Yes it's too cold in Missoula to go out on a walk. Bad things can happen to your upper respiratory system.
It's just not prudent.
I went out for a little walk in the afternoon.
Still working my way through The History of Rock and Roll in 500 Trigger Warnings and still enjoying it.
Yesterday I started reading a book that might be a useful adjunct to fans of the podcast. The book is:
Something in the Air: Radio, Rock, and the Revolution That Shaped a Generation
It is only peripherally about Rock and Roll. It is really about the radio stations, DJs, top 40 philosophy, audiences, advertisers and so on.
Extremely well written and interesting.
Those 500 songs would not have happened without AM radio. AM radio owes a lot to rock and roll.

It is chilly here too.
78 American degrees this afternoon.
Come on down!

Bucs coach announces at post-game interview that Antonio Brown is no longer on the team after Brown stripped off his uniform on the sideline and left the stadium in the third quarter.
60 degrees here in slower Maryland. We’re supposed to get six inches of snow tomorrow.
We got it good and cold, at last. I like winter, in its place, and new year's is a good time to have a little snow.
American popular music and recording and broadcast technologies grew up symbiotically in the early-to-mid Twentieth C.; it's hard to imagine one without the other.
I had a thought about what I would like to see new for Althouse this year. I remember back when comments were very curated (Fondly since I made the cut several times, which could account for why I might desire such an idea.)
Anyway, what if Althouse had a weeklong curated topic each week. There are a number of very thoughtful posters here and it could be interesting to have the professor post a topic with a point of view (not necessarily HER point of view as she might take Devil's advocate) and then take one or two early rebuttals that then form the discussion to follow as we dissect the problem. Curated comments would be comments only on the positions taken to delve deep into the topic with logic and reasoning.
The drizzle that was laid down before the snow of the last couple of days made shoveling our steep drive very treacherous. Needed a bloody mary to calm down when I finally got it completed.
We had a tornado watch earlier but it was called off. The storms are moving just north of us. We’re porching and watching the light show while the Harry Potter reunion plays on the TV…
Its cold here in Southern AZ - 34 overnight and mid-50's during the day. Thanks to climate change we have had a lot of rain this year which makes up for a two year drought. However, it is always sunny when it isn't raining.
Very few places requite masks and those that do are ignored. Pretty much everyone I know (here and in the Midwest) has contracted the WuFlu. None have had any problems.
There’s been a seismic shift in the left regarding big pharma. Reddit used to shred big pharma all the time.

Now, if you dare question them, not only do you get censored, there’s something wrong with you.

It’s remarkable. At least to me it is. 🤷🏽♂️
I’m not optimistic about ‘22 but still have hope I’ll pleasantly surprised.

I've seen the videos. What (if anything) set him off?
I’m at relatives in Florida. So I’m posting with my phone. HTML linking is a pain using a phone.
Worst part of the day today- I didn’t wear shorts for golf and wilted late on the back nine. I got too hot…
Another good year trading stocks, up 43% for the year and once again I outperformed Warren Buffett.
You would think an NFL player who has burned so many bridges and still has a chance to gain back some of the tens of millions he has lost by being a head case could keep it professional the last few games of the season. I sincerely hope hope Antonio Brown can get the mental help he needs but when he has a 40 million dollar or so contract with raiders after making bank with Steelers and screws that up it’s hard to feel sorry for him. Then assaults his moving company driver and getting in hot water over the fake vaccine card because he didn’t pay his personal chef? C’mon man
"Worst part of the day today- I didn’t wear shorts for golf and wilted late on the back nine. I got too hot…"
Sounds sucky (seriously).
I don’t know what started the Scott Adams dust up but I went over there and it looks like when some national media types thought Ann put had foot in mouth disease.
I don’t recall what that was about either but it drove me here…
Love the Yellowstone TV series on Paramount!
But in typical Hollywood fashion they skip over Nebraska. Nebraska is the best place for cattle. Not as cold as MT and more water than TX.
It's warmed up here in Pugetopolis. The rain is falling and melting the snow. It's just slush now. Very few people bother to shovel the snow because we know it will be gone soon.
Adams makes some shit predictions and buries ledes while crowing about being a master of just about everything. When he gets called out he leans on weasel wording, then claims everyone else is "hallucinating" what he said.
He often misuses basic concepts like "cognitive dissonance" and redefines words on the fly. Other than that, a great podcast.

So- it’s a sure thing now, looks like.
Farmgirl,
If you are talking about T-Mobile text messages linking Gateway Pundit being censored, it is a sure thing.
My wife and I both have T-Mobile phones and I spent a few minutes trying to text some GP links back and forth.
They do not go through. Links to other sites, like Instapundit to. If I change gateway to gatway in the link, leaving the rest the same, it goes through just fine. Bad Link, though.
This is really outrageous.
GP is tryng to get a statement out of T-Mobile but nothing yet.
One commenter wrote in to say that T-Mobile is blaming it on Google.
I've been with Sprint (Now T-Mobile) for 20 years. If there is no good explanation I'll switch. Seems like this violates terms of service.

We were at 75 degrees F yesterday here in Oak Ridge, and it is supposed to snow tonight after the front goes through. Reminds me of the time I was in the 6th grade in eastern Kentucky- we went out on Christmas break around the 18th of December, and the Sunday before we were supposed to go back to school after New Year's it was 70 degrees and balmy, but by the next morning it was 20 degrees and we had a foot of snow on the ground. We didn't go back to school that year until mid February- 6 weeks of snow days.
Antonio Brown twice refused to go in the game when the coach told him to. He was also pissed off because they were losing by two TDs (at the time, so I read). So the coach benched him. That's when he took off his jersey as he was heading to the locker room. (Or wherever it was he went.) Head case for sure.
" 6 weeks of snow days."
What?
BG ---- CTE is possible. The guy has friends on the team and he ignored them.

I have a similar divergence between hope and expectation. I'm connected with enough true-believing Lefties on Facebook to know they do not perceive the same reality I perceive. I don't understand how you find common ground without a common reality. It's depressing.
It's been unseasonably warm here, still in the low 80s every day. I can usually stop running the AC and go windows open Dec-Mar. The upside is that the gulf is still warm enough to swim.
And in related news, my home state of MD was in the 60s today and expecting about a foot of snow tonight into tomorrow.
>I've been with Sprint (Now T-Mobile) for 20 years
I ditched our 4 lines with Sprint and went to Mint, after getting soaked every month for crazy fees.
With Mint - prepay, bring your phone, $15/month/phone if you use less than 5G of cellular data per month (I use about 4G it seems...)
They run on the Verizon network. So far, so good!
I was in a melancholy mood yesterday morning at work, so I went looking for some upbeat music -- no sad songs. I first tried one of the happy pop song playlists, but I went through about four unfamiliar songs worth of synthesizers and heavily processed vocals and felt kind of like I had walked into the temple of some alien religion. Not sure what god those people up front were worshiping but I was pretty sure it wasn't mine. Then I went to the upbeat classic rock playlist. 100 songs, I knew every one of them. That was my church! I spent the rest of the day listening to them.
Eleven degrees at kickoff at Lambeau last night - low single digit chill with gusting 7 MPH winds reported at GBA, down to two in Minneapolis and likely above 70 degrees inside US Bank Stadium where the Packers/Vikings game was not played.
Happy to report that the road to Super Bowl LVI at SoFi in sunny Inglewood must now go through top-seed Green Bay's frozen tundra. Go Pack!
They have a plan... https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadas-public-health-agency-admits-it-tracked-33-million-mobile-devices-during-lockdown
My run in Arizona on new year's morning was done at 22F, feels like 13F. That's pretty cold around here!
"... the road to Super Bowl LVI at SoFi in sunny Inglewood must now go through top-seed Green Bay's frozen tundra. Go Pack!"
Aaron Rodgers will not add another Super Bowl title while in Green Bay. Perhaps he'll win one for Denver or New Orleans or San Francisco or wherever he ends up after this year, but Titletown will remain Sorrowville for fans of The Pack. They have been good for most of the last 30 years, but they are big game chokers.

What kind of low class course allows shorts on adult men? For ladies and children, sure, but men?
I woke up to an Omicron snow storm this morning. They predicted 3 to 5 inches. I pulled a muscle in my back digging my snowblower out of the back of my garage. And we got a light dusting on our grass and nothing on the roads or sidewalk.
Lem "There’s been a seismic shift in the left regarding big pharma. It’s remarkable. At least to me it is."
Yeah, same with GMO's. Lefties hate GMO's, but have no problem becoming one themselves.
So, DarkIsland made my weekend. The quote "The History of Rock and Roll in 500 Trigger Warnings" has now officially become the way my wife and I refer to the podcast. We are really enjoying the series and the trigger warnings are just part of the territory and part of the fun!
Read dude
Thank you for the compliment but it's not my name.
I don't if we were talking about the podcast here or on the alt-Althouse forum on Discord.
I was commenting on how much I love the podcast but hate all the whinging. Somebody else called it th 500 trigger warnings.
I'd credit them if I knew who it was but I don't. I just use it.
