... about 30° at 7:27 when I took that photograph.
Later, we drove out to a place in Madison that I'd never even noticed before, Governor's Island:
This is land that had belonged to a governor in the 19th century, that became the Wisconsin Hospital for the Insane, later called Mendota Mental Health Institute. It's where Ed Gein lived out his last years.
We enjoyed our sojourn around the beautifully scenic location. It was about 40° at 3:20, and we walked out onto the Lake Mendota ice... just a little way...
Watch out, if you go. There are, I hear, some "puddles."
I liked the view from the bluff...
Notice how the ice piles up in frozen "waves" along the shore.
We walked the entire loop of the small island, then drove home around to our side of the lake, where we got a glimpse of the sunset...
... as we entered the car wash:

Start hitting the Supreme Court website at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday). Expect a decision/opinion on the COVID vax case(s).
It appears the empty grocery store shelves that Howard and gadfly and Psircle-Back Psaki said weren't empty and the inflation that Howard and gadfly said didn't exist, then was only minor, then was only very temporary are really driving down the poll numbers for Biden's Earpiece.
Nooise! Or, Nooice! This place looks better with your pix, sunrise or no.
We have Presidents Island about five miles west of where I am now, which is part wetland and preserve, and part major inland port facility. Not as picturesque.
Happy birthday
mine is tomorrow - so e say to remember yours

Good news here in California. If you are health care worker testing positive, you are still allowed to work.
Makes sense to Newsome that ill people are exposed to the virus.
All will be forgiven and forgotten in time for 2024, or 2028 primaries.
I love Governors Island - it is a little known gem. It is much busier after the Covid lock downs - but never too busy. In the summer you can still see where the old beach use to be.
There is also a path the starts from the island and goes through Mendota Mental Health property that is great in the warmer months - it stays pretty close to the shore/bluff line.
I recommend finding a running/hiking path that is plowed and salted. There aren't many of them (gravel paths can't be plowed), but I found one after a lot of looking. You can have a real walk/run/hike, unlike whatever you want to call what you are able to do on paths with snow-dusted ice like the paths in the latest sunrise pictures. You're most likely to find one in a forest preserve.
Good one, Meade!
two thirds of americans say jo biden is a worthless pile of sh*t!
Let's GO Brandon!!
When you've lost 2/3rds of America..... You've Lost Middle America
The Kroger nearby upgraded their refrigerator and freezer units. Really nice really spacious... sparsely stocked. Think Idaho ran outta potatoes?
It's Hard to believe, that over 80 MILLION americans voted for jo, just a little while ago!
Oh, That's Right, it IS unbelievable.... on account of because it Never Happened
That last photo is gorgeous.
It takes a British tabloid to report on #EmptyShelvesBiden
We plan our shopping around going to different stores now based on what they are out of.
About 4 months ago we bought a freezer and spent a few hundred dollars filling it up with meat and essentials. We planned ahead because we saw this coming.
But other people are having trouble getting food at any price.
The ShitsHisPantsInPublic administration is not going to make it full term.
More "good" news if you happen to be a femocratical fully aligned with islamic supremacists: Biden's Earpiece is sending $300+ Million to the Taliban.
I wonder what the total amount in cash along with the hostages Biden's Earpiece promised his taliban allies?
It's kind of funny that Hunter Biden took on the job of laundering hundreds of millions of dollars for the real life Borat of Kazakhstan, and there is a picture of Joe Biden and Hunter with them, even though Joe has averred that he had nothing to do with his son's influence peddling operation, Joe and Hunter both seem to be pederasts, and yet Borat targets the Republicans looking into it.
It's never about what they say it's about.

I just bought the last package of plain English muffins at Publix, for double what they usually cost. Usually they have this price, but they are two for one, so I throw one pack in the freezer. They had all kinds of flavored ones, but I like the plain for breakfast sandwiches.
This is the second time I have been unable to find them.
"Think Idaho ran outta potatoes?"
Some thoughts on that at The Last Refuge
Initial food instability signs in the supply chain. Things to look for:
(1) A shortage of processed potatoes (frozen specifically).
The reason I list the shortage of potatoes as the #1 precursor is because every food outlet sells a potato in some form. Every supermarket and every single restaurant (fancy, sit down or fast food) sells some form of potato. Potatoes are demanded by every single food outlet; therefore, a shortage of potatoes is the first noticeable issue.

President Biden's overall approval rating in the last seven Quinnipiac polls: 49%, 46%, 42%, 38%, 37%, 36%, 33%.
But hey! It's an outlier!
Great pix. How did Meade shoot straight into the sun without wiping out the rest of his picture?
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiners Office has restored their public data site which was down for awhile. I'll have some new data in a bit. One thing that is different is that in January 2022 there are more cases where someone dies "with Covid" rather than "from Covid" than there were during most of 2021. Otherwise the pattern is as before except - but I'll have the data organized soon.

My Dad took me fishing on Governor's Island.
More evidence of my theory from yesterday that covid will soon be over (bad polling numbers) and the bargain the Democrats will make with voters is ‘keep us in power and we’ll do something about the big guy’ (really bad polling numbers):
Today, the people who have been studying covid turds at the Boston Harbor waste water plant say they have found the fewest covid turds since they have been counting covid turds.
Also Hillary still waiting in the wings. They say half of success is just showing up…
Tomorrow: employee mandates will be over…and the big guy will be one day older…
Armadillo sighting on the way home tonight. He was busy…
Thanks for the Wiki link.
My first thought was that Ed Gein was a character created by Martin Short......but that was Ed Grimley.
Australia may put Djokovic in jail?
Never go full Fauci.
Ann, are Ed Gein lampshades available through your Amazon portal?
Achilles said..."About 4 months ago we bought a freezer and spent a few hundred dollars filling it up with meat and essentials. We planned ahead because we saw this coming."
Now your only worry is if Brandon & crew can keep the electricity on, so your freezer works.
The Biden's Earpiece/Liz Cheney 2024 trial balloon is the absolute pitch perfect encapsulation of this political moment and captures the complete and permanent alliance between the deep state Forever War NeoCons and the far left democratical party.
"I just bought the last package of plain English muffins at Publix..."
The entire paper products isle at my Publix was completely empty today, except for a few packages of paper plates. No TP, paper towels, or napkins. Worse than March 2020.
Monitoring kids digital devices at schools is a bad idea. They are going to turn into adults who think snooping on people is ok, that it’s for their own good. The consequences of the remedy will turn worse than what it’s attempting to prevent.

I wonder what he thought of the cuisine.
It could be worse: we could be Canada…

Really lovely hidden gem of Madison. Views in summertime of downtown are lovely, as are the breezes.
Mendota has some spectacular burial mounds, including a truly massive bird effigy. There's info online on how to visit them, the grounds there really are a lovely walk too.
Did the path on the Mendota hospital grounds take you to any of the indian mounds on the property? One is the largest eagle or bird mound known.
