I read an article in bizpacreview referenced by BUMBLE BEE just a bit ago.
Toeing the party line- following the leaders, you're not one of them Towing the party line- dragging everyone else along with your views. You're the leader.
Although the second isn't actually the phrase... Actually the second time TODAY I read a mainstream media article referring to towing the party line. Layers of fact checkers and editors and they can't properly use a simple ordinary well known phrase. Misspelled by the writer or and missed by the editor? Or "corrected" by the editor after the writer used it correctly? No way to know.
Almost as if people were selected for their jobs for reasons other than actually being qualified to fill them.
Zelenskyy says "compromise" is possible on Putin's demands he cede Crimea/DPR/LPR & not join NATO: "I've cooled down regarding this question a long time ago after we understood that NATO isn't prepared to accept Ukraine." Could be big if both sides genuine
The Europeans have cut Biden loose on the NATO question and on further sanctions. The Europeans know what we know, that Joe Biden is held in thrall by the Hillary mafia, which has its own plans for Ukraine. Biden's sanction regime has been a disaster for Europe and battered its currency.
BTW, Iraq, Libya, and Syria? All Russian clients, former, or current in the case of Syria, where we have American soldiers right now guarding somebody's oil.
I want to move to a country with a long enough history that its citizens are thoroughly cynical, maybe Greece, maybe France, IDK. The Biden/Hillary bootlickers are just way too cringe for me, and Trudeau's handling of the demonstrators in Ottawa was the final eye opener, and also ruled out Canada, since only half of Canadians now have a lower opinion of Dreamy McDreamboat.
"Zelenskyy says "compromise" is possible on Putin's demands"
Don't tell anyone on this blog. What's he doing taking Putin's line? Doesn't he want to fight to the death?
"The Europeans have cut Biden loose on the NATO question and on further sanctions."
Only partly. But they have yet to reckon with one unmentioned cost of further fighting--possibly millions of migrants.
"BTW, Iraq, Libya, and Syria? All Russian clients, former, or current in the case of Syria, where we have American soldiers right now guarding somebody's oil."
Indeed we are collaborating with Russia on several fronts. The most obvious is elevating Iran to supreme regional power, unchallengeable with nukes. While we shed tears over Russia's advance as a great power expanding its own sphere of influence, we actively promote another.

32 trimesters, but better late, than never. Kiev did not act in time to offer reconciliation and remediation to Ukrainians and neighbors affected, and does not have a moral basis to deny secession as resolution.
Maybe I have not been paying enough attention the last few years but it looks to me like the progressive obsession with Ukraine is almost completely due to the Trump/Russia hoax that was foisted on to the American public via the Democrat/Media cabal. My whole life and before, according to what is obvious from the historical record, the Democrats were more sympathetic to communism/Russia than the GOP. The Trump/Russia hoax was a dirty trick from the Clintons, and now progressives are flying the Ukrainian flag only because of the false Trump/Russia connection. Am I missing something?
"On March 7, Ontario Superior Court Justice Hon. John M. Johnston granted bail to Lich on a $25,000 bond.
In his ruling, Johnston said he found the arguments about Bourgeois’ political past had no merit but noted that he did find several other errors of law in the justice’s decision.
He said Bourgeois was too subjective when assessing the gravity of the offences, weighing them against the impacts to Ottawa’s residents rather than objectively comparing them to other offences in the Criminal Code."
...
"Drew Barnes, MLA for Cypress-Medicine Hat, issued a statement on Twitter on March 7 saying that Lich, his constituent, was granted bail “under strict conditions,” and the decision overturned the previous ruling to deny her bail, which he said “raised serious concerns regarding judicial bias.”
“The fact in this case are clear: Tamara Lich is not a violent criminal, and she has not been charged with a violent crime. Despite this, last week she was perp walked into court wearing shackles, in a clear attempt [to] depict her as a menace to society,” he wrote. “This case underscores the inherent danger that judicial activism poses to the individual rights and freedoms of all Canadian citizens.”
"BTW, Iraq, Libya, and Syria? All Russian clients, former, or current in the case of Syria, where we have American soldiers right now guarding somebody's oil."
For a couple of years there we had our own oil. That was nice.
I chose to listen to YouTube today while doing house chores. A Joe Rogan podcast w/Sam Harris and it was 2015- had to be b/c when Trump was the candidate. Honestly, Sam sounded like such a schmuck. He got nothing right about Trump &his “followers”. I really wish Rogan would do a do- over right now w/Sam and use their 20/20 1/2ass backwards sight to analyze how wrong they were.
Honestly- I feel I could have had a conversation w/Sam about the stupid points he thought he was so informed in making. I had to stop listening…
I thought “making the world safe for democracy” had been abandoned in the ash heaps of Iraq and Afghanistan. If Putin’s fears are correct, NATO expansion was meant to eventually knock at his door in the middle of the night.

Toeing a line--standing where you are supposed to.
Towing a line--pulling a boat or barge.
The language has evolved two metaphors for the idea of not being a free agent, all thanks to the wonders of homophony.
