There's a pretty funny Comedy Central series (available on HBO Max) called the South Side. I love the really SASSY theme song. Just saw that there was a recent second season that I need to catch up on. Don't know/can't remember precisely where the setting is supposed to be, though I saw a reference to Englewood on IMDB (and I seem to recall scenes from at least one episode in season one that were clearly near the lake).
On a grimmer note, there's The Chi. I was intrigued because the main setting of the show is supposed to be 79th Street between Ashland and Halsted (though, as with Shameless, supposedly set in Canaryville on the South Side, the actual location filming has been on the West Side). I grew up about a mile from there. Can't say how many movies we saw at the Highland Theater (at 79th and Ashland), not to mention the Capitol (at 79th and Halsted). But I couldn't get past the violence in the first few episodes.
FWIW, the Christian Brothers are still operating Leo high school on the same stretch of 79th Street, apparently with substantial support from white alumni (geez, I think Dr. Mike might have gone there!). All male, as ever (apparently they don't have any problem sorting that out). Understandably a huge emphasis on sports. The enrollment seems fairly small and the curriculum not exactly up to Jesuit standards, but most of the students graduate and go on to college. There should be a Yiddish word for what they're doing but clearly a good thing.
I also mentioned Drunk Shakespeare, which has been operating in New York and Chicago. There are five actors that, at least in the Chicago version, handle most of the business, with a few more people to do ticket taking, serve drinks and snacks during the performance, etc. One of the five actors does five shots, then they try to do a Shakespeare play, with some audience participation. It was MacBeth my night. I commented that "Who'd have thought the old man had so much blood in him" was my favorite line, which got me a shout out by the (drunk) actor afterwards. I was also reciting along quietly with the "tomorrow and tomorrow" speech and the actor let me complete a number of lines. A fun night.
Somebody mentioned the Obama monstrosity that is supposedly going up in Jackson Park, one of the few places on the South Side that least needs to attract white visitors. Just wrong, wrong, wrong.
While I'm at it, the Cubs always have and always will suck. Go White Sox!

I have deep respect for emergency vehicles with their sirens. Certainly hope one will come quickly when I need it, sirens blazing and lights flashing. And yet sometimes, watching coots on the lake at sunrise, I can’t help but muse wistfully, S.T.F.U.

Are they young coots or old coots?
I found this useful hack/tip for when I'm nodding off at the wrong time, could have used this way before now.
Look up 🙄. Really. Just look up for 10 to 15 seconds.
Clip to video "Never Feel Tired During The Day"
I has saved me a couple of times already. I was skeptical but I tried it and it worked.
Oops. I thought this post was a picture. It's a video.
Coot? I resemble that remark...
A little too eager to share woke tip.
I was hoping to see a mother coot and her little cooties.
Following up on the Chicago post:
