something, the FBI would have LET them do it, they they would have their event! But when it turned out it was going to be a dud, they could only go for the conspiracy angle and hope for the best. Right now they are banking on a Barrett or Kavanaugh execution. Don't think they aren't hoping for it. They were hoping for 1/6 to be big, that is why they did not authorize the Guard. They wanted it to get out of hand first. Anyway, back to B and K. With an execution, they hope that the right will get so outraged they do something stupid and then the Dems can justify all kinds of emergency measures to crack down on the right. They are hoping that will be enough to swing the tide in the next election. That is as good an explanation as anything for why they incite their base on RvW and not increase protection on the threatened Justices. Flip the scenario and they would be holding trials for all the right wing doxxers and calling all right wing groups terrorists while putting large details of security around Sotomayor and Kagan.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...: Via Legal Insurrection: The Washington State Supreme Court has issued a sweeping Opinion (pdf.) announcing that whether a person is deemed “seized” by the police must take into account race if the person is “Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC).”

BIPOC status, the court ruled on June 9, 2022, is relevant to whether the person “was not free to leave, to refuse a request, or to otherwise terminate the encounter ….” So two identical factual circumstances of a police encounter maybe result in different judicial results depending on whether the person is BIPOC or not-BIPOC (i.e. white).

BIPOC is the term used a dozen times in the Opinion, but BIPOC is a poorly-defined and broad term that puts otherwise disparate groups into a racial category. It also is a term that can have absurd results, such as Elizabeth Warren arguably qualifying as BIPOC since she claimed to be Native American and was treated at Harvard Law School as a Woman of Color.; 6/13/22, 12:47 AM

Speaking as likely the only person here who has arrested someone irl and had training on performing various detainments, never in my life have I seen Security or Law Enforcement Officers ever perform a detainment/arrest and then turn their backs to the subjects being detained for no other reason than to face the general direction of cameras.

This shit glows so bright its causing solar radiation spikes.

Every single security guard with a license and police officer out of the academy has it drilled into their heads that you never take your eyes off a detained subject, even if they are giving you full compliance. Never would cops arrest a group of masked "terrorists" and number 1 allow them to stay masked and hide their identity from Law Enforcement and number 2 trust them to all behave well enough to just pay them no mind and turn their backs to them in a manner more fitting of a security detail than an arrest.

The ruling came on June 10 as the court accepted former hedge fund CEO David McCormick’s request to discontinue litigation still pending before the court after he narrowly lost a Republican primary contest for a Pennsylvania seat in the U.S. Senate seat against celebrity heart surgeon Mehmet Oz.

In granting McCormick’s application to withdraw, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania made the following order: “In addition, upon consideration of the Application to Vacate Memorandum Opinion and Order of June 2, 2022, (Application to Vacate) filed by Oz [and his campaign], in which [Republican National Committee and the Republican Party of Pennsylvania] join, and the answer filed by the [Acting] Secretary [of the Commonwealth, Leigh Chapman], the Application to Vacate is DENIED.”

My take is that PA's Court did this, not because it cared about the Republican primary race (and the state Republican organization counseled McCormick not to pursue litigation to have the improper ballots counted), but because the Court wants all ballots, even those prohibited by the Commonwealth's own laws, to be counted.
