Just finished the William Barr memoir. It's an honest, informative account of a number of recent controversies, as well as an explanation of the formative events of his life. Recommended.

Thanks Madison Man.

1000+ homes lost in the Marshall fire in December. One year ago, 10 people shot to death by a lunatic at a local grocery store. Feeling a big kicked in the head.

Iconic’ Saint Javelin helps fundraise over $1 million for Ukraine

'"Saint Javelin” became a rallying sign of Ukraine’s resistance since Russia invaded on Feb. 24.

An Orthodox Madonna clad in green and cradling a Javelin anti-tank missile, the viral meme found a new use in the hands of Christian Borys, a Toronto marketer who was a journalist in Ukraine in 2014-2019.

Days before the war started, Borys created a $10 sticker out of the viral meme to help Ukrainian orphans in what he thought would be a modest contribution to Ukraine’s support relief. He also created a website, SaintJavelin.com, to sell those stickers online.

“The sticker was a fluke,” Borys told the Kyiv Independent.

He had initially set up a $30,000 goal for his charity. A month in, Borys raised over $1 million, an unexpected success for the entrepreneur turned charity worker...'

'...The Saint Javelin design was not an original creation of Borys. Ukrainian graphic designer Evgeniy Shalashov, based in Lviv and employed by Borys, slightly adapted a 2012 painting by US artist Chris Shaw that was already a hit.

In mid-February, Shaw “woke up to find an image of ‘Saint Javelin’ going viral all over the internet as a meme,” a digital alteration of his 2012 painting, “Madonna Kalashnikov.”

Shaw painted the “Madonna Kalashnikov,” a feminine religious icon holding a gold-leafed AK-47, in 2012, in the aftermath of the Arab Spring that shook the Middle East in the early 2010s.

In 2015, Madonna Kalashnikov was conscripted by the Ukrainian Army and became a morale patch for Ukraine’s military.'

Knew about the Kyiv Post for a long time, but not the Kyiv Independent. Wikipedia provides the answer:

"...In 2021, Kyiv Post staff were engaged in disputes with the newspaper's owner over editorial independence. The owner, construction tycoon Adnan Kivan, wanted to take full control of the newsroom that has always followed the principle of editorial independence, according to Kyiv Post's journalists. Kivan ultimately fired the newsroom staff; the publication went silent on November 8th.[1][2] (Kyiv Post paused publication but later resumed work with a new newsroom.)

Following this, the Kyiv Post's former editorial team established the Kyiv Independent on November 11th. The team of editors and journalists partnered with media managers from Jnomics Media, a consultancy based in Kyiv and London. The team unanimously chose Olga Rudenko, former deputy chief editor at the Kyiv Post, to lead the new publication as editor-in-chief..."

Nixon used the madman with his finger on the button as a negotiating technique. I wonder if addled old man with his finger on the button is useful in negotiations.....Nothing Biden has said fills me with resolve or purpose, but the steps he has actually taken seem measured and proportionate. It's Putin I worry about. His invasion of Ukraine was stupid and wrong, and, to date, not a single person in either Ukraine or Russia is better off because of his blunder. You can't poll the corpses, but the refugees don't seem supportive of Putin's dreams of a Greater Russia..... Qaddaffi invaded Chad and Saddam invaded Kuwait. Their forces were not defeated with sanctions or diplomacy. And military defeat didn't put a dent in their megalomania. Putin doesn't need Biden's ramblings to miscalculate a situation, and the one invincible force he has at his command is his ego. Putin is the protagonist in this drama. Biden will swell a progress and start a scene or two. He's full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse--almost, at times, the Fool. The one you have to worry about is Putin. I don't think Putin is Hamlet, nor was meant to be. I'm thinking Edmund from King Lear. "Now you gods, stand up for bastards."

Me too, maybe these people calling for WWIII are just too young to have experienced the power of the American war drum machine in creating war fever.

BTW, I liked the new Dune, but when it ended in the middle of the story, I was like WTF? But I will definitely watch Part II.

Hunter Biden's encrypted blackberry may have done the Ukrainian biolab deals with Metabiota, but Hunter is not the mastermind of the Ukrainian biolabs. That's Cofer Black of Burisma.

As we have stated before, Nellie Ohr with MITRE managed the Soviet Biopreparat scientists' program at US National Labs. Russian Spokesman Kirillov named one lab, Los Alamos, where Lisa Page's father worked, but many went unnamed like Livermore, Sandia, PNNL, Oak Ridge, etc.

secret plan for a “peacekeeping mission” involving 10,000 NATO troops from different countries entering Ukraine and imposing a limited no fly zone is allegedly being prepared by the Polish government.

Polish news outlet Onet reports that President of Poland Andrzej Duda is waiting on a green light from the White House to implement the proposal.

Created by the Polish Ministry of Defense, the plan would see 10,000 NATO troops formed of an international contingent sent to Ukraine to “protect humanitarian corridors” and enforce a no fly zone over them.

“It means setting up military units, at a distance from the frontlines, that would be tasked with defending humanitarian convoys with food and medicine and the ones allowing civilians to escape danger,” the article states.

Of course, the official reason for sending the troops and the real reason could very well be somewhat different in nature.

According to ReMix News, “One of the scenarios includes implementing a no-fly zone over the largest of Ukraine’s cities, which would mark a serious escalation and likely a direct conflict with Russia.”

The plan is seemingly on hiatus because of a disagreement between President Duda and the Ministry of Defence with Law and Justice (PiS) leadership because Duda wants Washington’s approval before going ahead.

According to the report, the White House will consider the plan before Thursday’s NATO summit in Brussels before a decision is made.

PiS head Jaroslaw Kaczynski previously visited Kiev, where he appealed to NATO powers to implement the “peace mission.”

“I would like to appeal to conscience of the European leaders. I think that it is necessary to have a peace mission: NATO, possibly some wider international structure. But a mission that will be able to defend itself, which will operate on Ukrainian territory,” said Kaczynski.

Mark Knoller (formerly of CBS NEWS) said the Biden speech was on par with Reagan’s “tear down this wall” speech. Did anyone in Reagan’s entourage have to walk back anything he said in that speech almost immediately?

tim and narciso, I'm pretty sure the Poles aren't fools and know they are going to bear the brunt of a shadow (or maybe not so shadow) war once the Russians decide they need to stop the Ukrainians from freely importing Stingers and Javelins. I would bet their plan, like the French plan for the British Army in 1940, only requires a US contingent of 1 soldier.

Yep - a big pile of Colombian flake and another artist/musician who should know better by age 50 bites the dust. Everything to live for but not enough sense to make that happen. Dumb ass.

Common Sense from a Democrat:

The calls for Justice Thomas' impeachment are entirely disconnected from any constitutional or logical foundation. Rather, the Thomas controversy shows how the impeachment mantra has become a raging impeachment addiction. https://t.co/2JS1QWgRAv

...The calls for the impeachment of Justice Thomas are ludicrous but there is nothing laughable about the impeachment addiction fueling this frenzy. Impeaching Thomas based on these grounds would expose all justices to the threat of impeachments as majorities shift in Congress.
