I just drove over an interstate overpass at the time when the sun was going down to my right and the full moon was rising to my left. So cool. By the time I realized I could’ve taken pictures, the light had changed ahead. Maybe next year today at 7:40 pm, I’ll walk over there, weather permitting.
Another Geneva Convention violation by those dastardly Ukrainians and their propaganda?
You rarely hear from mothers of Russian soldiers. This lady came up to us at an anti-war protest in Moscow, desperate for the safety of her 22 yr old son. She told us there were only 10 men left in his regiment. If there are voices Putin fears, it’s these
Sign of spring this evening when we saw the first red wing blackbirds of the year. Our property Is adjacent to two ponds, currently ice covered, that host dozens of red wing black birds in the spring and summer. The first arrivals are sentinel birds that scout out the terrain before the whole flock arrives in early April. These birds take over our yard, eat from our feeders, perch on our roof, and yell at us if we approach their nests. We enjoy them for about 6 months. The males have the red wing bars called epaulets, while the females are a kind of nondescript brown. The males can also be quite feisty.
People are cancelling their subscriptions to the New York Times for admitting that the Hunter Biden laptop is authentic. It's a cult. They just can't accept that the president foisted on us is openly corrupt.
'An elite Ukrainian drone unit has destroyed dozens of “priority targets” by attacking Russian forces as they sleep, The Times can reveal.
Aerorozvidka, a specialist air reconnaissance unit within the army, has been picking off tanks, command trucks and vehicles carrying electronic equipment since the invasion began.
“We strike at night, when Russians sleep,” Yaroslav Honchar, the unit’s battle-hardened commander, said from his base of operations in Kyiv.
Russian forces are static when night falls, he explained, with their fear of Ukrainian shelling forcing them to hide their tanks in villages between houses, knowing that conventional artillery cannot risk hitting civilians.
But immobile convoys are the prime targets of Aerorozvidka, which has 50 squads of expert drone pilots.'
'...“In the night it’s impossible to see our drones,” said an Aerorozvidka soldier, who asked not to be named for security reasons. “We look specifically for the most valuable truck in the convoy and then we hit it precisely and we can do it really well with very low collateral damage — even in the villages it’s possible. You can get much closer at night.”'
'...As well as utilising public communications channels used by hundreds of civilian drone fliers who have mobilised to push back President Putin’s forces, Aerorozvidka relies on a secure Starlink satellite system donated to them by Elon Musk. The unit was created by model plane enthusiasts in 2014, but since the success of its operations against Russian forces in Crimea, it has been integrated into the Ukrainian general staff.
Drone specialists have built a Nato-standard intelligence system capable of monitoring the movements of Russians and co-ordinating precise air attacks against their positions (Charlie Parker writes).
Delta, created by the Ukrainian air reconnaissance unit Aerorozvidka, pulls together information from satellites, sensors on the battlefield, drone reconnaissance, radio interceptions and interviews with people in occupied territory.
It allows on-screen tracking of military movement in the conflict zone, showing data on an interactive map that military leaders can use for “situational awareness” and planning. Leaders of the unit have been using the system to co-ordinate bombing runs with drones against Russian targets, including tank convoys.
“We have an in-house team of military software developers who follow a Nato standard to develop our situational awareness system,” an Aerorozvidka leader told The Times. He added: “Based on the information we task our 50 teams in the field to either hit the targets identified or provide additional reconnaissance to some special parameters. Or to provide artillery with their eyes — they do the co-ordination of artillery fire.”'
I lived on the shores of lake Mendota as an undergrad and the sound of the ice breaking up each spring - it was pretty loud. I also recall that there is always some idiot who earns the honor of being the last fool to fall through the ice each spring, requiring rescue services - has that clown been determined yet?
