She didn't decline to comment!

Christina Pushaw tweets:
Why Taylor Lorenz gave me a “deadline” of an hour to respond, at 8pm last night: She WANTED to write in Washington Post that “@GovRonDeSantis Press Secretary declined to comment on her relationship with @libsoftiktok.” As if it’s shameful to follow / like / RT the account. NOPE.

Here's the screen shot of their email exchange:

Desperation and a losing position often leads to the gambler's "double down" method: If you lose you double your bet, hoping to break even. If you lose again, double your bet again hoping to break even from an even worse position, etc.

Lose 1 -> 2 -> 4 -> 8 -> 16 -> 32 -> 64 -> 128 -> 256 -> 512 -> 1024 ...

This can work if you have a huge budget (e.g., good will, evidence, money), but when the budget runs out the double down strategy fails absolutely.

If double down is now the norm for big, establishment sources the end of an ideology may well be near.

Not exactly a 'gotcha'.

Taylor Lorenz is a sad excuse for a 'journalist'. And folks, that is quite a statement in todays US media. They are mostly all an embarrassment. But she's a side show. The Washington Post is the main character here. To quote their own editors: OMG!

Whatever has happened to that organization? Seriously. Does any breathing adult read that and not know inside that it's bullshit written by 10th graders masquerading as adults? It's so bad, so corrupt, and so open about how far they've gone to stay on message that they've removed themselves as a source of information. For decades to come. Those who still refer to that paper- like the New York Times- do it out of habit, out of reputation gained years ago.

If these were new entities producing the product as they do today, they'd be mocked furiously and would see a quick end. As legacy papers, their end will be slower and uglier. But the mocking is only just beginning.

The left is terrified of DeSantis. Trump was easy to other, to twist his own words and bravado, to impede. DeSantis is more careful with his words and image while still being bold in his policy decisions. The LGBT zealots and the nutbar teachers are going crazy trying to scare the public away from him and all they are doing is showing the general public he is factually correct.

"She didn't decline to comment!"

Why the "!"? An MSM "reporter" lies: this is news? WaPo denied doxxing the LoTT person--right after they had done so. And this is who they are. The Althousian "!" they-should-be-better shtick is beside the point.

Democracy dies in darkness: hence the purveying of darkness.

Everything about this Taylor Lorenz is a lie. While she's a progressive hero for now, her lies will catch up with her. She will be forgotten. Or, if she's remembered, it will be with people like Stephen Glass, Jayson Blair, and Janet Cooke. Brian Williams and Dad Rather should be in this list, but they're rich, white males, so the progressives protect them. (Yes, I know that doesn't sound right - but the progressives really don't care for logical consistency - they're all about power.)

Joe Biden, America's Putin said...

The great thing about this is the last bastions of the old guard (NYT, WaPo) are being exposed. The end can't come soon enough.

Lorenz v. Pushaw: no contest. Lorenz seems to be much given to passive-aggressive tactics; a kind of Middle School Mean Girls style of journalism. It was evident in her doxxing; and in her lame "explanation" for the doxxing; and now here, with her BS deadline for "comment" in a move that reminds me of nothing so much as the old trick question, "When did you stop beating your wife?"

I thought Rule 1 in journalism is, don't be the story. Lorenz is now the story. She should shut up and go away.

Lorenz is a liar. Pretty much all the journalists that work for the NYTimes and WaPo, and now the Wall Street Journal are liars. They enjoy lying. They like it even better when you know they are lying to you. Ones best response to this sort of thing is to stop supporting this financially. If they want to lie to you, at least make sure their hand is out of your fucking pocket while they are doing it and laughing at you as they do so.

Pushaw is awe inspiring and has that ambiguously mellifluous name! Is it pronounced like a NYer saying “pusher” or is it more like the southern exclamation “pshaw!”?

Also this episode features Megan McArdle who used to write great essays but now reveals herself as a casual antisemite. Who knew!

Taylor Lorenz is merely an exhibit in the decline of our institutions.

The WaPo means nothing to her (if it means anything).

She's a performer, a self-promotor, nothing more.

readering said...

Timeline in extract indicates the comment followed the statement that she would publish "declined to comment" and if you click more replies the spokeswoman later notes that the article as published did not state she declined to comment. She's saying WaPo tried to jam her and was foiled.

They are not journalists. They are activists. They are trained to be activists. They are employed to be activists. Journalism is is not what they are taught, not something they are interested in, and not something they have any intention of practicing.

Activists are a dime a baker's dozen these days.

The WAPO is an evil organization. It is a Regime mouthpiece.

People that support it financially and with attention and traffic are supporting this disgusting reporter and the other evil people that work there and the illegitimate evil regime.

Enough is enough.

Links to the WAPO need to end.

Discussions about anything the WAPO says need to start at other sources.

Taylor Lorenz must have learned her comment solicitation technique from one of those telephone scams where they try to get you to say "Yes" or "OK", record it, and then copy it as your consent to a contract for gutter cleaning.

???

Her "home state" of wyoming?
She was born in Madison Wis...She has spent her entire adult life in Northern Virginia
The ONLY times, IN HER LIFE, that she has EVER been in wyoming was to campaign for herself or her father.

Northern Virginia IS her home state.. IF you think it could be Anywhere else, it'd be Wisconsin
But to the morons at The Federalist.. She must have something to do with wyoming; so it's her "home state"

Yancey Ward- I am glad you mentioned the Wall Street Journal. I am a 40 year subscriber and I cannot believe how bad their reporting has gotten. Even though I don't agree with the editorial side all of the time, their arguments are well thought out and presented in a literate manner. Well, maybe not Peggy every week but Kim Stossel is very good.

The writing, and particularly the headline people, are atrocious. Too many pseudo-facts and hidden opinions in their articles. It's like suddenly their reporters are all 25 year olds who are trying out for the Times or the Post.

The concept appears to be that quoting to the general public bits of a sermon the preacher has addressed to a congregation of the faithful is a violation of the safe space and expectations of privacy formerly allowed. Suppose the issue was the damnation of unbaptized infants, quoting a perfectly typical Baptist railing against the doctrines of Catholic and Mainline Protestant competitors. If the Baptists are wrong, a lot of children are bound for hell. If the Baptists are right, then a lot of C&MP adults who were baptized as infants are bound for hell. It's a major and irreconcilable dispute -- and one we as a nation of religious tolerance prefer not to air in public.

The sexualization of pre-pubescents is quite analogous to the baptism of infants, in that the people who advocate for the practice believe (on faith rather than evidence) that they are correct and righteous for doing so. Still, they prefer not to have that debate in public.

The most interesting part of this story is that the research to find the "libsoftiktok" author was funded by the German government. What does the German "Federal Ministry of Education and Research" want with attacking American citizens ?

Lorenz cited Brown's series of tweets in her WaPo report published Monday doxing the woman who created the Libs of Tik Tok sleuthing persona.

Brown is working on an ongoing project with support from Prototype Fund, an organization that provides financial support to Brown's so-called "Hatespeech-Tracker." Protoype Fund is a project of the Open Knowledge Foundation Germany, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

Dishonest, misleading, unethical. So, wrong. But, perhaps even worse, stupid. She made a written record of her question and the other person’s answer. It is outright false to say that the person declined to comment. So her misleading representation of what happened was certainly going to be published as well. Does this so-called journalist even think at all? Does he just focus on harming her ideological enemies, and imagine that somehow her dishonesty will be ignored and not circulated and published to the world? She should be fired on the spot for this. She won’t be. Nothing will happen to her. But everyone who’s paying attention knows that she’s a liar.
