Kellyanne Conway "depicts Trump as a feminist who repeatedly supported and promoted her, allowing her to make history as the first woman..."

"... to manage a winning presidential campaign. 'Donald Trump had elevated and empowered me to the top of his campaign, helping me crack glass ceilings that had never even been dinged before,' she writes, adding that 'angry feminists' should “have at least once in their lives a "girl boss" as generous, respectful, engaging, and empowering as Donald Trump was to me and my other female colleagues.'"

From "In new book, Kellyanne Conway takes aim at many targets — except Trump Part personal chronicle and part political journey, the book is filled with the sorts of barbed one-liners and bon mots that she dispensed on cable news" by Ashley Parker (WaPo).

Also:

In the waning days of his presidency, Conway also writes that, during a discussion with Trump on pardons and clemency, he turned to her and asked, “Do you want one?”

“Do you know something I don’t?” Kellyanne asked Trump, she writes. “Why would I need a pardon?”

“Because they go after everyone, honey. It doesn’t matter,” Trump replied, according the book.

They go after everyone....

The top-rated comment over there is:

"Why would anyone care what this lying harpy has to say? An admitted dispenser of 'alternative facts' her screechy voice made her an assault on both eyes and ears."

That gets some feminist pushback:

"I detest her but your comment reeks of ugly misogyny. The term harpy and pointing out her voice for special loathing. It's possible to find someone detestable without venting sexism."

And:

"Logged on to say the same thing. Harpy and screechy voice are sexist as hell. Men do this often. I’m no fan of hers, but it’s because of her placating TFG and being a phenomenal hypocrite. Stay away from physical attributes next time."

I had to google "TFG." The first hit is a Gail Collins column in the NYT, published February 17, 2021 — "Trump’s Dreaded Nickname"

Sitting in disgraced, double-impeached political purgatory, Trump has been trying to retrain the world to refer to him as “the 45th president” during his unwelcome retirement. (If you are lucky enough to get a mass email from him, the return address will be “45 office.”) How cool would it be if he had to sit in front of the TV listening to people talk about “the former guy?”

D.J.T. = T.F.G.

Perhaps the "dreaded nickname" caught on in some quarters, but I don't remember hearing it before. Collins's dream of what would be cool was not to be. We still hear Trump, Trump, Trump, and it's only going to get louder as we move into the 2024 election season which the disgraced, double-impeached Trump already dominates.

The more we talk about the Trump the less attention is paid to what they are doing now.

Kellyanne is married to Lincoln Project member George Conway. Together, they have raised a very troubled daughter. I’m no fan.

Careful. TFG could be appropriated like ULTRA MAGA.

Even 100 years from now, "twice impeached" will be astersiked with an explanation. What some are trying to claim a bug for President Trump is a feature. It actually shows the Dems to be full crazy town.

I’ve been watching/listening to YouTube and this guy is charming. He looks a lot like one of my cousins- his smile in his eyes. Anyway, this is his critique of his 1st viewing of a Trump rally. I like reaction videos b/c they’re like reading posts/comments here about articles(& TikToks) I would never read, otherwise. I think, w/in the context of Trumps relevancy, it’s spot on.

I admire Kellyanne greatly. She speaks w/knowledge and rarely stumbles.
I think she’s jealous of the love Trump has for his kids. She got as close as possible to him, but it wasn’t as close as Kushner.

No matter how offensive his words, in deeds Trump is an egalitarian who promotes ability. That’s obvious to anyone who sees what they’re looking at.

I've got a dollar that says this comment thread degenerates into a discussion of her "alternative facts" statement on how many people watched the inauguration.

I've got another dollar that says nobody, other than me, goes back to see what she said.

There are already alternate facts, especially with the m5m.

Currently I see, at least daily the "fact" that Russia and Ukraine produce 112 million tons of wheat. That is a true fact

Less frequentlyit is expressed as "almost 15% of total world production" also a true fact.

An "alternative fact" is that Ukraine only produces 26mm tons of wheat. Slightly more than Germany but less than Pakistan.

Ukraine produces about 3% of the world's wheat. That is not nothing but down in that ballpark.

All of the above facts are true. Which ones are presented depends on how the m5m want to spin the narrative. Currently they are pimping global famine so focus on the combined Russia/Ukraine number.

I've also got a dollar that says the famine will be blamed on climate change.

And $20 that says it won't be caused by global climate change. Or the Ukraine war, for that matter.

More rich, white women bitching about nothing.

This has always been the root of feminism. Althouse was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. The trajectory of her career is the proof that her “oppression of women” argument is utter, self-serving bullshit.

But she’s can’t stop bitching. In fact, she’s made a career out of it.

Here’s the proof that the “stereotype” of women is absolutely true. Althouse is the proof. She’s never had anything to bitch about and she’s been bitching nonstop for at least 50 years about nothing. Women will bitch about anything.

She’s just trying to bully you with the misogyny bullshit. Rich white women do this. Kiss her rich ass or you hate all women. What a sadistic con.

