"President Biden's inner circle has been discussing delaying the repeal of Title 42 border restrictions, now set to end May 23..."

"... according to a source with direct knowledge of the internal discussion... The White House is looking for ways to buy time to avoid a massive influx of migrants that would add to already-historic border numbers. That already endangers Democratic incumbents in states that could decide the Senate majority in November. Biden officials recognize they're in a jam: moderate Democrats are pounding on them to delay the repeal but doing so would inflame the party's progressive base.... Title 42 has been used for approximately 1.7 million migrant expulsions. Border apprehensions last month climbed to 221,000, the highest level since 2000."

Axios reports.

Curious and wondering if the same FL Judge Mizelle reasoning could be helpful to/against Biden Administration in this endeavor - pro-delay or rescind altogether?

--10-year minimum prison sentence for crossing the border illegally.

--Tax all remittances leaving the country at 25%, no exceptions.

--No services (wellfare, etc.) if you can't show a US Passport (which will be free to all legal citizens).

The problem will solve itself in a year or two.

I'd rather pay to house folks in jail than pay for them to live here.

Why is it Democrats need to adjust/delay policies for election purposes? Obviously their policies are not what the voters want, or they would proudly trumpet them rather than hide them. And of course, how stupid do democrat voters need to be to keep voting for these people who enact policies they hate? Hold them accountable or you end up like California and Washington where initiates have to be passed to undo legislation. I recently read that Colorado is suspending tax hikes until after the election because of how they would impact voting. LIVs are the bane of this country.

Is this the only reason to oppose unlimited illegal immigration?

For the life of me, I cannot come up with a reason that the Democrats are letting the invasion at the southern border continue. Do they think the Hispanic-American population wishes its communities to be inundated with immigrant newcomers? That such an inundation wouldn't push the Latino community Republican, which is exactly what we're seeing?

Do the Democrats think they're "seeding the future" for a bloc of voters that'll surely vote for them, either after a politically disastrous general road-to-citizenship amnesty or their children? That seems a stretch.

I'm sorry, bit the reason that most quickly springs to mind as to why the Democrats are supporting an open border is widespread corruption. I think both the cartels, which now not just "drug gangs, but are in reality multi-billion dollar international corporations and China are paying off government officials.

"Endangered Democrats are bluntly and publicly warning of a political disaster in the midterms. They're pleading with the White House not to give Republicans an opportunity to paint Democrats as the party of open borders."

Interesting. The Democratic party IS "the party of open borders." That's what they want to be. Democrats have said so, quite publicly, and they should be proud of it. Why would they not want to be "painted" that way?

So nice that our leaders are not not looking out for the good of the country.

When is the last time democrats have actually done that?

It is also their fight inflation plan by suppressing wages in the black, Hispanic and lesser skilled jobs.

As Obama said, Joe Biden can [screw] up anything. Including giving the left their unlimited illegal immigration.

Of course, the recent stampede of Hispanics towards the Republican Party might also be giving Biden's team pause.

How about enforcing border laws like every other country? We have those laws, and you like to use them to force Americans to wear masks and take covid tests when leaving and entering the country. How about forcing non-Americans to do a few things that Americans do when crossing our border? Make them present a passport, show a recent negative covid test that they procured with their money, and if you insist, they can wear a mask while the paperwork is processed, so they won't give covid to federal employees behind the plexiglass. And if they fail to do these things, treat these non-Americans like Americans and refuse to allow them into the country.

Oh, for fuck's sake. They haven't expelled 1.7 million illegal immigrants, and the 200,000 apprehensions last month are 95% given a court date and released on the US side of the border.

You are being lied to on this issue by the goverment and by the media....repeatedly. What the Democrats are trying set as the narrative here is to make it look like the Biden Administration is cracking down by delaying the meaningless regulation. It is a shell game.

I don't understand. Judging from their actions this administration clearly wants historic numbers of illegal immigrants. So they're getting what they want. So I'm not buying it.

Given the absolute chaos along the entire border, with ranchers fighting for their very lives, and knowing this has been a gusher going non-stop for over a year, with Biden's team offering up transportation and starting points for what?- a million, a few hundred thousand?- of these people. That they would even be considering this, announcing it, giving the entire Southern Hemisphere a timeline to get their butts in gear if they're going to come up here...is reason to pull these people out of office and shut them out for a generation.

That Biden's team has been negligent on this and has actually encouraged it from Day 1, is impeachment material. The Government's job- their raison d'ĂȘtre- is national security. They have failed miserably at this and in fact, act as one would if they were traitors to their own country. There is no national security. There is no border.

