Feel good of the day (so far):

The Mayor of Ottawa called some tow companies and asked them to start towing trucks out of the city. The tow companies reply? "We've got Co-vid."

As usual "Conservative" Rod Dreher is joining the Liberal/Left in attacking the Tennessee School board for "Banning" Maus. Of course, they didn't "ban" anything, they just took it off their "recommended reading list" for those in Middle school.

Of Rod is going into hysterics writing it was "shameful" and saying he and his family would be "Mad as Hell" over the "book burning". Can anyone explain how Rod Dreher became known as a Christian Writer or a Conservative?

What sort of "Conservative Christian" wants 12 year olds reading a comic book full of nudity, curse words, and that shows Polish people as Pigs? Its not like "Maus" is the only book on the Holocaust. Assuming there's any real need to teach AMERICAN kids about a EUROPEAN holocaust of 77 years ago.

Its just more Rod Dreher sucking up to the New York Times. "I'm really one of you" he's constantly implying. He chortled over the death of Ashli Babbitt, hyperventilated over the Jan 6th "insurrection", cried over George Floyd, was "Shamed" and "Outraged" over the Covington Kids, and fell for the Poor little trayvon hoax. And of course he was A-0k with Hillary and Biden winning the white house because Trump was a Nazi/homophobe bigot or something.

You either believe in local school control or you don't. And if you do, you certainly don't support the NYT's trying to bully some Tennessee schoolboard into keeping "Maus" - a vulagr comic book - on its recommended reading list.

I'm sure the author of Maus - or whoever owns the copyright - is delighted that Rod Dreher considers it essential reading in every school in the USA.

Think how crazy it is, this leftist plan to run the country via the U.S. Supreme Court.

While you simultaneously deconstruct the Constitution so that it can say anything, and your unelected officials can do anything.

Let's just suppose, for instance, that Barack Obama, or a future Barack Obama, had five openings at the Supreme Court. They're all ancient anyway, the Supreme Court, so it's entirely possible COVID or some other future disease wipes out five Justices in a week or two.

We will simultaneously suppose that Democrats control the Senate.

And Barack Obama nominates, obviously, whoever the fuck he wants to.

Okay. And he says, "I'm going to fulfill my affirmative action destiny! This is why I am here, why I was elected."

And he says -- in this scenario Obama is as dumb as Joe Biden -- "I am going to nominate an African American male." (And his audience cheers). "I am going to nominate an African American female." (And his audience cheers). "I am going to nominate an Asian American female." (His audience cheers). "I am going to nominate the first homosexual to the United States Supreme Court!" (And his audience goes wild). "And I am going to nominate, wait for it, the first Muslim to the United States Supreme Court!" (Tepid applause, Obama looks a little disgruntled, shakes his head, and then continues his nomination speech, which last for another four hours).

Obama nominates five hard left socialists to the United States Supreme Court. In furious background discussions, Obama threatens to call any Democrat Senator who votes against his nominees a racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-Islamic son of a bitch, and to actively campaign against them.

All five socialists are confirmed to the Supreme Court.

Once on the Supreme Court, the socialists take the Mark ("I'm evil as shit!") Tushnet approach, to advance the cause of socialism. They do and say whatever the fuck they want. They issue the most insane woke agenda, from the United States Supreme Court. We have to wear red on Thursdays, the Constitution requires it. And so on, and so forth.

I am not kidding when I say this would destroy the Supreme Court completely. It's not the Constitution that would fall, or the republic. But by fuck, the Supreme Court would take some hits. Either that or armed rebellion by the citizenry. I mean, we've had a civil war before, that definitely could happen again. But whatever happened, the Constitution would be restored. It would be the Supreme Court -- that unelected weak spot in our republic, and Hamilton let me just say officially you were an idiot for thinking it was "the least dangerous branch" -- that got seriously revamped.

So if the Supreme Court, the Senate, the President, the people of the United States of America, would like to avoid this shit, let me suggest that you nominate

1. Textualists who will promise to follow the written text of the Constitution, like Hugo Black and Nino Scalia (and Gorsuch!)

2. And you never nominate anybody who is liable to make shit up on the Supreme Court, and who says that words can mean anything. So you avoid people like William Brennan (I call him "that fucker") or Robert Bork (who once deconstructed the free speech clause out of existence).

3. You avoid all this woke racist stuff, which is divisive as fuck, offensive to most everybody, and will not be taught to fucking 9-year-olds, you idiots

And the Supreme Court ought to declare racism unconstitutional before it's too late. And Roe v. Wade, while it stands, is a reminder to our entire republic that the unelected branch is dangerous, and can and will do evil shit. You need to fix your fucking disasters, not pretend that nobody has noticed and you can keep covering it up.

Follow "Teh Science" ya'll!!

"Speaking to Fox News, scientists from the U.S., Britain, Germany, Israel and Australia have recounted that it was difficult to publish research about the possibility that the COVID-19 pandemic began due to a lab leak, and that they found themselves shunned by other scientists, even when those scientists themselves found the lab-leak theory plausible.
"We got our heads shot from every direction, from people who we now know were actually thinking exactly the same thing, but have chosen to say the opposite," Nikolai Petrovsky, a professor of medicine at Flinders University in Australia, told Fox News Digital.

The scientists speaking to Fox News claimed that others in the field were desperate to protect the scientific community -- and funding -- so they coalesced around the single idea that a lab leak would have hurt their work, and the community. The scientists who supported the theory had research papers rejected, and the media branded them conspiracy theorists.

Lord Matt Ridley, author of the book "Viral: The Search for the Origin of COVID-19," told Fox News that funding was also a motive for silence. "Senior scientists were quietly saying to me, 'We think you're right that it does need to be taken seriously, but we don't say so because the funding agencies might give us a hard time.'"

My gosh! There's so much "Teh Science" going on around here!

Rod was marketed that way by his billionaire radical democratical funders, by NeverTrump democraticals, and by Conserverative Inc grifter democraticals.

Pretty simple really.

Wait a second St Croix. I was told that conservative original constitution jurists now dominate the current SCROTUS. The talk is they are going to dismember the libtard house of cards one sacred cow at a time.

I love the anger, though. Very convincing.

What I would like to know is how some of these people who are so upset about one school system choosing not to use a graphic novel as the main text in a history unit, due to it containing profanity and a depiction of nudity, would feel if their local school's health teacher decided to use a viewing of Deep Throat as the focal point of the Sex Ed unit.

I'm sure most blue state parents would shout 'hallelujah' without knowing that 'hallelujah' means 'God be praised'.

Also getting tired of hearing how Maus is being 'banned' when banning a book is more along the lines of the printing/distribution/possession of a book being made illegal by Federal/State/Local government. That isn't what's happening in Tennessee.

I read Rod Dreher fairly regularly. He can be interesting and insightful on some topics. But it's very strange how he can be Cassandra in one post - "Live not by lies!" - and then fall for the latest liberal narrative in the next post. He likes to play the "reasonable conservative" game, like David Brooks or Andrew Sullivan. It's hard to tell whether he's being disingenuous, or is unaware of his inconsistencies.

Re: book burning

Does anyone else remember the episode of The Waltons where the town was burning books written in German and Johnboy was so passionate in pleading for them to stop? He plucked a book off the top of the pile and asked if anyone could read German- if they would please read the words of the harmless book. Mrs Brenner, I think her name was- read in German and then again in English… the 1st chapter of Genesis. The Bible. I remember that- not sure if I got it 100%, but close.

Human nature…
