"The Texas Department of Public Safety said the man had demanded to see his 'sister,' who may not actually be related to him and who is currently in U.S. federal custody..."

"... for 'terroristic events' in Afghanistan. 'The man claims he and his sister will be going to Jannah (Muslim belief of heaven) after he sees her,' the department said in a statement earlier on Saturday. The congregation had been holding a service... being live streamed on its Facebook page when... a man could be heard shouting about dying and not liking police officers... Many Jews expressed exhaustion on Saturday at the security concerns surrounding practicing their faith at a time when antisemitism comes from many sources, including white supremacists and Islamic extremists.... 'This is Jewish life in 2022... Unfortunately, lax border controls (not just the southern border) leaves the U.S. wide open to this sort of thing. It is part of crime prevention that the left does not want, but will lay blame on law enforcement when a crime like this occurs.

What exactly did “white supremacists” have to do with this event? NYT executing a pivot before the blood has been mopped off the synagogue floor.

FBI remarkably incurious about the motives; I guess their A team is busy looking for nooses reportedly found on a garage door handle.

I call bullshit. My husband and I attended awesome in-person, maskless Chabad services yesterday, followed by a lunch prepared by the Rebbetzin and warm fellowship. The Rabbi remarked that when confronted with the Egyptian army at the Red Sea, the Hebrews had 4 options: plunge into the sea and die, surrender and go back to slavery, fight the Egyptian army, or pray. Reform Congregations like Beth Israel have chosen the second option in the face of anti-Semitism. It hasn't saved them.

The reporting on this event by foreign news sources is much better than the reporting by major American news sources. If you want to understand what happened, Althouse, then the New York Times is not the place to go.

How did this guy get into US? DHS has repeatedly claimed that ZERO people have been killed or injured in attacks committed by terrorists who illegally crossed the Southwest border. Are these claims still true?

At least 100,000 "special interest aliens" from Muslim majority countries have been apprehended at the Southern Border over the past ten years. These men are considered "potential national security threats to our homeland." Yet DHS continues to claim that "no illegal border crosser has committed a terrorist attack on U.S. soil, to date." Seems hard to believe. Nobody got through? Nobody went a stabbing rampage? Nobody drove their SUV into a bunch of kids? Nobody took a rabbi and four people hostage?

I believe the sentence up to the comma. Anti-Semitism comes from many sources, and many Jews are scared and probably exhausted with all the security concerns and security measures. But I'd want to see how many of those interviewed (assuming anybody was interviewed at all) specifically mentioned White supremacists. It seems to have become a catch-all term.

We know who it refers to. White guys like the ones who shot up the synagogues in Pittsburgh and San Diego and Kansas City and the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. Such people do exist. Whether they all define themselves primarily as White supremacists, I don't know. Love for Hitler does seem to be a common thread, one they may or may not share with some assailants who obviously weren't White supremacists, or even White.

Good point, Gilbar. I almost filled you in on Hitler's actions but fortunately I kept thinking that idiot is not that much of an idiot. In this century Jews are being categorized as "white" and members of the majority and hence oppressed for that. https://www.jpost.com/jerusalem-report/are-jews-white-and-why-it-matters-632671
This why the Muslim recently seized the Jewish synagogue though he could have carried out the same action with the same rhetoric and demands while labeling the Jews "other and then he could have had the same news stories written about him. This shows why we need to decouple our sense of the world and its rationality and direction from the media and its billionaire controllers. Cash can be and not be at the same time in the same place and go forward and backward in time and billionaires think that means we and our lives are like that, too. We aren't digital like cash.

I sent the Bari Weiss column today to a good Jewish friend. I want to sometimes just shake my Jewish friends and scream that they funded and voted for this. They have, for probably better than a century now, funded the Dem party, and figured that that gave them a guaranteed seat at the table. They also, to a great extent, control the media. Not anymore. The antisemitism of Blacks and Muslims is drowning out any power Jews may have left in the Dem party. Their money and power in the media got us President FJB. And this is what they get for their troubles - his FBI denying that it was an antisemitic hate crime, when a Muslim holds Jews hostage in their synagogue to get the release of his Islamic terrorist “sister”. Of course, maybe he could have done the same in a Christian church, but last time that was tried, the security team immediately ended the threat, with extreme prejudice. It is Texas, after all, where self defense is treated seriously. My thoughts on making a church or synagogue safe from Muslim terrorism is to let it be known that their team dips their bullets in pigs’ blood.

Apparently, it is not uncommon for Islamists to refer to female Islamists as "sister" regardless of blood relation. You see similar use of "brother" and "sister" in Christian churches.

On top of that, in the local edition of the NYT the whole story was buried on p. 19. Kind of like they did with the gas chambers (not that there's any comparison of the two events, obviously).

Bruce Hayden said...

@Big Mike - bacon grease would be just fine, besides, you don’t actually have to do it - just tell the Muzzies that you are doing it. Still, if you kept the rounds for use as security during services, and immediately reloaded with standard rounds after the services, the amount of fouling would probably be minimal, since it isn’t every day that you have to defend your congregation from crazed Jihadists.
