Just watched the President. If I had the transcript, I could point to the exact point where he should have stopped. But there is no leadership or greatness in this guy.
Very strange that Dr. Jill was in the room with him during the speech. That has to be a first. She then put on her mask when she was leaving the room.
Biden is incapable of reason. I watched that speech, too. What an idiot. The school shooter was another crazy like the Florida shooter and that Connecticut shooter. Mostly there are warnings that are ignored. What a shame for those parents. They deserved better from Biden.
I lasted through Biden’s near fall back on his son Beau’s death until he started with the policy arguments after a cursory acknowledgment of the pain the parents and community will be feeling. He could’ve done a good thing with this speech but the selfish old politician doesn’t have what it takes… nothing genuine about him, unfortunately - to do that. do that.
What a goddam shame. The doddering old fool can’t leave office soon enough.
Wheat Exports by Country by Daniel Workman Prairie wheat field Prairie wheat field In 2021, worldwide wheat exports by country totaled an estimated US$55.8 billion. That dollar amount reflects a 42.7% rise in international wheat sales since 2017 when global wheat exports were valued at $39.1 billion.
From 2020 to 2021, the value of globally exported wheat increased by 24.2%.
The 5 biggest wheat exporters (Russia, United States of America, Australia, Canada and Ukraine) provided about three-fifths (59.5%) of the overall value of international shipments for the nourishing cereal food.
From a continental perspective, European countries supplied half of worldwide wheat exports during 2021 with shipments amounting to $28 billion or 50.2% of total global sales. Home to two leading wheat-shipping neighbors (United States and Canada), North American exporters furnished 25.2% worth of wheat sold on international markets.
Oceania (mostly Australia) was responsible for 13% of wheat exports by value, ahead of Latin America excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean at 6.2%. Smaller percentages came from Asia (5.3%) and Africa (0.2%).
For research purposes, the 4-digit Harmonized Tariff System code prefix is 1001 for wheat and meslin. Top 15 Wheat Exporters by Country Below are the 15 countries that exported the highest dollar value worth of wheat during 2021.
Russia: US$7.3 billion (13.1% of total wheat exports) United States: $7.29 billion (13.1%) Australia: $7.2 billion (13%) Canada: $6.6 billion (11.9%) Ukraine: $4.7 billion (8.5%) France: $4.6 billion (8.2%) Argentina: $3 billion (5.3%) Germany: $2 billion (3.6%) Romania: $1.8 billion (3.3%) India: $1.7 billion (3.1%) Bulgaria: $1.4 billion (2.5%) Kazakhstan: $1.1 billion (1.9%) Poland: $994.3 million (1.8%) Lithuania: $826.2 million (1.5%) Hungary: $670.8 million (1.2%) The listed 15 countries shipped 91.8% of globally exported wheat in 2021 by value.
Among the top exporters, the fastest-growing wheat suppliers from 2020 to 2021 were: India (up 609%), Australia (up 167.2%), Bulgaria (up 96%), Romania (up 89.2%) and Argentina (up 46.5%). ***************
Yes, if you get your wheat imports from Ukraine, you have a big problem.
But the other (non0Russian) wheat-exporting nations, given that they ALL have a surplus to export, can surely divert their exports to those vulnerable countries......right?
Some say the Ukraine should give up "territory" as if "territory" was an expensive watch, just property which you're handing over to a mugger because human life is what matters. No. Giving up territory means giving up human lives, giving up the people who live there to Russian abuse. Who would like to speak up and give a number and say: "I think the Ukrainians should give up X number of people to Russian abuse. What's the right number? Let's say, 600,000, which is the number of slaves brought into the US from Africa. Send that number into slavery in Russia." And then in a few years the younger ones sent like property into Russia will be conscript soldiers invading somewhere else, mowed down in futile attacks which, however, have this same result - that people will be saying: "Oh, war is so nasty, give up some territory into slavery."
I started listening to Rush shortly after syndication in 1988, and I still tune in and listen at 12:06 PM for a segment or two. This week, the rights to use the Back to Ohio riff expired, and when I tuned in today I heard a different riff that I didn't recognize. It was an emotional moment for me.
The one thing that I would add to what the page concludes is that the racial demographics of the states with the highest gun homicide rates are very different from the states with the lowest gun homicide rates.
Has the Biden administration replaced any Cabinet Secy or senior staff? Other the Psaki leaving on her own I can’t think of anyone. The next question is- has there ever been an administration that failed, both politically and policy-wise as much as they have, that didn’t replace someone? Chief of Staff, Secy’s of Defence, State, HHS, etc? Why are these people irreplaceable? Can we conclude from this that someone, the person who is actually governing us, wants these results?
Sometimes logic takes you to a very frightening conclusion.
It is tiresome to hear our politicians roll out the same old talking points after the latest mass shooting. These murders are only a stage for gaining or losing political points with their activist supporters. Ban guns v guns don't kill people. We need new laws vs but the Republicans don't care about children, etc. There is a new one this round though, "We have all that leftover COVID money, let's make schools safer by adding guards and security upgrades."
At no point does anyone ever talk about the failures of our existing laws, the identification & treatment of potential shooters or the moral reality where killing some innocents is okay, but others are tragic, and what message that conveys to the society.
I wonder if we make our schools as secure as prisons, with armed guards all over the place, what will that do to the psyche of the students who are supposed to be learning about freedom?
Your wheat numbers appear to be in US$. That makes year to year comparisons a problem, as wheat prices can move 100% year to year. What is needed, it to track the Carry Out number. The number of bushels "left" at the beginning of the harvest.
I don't track wheat, but corn and soybeans prices are more the double from 12 months ago. Wheat I assume looks the same.
---At no point does anyone ever talk about ... the moral reality where killing some innocents is okay, but others are tragic, and what message that conveys to the society. [John]
So right. Our society's awful and contradictory confusion.
In these particular circumstances, it is because they don't care about ANY of the innocent lives, they just want more political control.
Some, like a Biden, to steal more money. Some, like a Robert Reich, to be in the position of telling everyone else what to do.
And for so many other necessities here at home. So it goes.
We never hesitate to pour ever more billions into our own or other nations' military sectors, and yet we "have no money" to provide for other non-military needs here at home.

Hey,
How much has Europe ponied up for Ukraine?
Too many viral attacks pushed Gates over the edge.
I see on Twitter that Biden made a divisive partisan political speech tonight.
Did he have anything to say about the school shooting?
I'm asking myself tonight:
If Ukraine provides 11.3 % of all wheat exports, why that means "famine" worldwide.

If the government can round up 400M guns as liberals want to do, then rounding up 30M illegal aliens should be easy...
$48B for Ukraine. $0 for school safety...
If all of those kids were killed in the womb 9 years ago the liberals would be celebrating.
It's just timing to them...
