The working dog. Like that it gets the majority of the sheep herded first and then goes back for the 2 strays. How do you teach that, or is it instinct?
Shepherd dog! I love those guys. Hey, git in there! No sheep left behind.
Loved the working dog. When I was a kid, going to the field and bringing in the dairy cows before school was one of my chores. The ONLY reason I had to go with Hope, the half English shepherd, half collie stock dog, was to open and close the two gates. Those cows knew and MINDED that dog. Because if they didn't, she nipped their heels. They knew exactly who was boss. And it wasn't me.
I have a blue heeler. Way smarter than I am. She’s our 2nd one.
Her energy wears me out. I’ve never had a dog that played fetch before. These working dogs, the ones I’ve known- they can play fetch all day long. This one is a definite heeler as she’s 2steps from me at all times. Not gonna lie- it’s hard to work around her and she drives me crazy, but she means well.
I don’t encourage her w/the cows. Our last one was a bit aggressive. This one has it in her, but - yeah. I’m the dumb one.
I liked all the videos. My favorite?
The bike helmet covers lol
Working dog! But also loved crochet, douche, and potato and egg. I despise cats but kitten clip was charming.
Others not.
I just sent 2kittens home w/my oldest daughter. Mamacat’s gonna get fixed May 3rd. It was fun to watch them progress and become independent, but what a relief!
I was expecting Tom Brady and his wife, Giraffe Bundtcake putting on a song and dance.
Potatoes and egg recipe. Anything with food trumps cute cats and dogs.
#9.
There was a incredible one yesterday featuring a team of boys on a trampoline who got a kid high enough on a bounce to spin 8 times or more....I can never find these things later tho.
Nope. Not looking this time.
Wouldn't be prudent.
Working dog.
Working dogs. My cattle dog chases traffic helicopters. One guy swoops down in the field to acknowledge him then circles back to Atlanta.
Strong creatures. He tears down small trees in his spare time. Once he targets a tree, he doesn't stop until he strips it down limb by limb.
Someday that traffic reporter is going to find him hanging to the bottom of his helicopter fifty miles from here.
They are stubborn as hell. I've heard stories of them taking bullets and still catching intruders. They can run 25 miles a day and jump from the back of one cow to another.
The border collie is my choice.
Seeing the enthusiasm of the dog and the response of the sheep reminded me of some research done at Duke ten or fifteen years ago. It was always assumed that the collie's ability to herd sheep and the flock's reaction to the collie's movements were derived from the predator/prey relationship of their respective ancestor species. The Duke study suggested that that logical assumption may not be true. Blood analysis of the dog and a useful random sample of the sheep done before the collie was called to work and after the sheep had been herded from where they had been grazing did not show evidence of elevated stress-related hormones or high blood sugar levels. The upshot is the sheep evidently do not fear the collie, though they obey the collie's "commands".
Border collie. So much energy. I wonder if there is any human activity where such focus and adaptive energy is apparent? You would have to run, watch, react, run faster, organize. Can't think of when we humans jump headlong into something the way this dog does!
A- contagion of herd mentality in sheep? Get a few to go and the others’ herd instinct kicks automatically into gear? Idk about studies, but fight or flight is built in.
Working dog.
Dog. And the reminder of why Barry Williams wanted to bang his TV mom.
Working dog was amazing!
Brady family Easter was cringe-worthy. I couldn't make it to the end.
Working dogs have the highest IQ (couldn't do the job otherwise). What I note about them, including rescue dogs and assistance dogs, is that they are not doing it for the treats--they love their jobs. Watch a dog doing an obstacle course or that shepherd dog--you could not get that level of energy by offering treats.
I was about to vote for the working dog, but then I got to the crochet one. And my life is so much better now.
Brady Family Easter. So fascinatingly bad, I couldn’t look away.
