I finally watched the Joe Rogan/Dr. McCullough interview. It was way less conspiratorial than I expected. His primary point seemed to be that the push to have one official way of managing COVID that everyone is coerced into following is irrational and harmful. Which is obviously true and shouldn't be controversial.
Another way of getting a post censored from r/censorship (yes), for example. I posted the Darkhorse clip of the doctor talking about how his peer reviewed paper was pulled from a big healthcare scientific paper, and how he is going to take the to court.
Within a minute of posting, my reddit app notifies me my post has a comment. Certainly, no time to watch the 10 or so min. clip. I check the comment, and sure enough, it is an incoherent all caps screed about eugenics. My post was taken down within a few minutes later.
Call me conspiratorial, but I would not be surprised if there was an army of paid bots ready to troll anything their paymaster wants to be taken down. Whatever the algorithms missed, they get it taken care of.
I watched the new installment of The Matrix last night. I was pleased. My only criticism is that they still have the tendency to prolong talking scenes unnecessarily. Movie was about 15 min too long. Other than that, they lived up to their hype.
Kinda funny, though. When the Congressional carjackers land in Federal prison (they crossed state lines into Delaware), they'll be asked:
"What are you in for?" "I carjacked my Congresswoman." "Bro! You picked the wrong old white woman!" "Could have been worse." "Oh, really? How?" "I could have carjacked the Soros DA."
The forecast for Seattle and vicinity is snow fall on Christmas, but probably no accumulation. Then frigid weather for about the next two weeks after Christmas. Monday's low temperature is 10-deg F. Snowfall from Jan 1 to the 6th and temps in the mid- to low-30s. Haven't seen this snowy/cold weather in ages. The new ice age is on its way.
The Minneapolis cop Kim Porter that mistook her gun for her taser, was found guilty.
YouTube lawyer Viva Frei says if the conviction stands cops may just skip the taser, having the unwanted effect of having more civilians winding up dead, which is the reason for the taser to begin with.
The judge is not even allowing her out pending sentencing. No flight risk.
WHere you'd get the new Car? I just hi-jacked it. Damn, why aren't you in Jail? Some ol' white libtard bitch was behind the wheel. Didn't she file charges? No. She thanked me. Asked me for a Rape. What you'd say? Hey, I got standards man.
Mine is going to be delayed as I have COVID. I got the J&J in April and decided, with Omicron coming around, I would take my chances with that instead of a booster. So here I am. I did a home test instead of going for a "free" one. I found out in order to get the "free" one I had to answer a LOT of questions. As I was going on to the third page, I said "nuts" to this. It was getting too intrusive. So it is now my belief you have more people with COVID than the stats indicate. We're just staying home and taking care of ourselves.
Since I'm an older lady in my late '60s it felt more like a bad influenza (especially the first day) than a cold, but it's slowly getting better. I was probably more susceptible to infection because I had just recovered from a two-week bout with a sinus infection. I've been taking moderate precautions all along except for mask wearing. Masks bother my sinuses. I live in a county that lets us live and that is what I have been doing. I know the time of day the local grocery store has the least customers and I limit myself to just a select number of other stores, also when they aren't busy.
I am glad to finally get this COVID over with. I will now be super immunized. Too bad it won't count as "complete" vaccination.
Kim Porter screwed up, but it wasn't a malicious crime. I'd even argue that she was less negligent than Alec Baldwin. The guy she killed had a whole string of nasty felonies on his record that were far more intentional and malicious than the crime she committed. He received less prison time for these crimes than she will probably receive. This stinks. Why isn't anyone crying out for clemency for her the way they're moving boulders to pardon than truck driver in Colorado whose negligent actions killed four people.
I got through The Witcher. It's nowhere near as good as GOT, but it's fun and reasonably entertaining. I'm willing to accept some imitations....Lots of plot holes. The actors deliver some ripe dialogue credibly but with the exception of Henry Cavill, they don't really inhabit their roles....Much less nudity than GOT, but, on the plus side, more gore. The decapitations in The Witcher are much better done. Lots or arterial blood and hanging tendons. Still, it doesn't compensate for the scarcity of nudity. If you can't have a surfeit of nude women in a fantasy world, where can you have them....The men appear topless more often than the women. I suppose this is because so many episodes were directed by women. It's a disturbing trend. Must we now all submit to the female gaze?
I looked at the people who died of Covid between Dec. 19 and today (Dec. 23, 10 pm) in Milwaukee. The major points are: fewer people died this year than died in the same period last year; almost as many vaxxed as unvaxxed died (9 unvaxxed, 6 vaxxed). Have deaths fallen because of Omicron or the vax or both?
38 people died of natural causes; 15 of them from Covid; 2 more "with" Covid. In that period no otherwise healthy people died of covid, no one under sixty died. 7 unvaxxed people with two or more other causes died; 6 vaxxed people with two or more causes; 2 unvaxxed with one other cause. This is a very small sample but it is in line with the whole previous pattern of the disease in that vaccination is a protective factor but not complete protection, especially for those with several major systemic diseases. The sample is too mall to say whether it is significant that no one under sixty and no otherwise healthy person died of Covid. Last year 66 people died in the same period - one was under sixty and no otherwise healthy people died of Covid.
The Joe Rogan/Dr. McCullough video is out-of-the-box controversial when the doctor responds to Joe the Rogan's first query by pointing out that his specialty is cardiology - which makes him unqualified to write as an expert on Covid-19.
Better yet, our ex-president is again being inconsistent"
During an interview with . . . Candace Owens this week, former President Donald Trump actually pushed back on anti-vaccine talking points and encouraged viewers to get their shots. (Yes, you read that correctly.) After Trump boasted of his efforts in facilitating the COVID-19 vaccination, . . . the ex-president . . . firmly declare[d]: “Oh no, the vaccines work, but... the ones who get very sick and go to the hospital are the ones that don’t take the vaccine. But it’s still their choice. And if you take the vaccine, you’re protected... Look, the results of the vaccine are very good, and if you do get it, it’s a very minor form. People aren’t dying when they take the vaccine.”
I had covid in August. It was just a head cold, but with three nights of a mild fever. I saw my doc right after I had recovered for a regular check up and he thought it was covid. We didn't do any testing so it's one of those undocumented cases of covid. I'm in my mid-60s.
William:
Binge-watching the Witcher is on my schedule for today. I've seen the first two episodes and will finish the rest of them.
I looked at a very small time period in Milwaukee (above 12:04) to see if the pattern of deaths from Covid still held under Omicron. I thought that if Omicron was doubling every few days it might show up in the death rate even in a small time period in one city, Milwaukee. But all I could get was that deaths were lower than last year for the whole month of December so far, a month which began with Delta and presumably ends with Omicron.

Florida is open for business. And no one here is running away from a common cold like it is the death angel. They must be Republicans.
Criminals need to learn what their Congressperson looks like so that they don't carjack them by mistake!
Thank you, Althouse, for all of these pictures. Even the most unremarkable are appreciated.