And that seems just fine for the team who also thinks there is no gender.

wouldn't want to upset the "progressive base" that wants to defund the police and groom schoolchildren, i.e., things the vast majority of Americans want no part of. You might hurt the Party's electoral chances if you do that!

Agreed, but they are completely out-of-touch with how the majority of the citizens feel on various issues. They are just now realizing the extent of that, and the impact it will have in the elections. (Same thing applies with the oil leases.)

Simplify your analysis:
1. Biden is not running things.
2. Others(Susan Rice, Ron Klain, Jill Biden EdD, and beyond)actually are. They are Edith Bolling Galt Wilson.
3. Seeing a narrow window, Rice et al. are setting policies w/o Congressionally-approved and signed legislation that would have desired effects for both short- and long terms.
4. Americans are not actually in control anymore, an oligarchy is.

Years ago, the Democrats made a bargain with the devil. All of their energy comes from a radical fringe that repulses all but a small minority of voters. They can’t afford to reject this group as they’re the ones knocking on doors, making calls, and showing up at rallies. But they also can’t be too closely identified with this group because they’re ballot-box poison.

This bargain has just about come to term and the devil is at the door to collect his payment.

Word. These people aren't stupid; or, at least, it would be imprudent to assume that they are. So...why? Are they trapped by their previous rhetoric and policies? Or are they going to just bull through, and no worries about that pesky voting stuff?

Strange and perilous times.

Why does the FJB Administration care what the progressives want? As it is the Democrats are going to lose Congress because of the progressives. Unless the Democrats are suicidal the faster they ditch the woke the better their chances in 2024. They also can no longer rely on stealing the vote like they did in 2020. They are going to have to legitimately win the vote.

Waist deep in the big muddy--and the ship of fools under Admiral Biden--says press on.

Now in the real "Big Muddy" back in the pre WW II Louisiana Maneuvers, a company of troops was trying to get back to base and had to cross the Big Muddy River. Which was running high--and the officer in charge said "press on"---and thank you Karma, some of the troops survived--and the officer who'd ordered them into the river drowned.

Now here's the problem--for danged sure "Admiral Biden" isn't in charge of anything other what flavor ice cream he wants this afternoon. And the unelected unaccountable "officers" running this ship of fools are hard to identify. But one hopes that Karma will see all--and punish the guilty in an appropriate fashion.

So far the early decades of the 21st century are copies of the early decades of the 20th century. The Progressives have almost played themselves out again, and I'm betting that after November, by the next presidential election the Democrats will go back to liberal again.

This article, from a pro immigration source, if you read all the way through, gives a good explanation of who is being sent back and who is sent forward and how Title 42 works in conjunction with other border policies.

That information was surprisingly hard to find. But now I halfway understand the numbers being thrown around.

Having read the comments on this one, and being previously ignorant myself, I recommend reading that article or a similar one before further expostulation on the subject.

If a Republican was delaying a policy change that would cause them problems with the public the media would be hounding every Rep down to a local councilman’s gofer demanding hard answers!!!. It would be 24/7 news for months before the midterm. Most people are not going to hear about this. At least not without the proper spin added by the lefty presstitutes to make Biden look the best they can.

Well, unless they delay the repeal to after the November election, and delay just makes things worse, as the rush gets ever closer to when voters are actually paying attention

Title 42 comes with a "the White House must certify every X days ..." So they "repeal" it by refusing to certify.

How they justify trying to force Covid restrictions on Americans, while rising them on illegal invaders, will be just another push for the republicans blowing out the Democrats in November

For the life of me, I cannot come up with a reason that the Democrats are letting the invasion at the southern border continue

1: The rich people funding the Democrats like having lots of workers who are here illegally, and thus can be abused without them having recourse to going to the government

2: The Hispanic "activists" and "media" need lots of unassimilated people to be their customers

3: Rich white liberals want cheap "Mexican" Gardners etc, not having to pay what an American would charge for the work

What do you imagine illegal aliens are earning now? I hire them (no other available options locally that I can afford or get to show up) for between $20 and $30 per hour to do moderately skilled labor. Even at that rate, it's tough to schedule work. I've seen this for years. People think illegals work for next to nothing. Yes, their presence drives down prevailing wages overall, but they don't cost much less than domestic labor. They just actually show up for the same price...

On a personal level, I have no issues with most illegals. They work hard for the most part, and they are just doing what anyone would do in their shoes. On a societal level, if you want a country that looks more like Mexico, you should import more Mexicans. By those lights, I'd rather bring in more Germans.

michaele said...

I pointed out to a neighbor that if title 42 gets repealed and the illegal numbers entering the country jump up to the predicted 17,000 a day, every 11 days that equals a city the size of Knoxville. TN....again, again and again. How can this possibly be fair to legal residents?