Why would she? She seems to have been treated well. She and our president emeritus seem to like each other pretty well.

Did anyone complain about books on Obama that didn't dish on him?

I'm not a huge fan of trump as a leader. To me, his conduct at and after the election was deplorable and he dramatically failed to justify his claims.

But to this day I STILL don't understand the outrage over him pushing Ukraine to investigate Biden's son Hunter's activities in Ukraine. The man is a corruption machine and Trump was literally saying to Ukraine it "looks very bad" - which it does. At best, Hunter was always the worst conflict of interest in the modern history of the white house going back to Obama days. At worst, you've got pay for play and pay for access straight up family-bribery....by foreign government-linked folks who are not allies of the U.S. at the time.

You could say Trump's call was unseemly, as was most of his presidency. But an impeachable call? C'mon.

What is the big problem with the term "alternative facts"? For a given policy issue there may be several actual (true) facts, some of which suggest one solution while others suggest another. For example, nuclear power plants provide reliable and efficient energy without significant CO2 emissions. At the same time, they produce long-lasting radioactive waste and have some risk of serious accidents. Supporters will argue the first set of facts while opponents will argue the second ("alternative") set of facts. But both are, in fact, facts. It is only hyper-Progressives who believe that the only "true facts" are those which support their narrative.

The first time I completely lost my shit at work was immediately after Trump's victory. We come back to work the next day and are eating lunch in the staff room. Almost the first comment was about how ugly Kellyanne was and how bad her make-up was. These were supposedly liberals and feminists mind you. So I stood up and yelled at them about hypocritical they all were. Here we have the first woman to run a winning presidential campaign, and all you can do is talk shit about how she looks. That was the last time I ate lunch in the staff room.

Althouse said: “the disgraced, double impeached Trump”

Since Trump was never “graced” by the establishment, how can he be disgraced? Trump supporters don’t see any authority in the crooked establishment or any amount of disgrace in Trump.

BTW, it’s very interesting that one of Trump’s favorite expressions is “disgraceful’, which I always see as an appeal to join him in what he views as the consensus view. Perhaps you are doing the same in your pronouncement?

I've always thought one of Trump's super powers was finding and relying on smart women. Who else does that? I'm happy that Conway offers support for that view. If modern feminism wasn't subservient to the demands of political BS, it would celebrate Trump.

Ann, I would have thought you know a bit about the law you would know being impeached does not mean CONVICTED. He was not convicted.. twice!

Truly he is not disgraced and if he runs again I will vote for him. You can just sit back like last time and ... do nothing.

The outrage is that she was calling Trump a feminist, and he couldn’t possibly be a feminist, because he is a Republican, and esp because he is Trump and all self respecting feminists hate Trump. But Trump probably is more the feminist than FJB OR Obama ever were. Where is Biden’s daughter(s?). The only thing I know about her is that her father, and maybe degenerate coke head of a brother maybe showered inappropriately with her. Ivanka Trump was given real policy power, was sent around the world to represent this country, and her father listened to her. Of course, feminist FJB makes up for all of his inappropriate touching of girls by being strongly in favor of abortion, even after birth.

This is akin to the Elite Capture that Ann is discussing in another thread today. Most women have more important things to worry about than providing free 3rd and 4th trimester abortions to poor women, such as the failing public school systems, drugs, a wave of criminals entering this country at the invitation of the FJB Administration, scarcity of formula, rampant inflation, being raped in formerly safe female spaces by men identifying as (I.e. pretending to be) women, etc. Only a small chunk of women, rich enough and secure enough from these other problems, can afford to spend their efforts on supplying free 3rd and 4th trimester abortions to other women, and use that as the litmus test of “feminism”. It’s stupid. It’s arrogant. And they get away with it, because the MSM is filled and overflowing with other highly entitled and highly privileged left wing “feminists”.

I actually understood what she meant by alternative facts. In most complex situations, there are lots of facts from which to choose, with the overall picture being a complex function of all of them. It's common for people, to select the facts that support their position and ignore those that do not. Kelly's "alternate facts" are those not considered by her political opposition because they do not support the narrative.

All the attacks on Trump as a racist or sexist always rang hollow, since Trump loves putting blacks, hispanics, women in power. unlike Bush or biden, Trump had black friends before he ran for POTUS, and truly likes black people.

The Trump obsession of the left is all over this thread and all over the reaction to her book. Trump lives in the brains of people who know nothing. I'm still reading "The Dumbest Generation Grows Up." It is spot on about why this present nonsense is happening. It will probably end in disaster because the people running things are ahistorical. It's a bit like FDR's "Brain Trust" of liberals who did not know how things worked, only how they thought they should.

Trump is not a feminist or masculinist. The evidence suggests that he subscribe to the belief, and, in fact, reality, that men and women are equal in rights, complementary in Nature/nature, and have always been in the [American] conservative model. A similar state and process of reconciliation occurs for individuals in the transgender spectrum (e.g. homosexual). Politically congruent ("=") constructs are neither necessary nor helpful.
