Sunrise composition.

That's my composition, but not my bike (so don't come after me for the transgression of the no-bikes rule that prevails at this location).

They used to be allowed, but I think they were interfering with the safety and enjoyment of the pedestrians, runners, and babies in carriages that are more numerous and more gentle. Why bikers don’t show deference to walkers, I cannot fathom. They abused the privilege of the shared path. Not all, of course, but enough that the new rule was chosen.; 5/14/22, 7:13 PM
lgv said...: Wide angle lanscape photography tip. Taught by Galen Rowell to the pro who taught me. The biggest problem with landscape images is they have too much and seem flat compared with the depth you see with your own eyes.

Each scene should be composed with elements of near, middle, and far. The bicycle serves as the near. Actually, you should have gotten closer to the bike, or move the bike closer to you (I have done sand dunes where I carried the tumbleweed with me to position close to my camera).

This image has all three elements, near=bike, middle= trees, far=sunset. This is a better composed image than most.

Last tip for everyone. Take an inventory of what is in your shot. The more you list the worse the composition.; 5/15/22, 9:20 AM