Insight From Ace of Spades HQ... What is actually scary, that these kids have no clue about, is the quality of “leadership” we have in the western world right now. Biden, Johnson and Francis instead of Reagan, Thatcher and John Paul II? It's like a particularly cruel and sadistic joke, only I'm living in it.
The question assumes a fact not in evidence. I've never said the sunrise pics are straight out of the iPhone. The iPhone is optimized for taking pictures of human faces, and virtually anything else is overbrightened.
I don't change the color saturation, but I do, 99.99% of the time, turn down the light.
In Apple's Photos program, at the top in the sidebar, there's a slider labled "Light." I pull that to the left until things look best. That moves a set of sliders, one of which is "Brightness." Then I usually pull "Brightness" down more. Occasionally, I turn up the contrast and/or "Black Point."
You might think when the sun itself is in the shot that the camera would react and *darken* the surrounding clouds and sky. Maybe it does, but it's never enough. Touching the image of the sun before taking the shot causes the iPhone to darken the rest of the image and is worth doing, but I still need to turn down the light in Photos.
There's probably a way I could reset the camera for what I need, because it's always the same thing.
Yes, Althouse's favorite newspaper has stiffed its readers again. The NYT has suddenly had to admit that Biden's son's laptop was real, is full of information that may indicate criminal behavior, and so on.
The NYT deep-sixed most news of the laptop with some BS excuses way back before the election. Their sudden about-face this week may have been partly their attempt to get ahead of the news -- since apparently a lawyer involved with another family member says Hunter B looks likely to be indicted, per the lawyer's reading of the information involved.
Stiffed the readers again; All the "News" They Want You to Know and nothing else. How does an educated person spend time reading those news pages? They couldn't show more clearly that NYT's staff has no interest in their readers. And once you realize the NYT news is twisted or concealed -- how do you read the features with a clear mind? The baloney goes everywhere, it's a key part of their business model. Sad!
Next idea for limiting the federal state oligopoly: Legislatively overturn Marbury v Madison. Remove the SCOTUS as the final arbiter of politics, religion, etc. Let the legislature and executive back into the "equal" part of "separate but equal branches of government".
It won't be long that a Dem President ignores the SCOTUS anyhow. We're starting to see that in the states, where a court decision is blithely ignored by the executive branch. And our current regime in the White House is making noise that way.
The NYT have signaled that now is the time to cut the Biden crime family loose.
They clearly no longer want or need Joe at the top. What's not clear is who they and the other conspirators want instead. (Don't say La Cackler--they're evil and power-hungry, not stupid.)
What is actually scary, that these kids have no clue about, is the quality of “leadership” we have in the western world right now. Biden, Johnson and Francis instead of Reagan, Thatcher and John Paul II? It's like a particularly cruel and sadistic joke, only I'm living in it.
All the commenters here were well of age when we had Reagan, Thatcher and John Paul II. Ninety percent of them have been proudly embracing the position of folks like J.D. Vance, "I don’t really care what happens to Ukraine one way or another," if not actively advocating for their surrender and defeat.

I’m loving the ice on the lake.
I found a miniature sundown and moonrise at Reddit.

I’m a sky person. Head in the clouds.
These pictures practically talk.

Humper's lap top computer is turning into something real.
I think Joe Biden is the epitome of the if-you're-in-the-game-and-you-don't-know-who-the-mark-is.
I can't imagine a graceful exit from this situation. Joe's gonna fall.

Congratulations to Creighton. Exciting finish.
It looks like three different days.
Spring begins Sunday at 8:33 a.m. PDT.
So the Laptop story was right after all...but every sentient being knew that already.
And 875 'Intelligence' Agencies swore up and down that it was just Russian disinformation.
These people are completely in the bag for the socialist Dem new world order...
The bottom photo is pretty sporty. Are these still unenhanced pics from an iPhone?

Crazy good pictures. How do you do it?
There’s is one despot, in that part of the world, other than Putin who has managed to survive “regime change”.
Here he is having a meeting with Nancy Pelosi.
