"She and Musk used a surrogate this time, which in combination with the pandemic enabled them to keep their daughter a secret, right up until Y shared the news just now" (by crying like the baby she is).

"That’s what they call her, by the way: Y. She’s got a full name, but this doesn’t seem like the moment to ask for it..."

I'm reading "'Infamy Is Kind Of Fun”' Grimes on Music, Mars, and Her Secret New Baby With Elon Musk/The visionary pop star holds nothing back, talking with Vanity Fair about everything under the sun, including her thrilling upcoming album, Book 1" (Vanity Fair).

[O]ne thing that really pisses [Grimes] off is how many people think that she surrendered her agency to [Elon Musk]. They took her silence for complicity, rather than how she viewed her silence, which was not submitting to their sexist horseshit....

He’s done more than any other private citizen to wean the planet off fossil fuels. He helped protect internet service in Ukraine by making his Starlink satellite terminals available. And Grimes is baffled that so many people view his Mars ambition as some billionaire’s boondoggle, rather than the essence of being human and maybe, just maybe, the key to our survival...

Grimes and Musk agree that living separately is wise. They’re just too different on the basic stuff. He likes things “reasonably neat.” She likes to be able to see everything she owns, all at once. He likes quality design, clean aesthetics. She likes Death Note rugs from Etsy....

When you imagine your future life on Mars, is Elon there? Is he with you? Are you doing it together? “Hopefully,” she says, then goes quiet for a few moments. She hasn’t considered this before. “Wow. Wow. Because, yeah, you’re right, he’ll probably go and then I’ll come later. Wow.”

Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids

... but at least E and c would be together.... And if X and Y want to join their parents, they would have a free ticket waiting for them....

Sometimes even when your parents pay for your ticket, you don't want to make the trip to visit them where they are. It's not about paying for the ticket, Mom. I mean it's a really long trip, and in fact, it's cold as hell.

Who knew Musk was married. Scott Adams says he's getting a divorce though. Who could have seen that coming.

"Rocket Man" was a protest song about the lack of quality day care on Mars.

I would say 'This celebrity couple won't be together in 10 years,' but they're not together now. Hope the kids are receiving a healthy upbringing.

Interesting couple, though.

Musk thinks for himself and doesn't walk the Soviet-leftist Nancy line.

so the Assholes who run Vanity Fair(D) think its cool to torture Grimes and force her to Virtue signal on behalf of her BF.

Vanity Fair should be mocked and ridiculed at all times. Pack of white left democrat Hillarywoodland hivemind jaKKK-offs in ivory towers.

I think Musk should be having dozens of children using surrogacy. He can afford the child support and humanity could use his DNA.

oh no! Vanity Fair to unleash the Nancy-esque torture and harassment.

I skimmed it, but the way it looks to me is that Grimes used a surrogate because it was too difficult for her to be pregnant again.

And has anyone heard the music of Grimes? Is it any good whatsoever?

I regularly hear excellent original music in Omaha at The Jewell and Buck's in Venice. I've never heard Grimes on satrad.

So postmodernists get upset when people think in postmodern ways? She doesn't get to control the "text" of her silence, it is open to subjective interpretation and observers' own 'truths'.

Nobody in the Biden regime knows enough to ask that question.

What does Grimes' music sound like? She has a nice voice -- with a hint of the heavily processed "whisper-baby" style common to many of today's female pop stars -- and sings over repetitious dance-pop instrumentals. It's the sort of thing you might hear once if you tune in to "eclectic" music shows on NPR, then probably never listen to again. She also makes very artsy music videos.

Musk also believes global warming is an existential threat. But please, don't deviated from the military petroleum complex talking points.

That said, we need to up production globally as a temporary wartime measure. Unless you people want to pretend to be the greatest generation and embrace rationing to fight tyrants.

@PM

A far better strategy for initial off world colonies would be to bypass Mars and go directly to the asteroid belt. They could be mined and the interiors used to house colonies. Water and organics could be harvested from comets.

I'd be interested in someone explaining that statement to me. He makes battery powered cars. The battery is charges mainly by fossil fuel. A lot of coal, natural gas.

Why are rare earth minerals OK - but extracted fossil fuels bad?

Parents call their kids by all manner of names and shortcuts. I have a son whose name starts with T. What do we call him (most of the time)? "T"

As opposed to his sister, "V".

I'm not interested enough to search for "Grimes" real name, or if that's her real name.

Maybe we could call her "G".

Rare Earth minerals don't emit carbon.

(Note climate change is the one thing I disagree with Elon about)

Tesla also makes solar panels, solar roofs, power walls and Megapacks.

See South Australia for the possible impact.

Musk got rich off you idiots who are into "Scientism." The warming stopped in the 1950s when the Little Ice Age, which ended about 1870, finally got back to normal climate. Remember you lunatics fearing a new Ice Age in 1973?

He is not about to explain his scam while dopes like you still buy his crappy cars.

Does tesla actually make a solar roof? Or do they just take deposits for if and when they do make them? I was under the impression it is still "coming real soon now"

As to power walls and batteries, my comment is the same as the car. Batteries only store energy. Not very cost effectively either.

The energy they store mainly comes from the utility grid. Mostly fossil and nuclear.

Musk explained that long ago. Producing power at a power plant is way more efficient than burning it inside a car. Even if you're using fossil fuels at the power plant it produces a lot less CO2 and more power for the same fuel.
Plus, he's talking about "weaning off fossil fuels". That requires replacing fossil fuels with non-fossil alternatives, and can only be done one application at a time. Cars are one job, power plants are another. If the cars aren't burning gas, you can eventually replace the power plant with nuclear or solar or whatever.
