This morning at 11:23 a.m., I texted Meade a photograph (and a couple updates about the Pennsylvantia election), and it went like this...

We have heard all about the 2nd black mayor of somewhere.

But not the first black woman to win a statewide race in Virginia.

It is a total mystery as to why.

Now that's a gun!

And, as a Marine ("Every man a rifleman" and every woman too) she knows how to use it.

And, it should not need to be said but AB (after Baldwin) probably needs to be: She know how to use it safely.

Interesting that that rifle is actually outfitted pretty well. It has flip up backup iron sites, a realistic optic, foregrip, magpul mags.

It probably actually gets used.

Should I muse that it may actually be zeroed?

i love polka dots, especially random arranged ones instead of the uniform matrix dots. not all grown-up ladies like either version. waking up to this energy today is so delicious, shows me how brutal and bruising this year has been.

Let's go polka dots!

I've been checking in on ebay to see if anyone is unloading tiki torches for cheap. I'm thinking of a luau type backyard project to create a fun hangout spot for all my hawaiian shirt wearing friends.

I confess I'm concerned that the above described project might garner the attention of some overly zealous young FBI agents who are looking to make a name for themselves with the democratical 7th Floor Crew.

I know that there have been tectonic shifts, but it would an enormous geological event for residents of Newark to have awakened in Pennsylvania. And that would also go for the new Virginia (former Marine gun supporting) Lt Gov.

I'm surprised we didn't feel it out here in LA!....although I could certainly taste Joy Reid's delicious tears.

Pennsylvantia, New Jersey, whatever.

BTW, its absolutely imperative now that Youngkin govern and deal with the press the way DeSantis and Abbot are doing and not how a Milquetoast Surrender-monkey Romney would.

If Youngkin does that, and follows thru on the cultural as well as economic policies he has outlined during the campaign, and not lie about what he intends to do and then stiff his supporters the way Paul Ryan gleefully did in 2017/18, then that will set up Winsome nicely for 2025.

We'll likely continue to have close and indecisive elections within the margin of fraud until Republicans become too exhausted to care.

Pennsylvania, not Jersey?

Winsome. Now that’s a sweet name for a Corps-toughened chick in a powerful position. Cool.

Big Mike said...

All Republicans are racist white supremacists. That’s why they nominated Winsome Sears, and elected her.

Oh Yea said...

She must be destroyed. The Democrats cannot allow her to establish her credentials to run as a black Republican women for higher office such as Tim Kain's Senate seat that is up for re-election in 2024.

CNN's numbers at 4:55 pm today show that Youngkin received 1,672,xxx votes, the Jamaican immigrant Sears has 1,667,xxx, and the son of Cuban immigrants Miyarez has 1,658,xxx.

Virtually uniform numbers.

Can there be any other explanation for the racist, low-information voters voting with such consistency than they didn't realize minorities were on the ticket?

Racist Republican Virginia Voters Who Wear Confederate Flag Patches and Carry Tiki Torches Elect First Black Female Lieutenant Governor in State's History

'...In any event, Winsome Sears seems like the Real Deal Holyfield. She's a Marine, her husband is a Marine, she came here as an immigrant (from Jamaica) and seems to love America for what it's provided for her family.

That name -- "Winsome" -- is extraordinary. I'm a fan of old-fashioned female names that are virtues or compliments -- like Prudence or Verity or Honor or Constance (or Faith or Hope, of course) -- but Winsome is especially grand.'

I very much liked what she had to say last night. It was refreshing, fundamental and sane, spoken in a world that has gone in the opposite direction.

Last night the victorious Youngkin came across as genuine, thoughtful and ambitious in his prescription for actions to be taken. Given the strong, Christian faith he infused his words with, I predict he will become a favorite target of the legacy media and the DNC.

Talk about intersectionality...

I know White, male gun-owners read far too much into folks like Sears (as far as being representative of some larger trend) but, nevertheless, that image is interesting as a campaign statement. When I look at it, I see the gun first, and my mind immediately makes assumptions about the politics of the person holding it, completely regardless of their race or sex. I wonder how others instinctively react.

Jaq said...

It was a "reactionary" election, of course to Democrats, a 'reactionary' is the frog who jumps out when the water in the pot gets too warm.

Born and raised in Virginia and I love that pic - on it's own, but also as a mental replacement for the blackface image of the current governor that's been inescapable and riles me every time I see it - have never been able to process how any male born in Virginia with our tortured racial history thought dressing up that way *and putting the pic in the yearbook* was a thing to do. I decided it wasn't what was he thinking - but that he wasn't thinking - and somehow blissfully ignorant of the nastiness of it.

Campaigns to get elected are nothing more than that; campaign rhetoric is akin to whispers in the night.

Oh, and fuck Trump. You lost, pal. A loser by your own definition. How dare you take credit for any election. You went from America's most powerful political force in generations to riding the coat-tails of suburban moms that simply don't like their kids being taught they're racist.

So the NJ gubernatorial election is well within the margins of fraud- wholly and completely unexpected. And the NJ senate president was upset by a truck driver who spent <$200 on his campaign.

And Republicans made a clean sweep in VA, against all polling and expert predictions.

Tell me- are there any political experts out there who are actually experts?

Republican Ann Davison held a strong 58% to 41% lead in the race for Seattle city attorney, with returns Tuesday showing voters rejecting the brash language of her police abolitionist opponent, Nicole Thomas-Kennedy, in favor of Davison’s law-and-order stance.

No race in Tuesday’s city election was more fraught with the potential for unpredictable consequences than the race for Seattle’s official lawyer, who traditionally has prosecuted minor crimes and provided legal advice and defense for the city and its employees, including police.
- Seattle Times

When I heard that the Democrats had nominated a police abolitionist and she was certain to win, I felt like I was reading something out of Gulliver's Travels. This makes a lot more sense.

They put out a fake poll saying that Murphy was ahead by ten, and the national Republicans fell for it and sent no resources there.

Tell me that rigging polls serves no purpose.

The Republicans are so out of touch with their voters that they didn't even know when they were en fuego.

Save the race baiting for the mid-terms, every little bit of help to turnout Republican voters helps. Calling them racist for not being a Democrat is a proven method. I would buy you television time if I could.

"When I look at it, I see the gun first, and my mind immediately makes assumptions about the politics of the person holding it, completely regardless of their race or sex."

That's a fair assessment. The gun is quite representative of the political leanings of the owner. After all, one would not expect to see such a photo with Kamala Harris or Hillary Clinton in it. The liberal equivalent might a Planned Parenthood button or a Black Lives Matter tee-shirt.

You know where I saw the most bullshit obvious prop rifles?

Carried by fobbits in Afghanistan. They even had a special foregrip that could become a bipod that you could check out from supply.

Most people in the army and marines are support. If she can use that thing she is the exception not the rule.

My comment was born of optimistic surprise. I am looking for more of her speeches now. I have my doubts about Youngkin, but she might be the real deal.

I’ve seen that foregrip for sale at gunshows. What’s wrong with it? I compete with 19th century black powder guns (actually replicas thereof by Pedersoli, Pietta, and Uberti) and have no use for ARs or semiautos, but it looks like something I could use if I was shooting modern weaponry.

I saw a video clip of Winsome Sears at the range. It’s not on YouTube so it must have been campaign literature of some sort. Look, she isn’t in the same league as the late Chris Kyle, but if’s not a good idea to go kicking down her door at 3:00 AM if Antifa’s thoughts are tending in that direction.

The RNC should have been doing their own polling. If their own polling confirmed Murphy’s lead then they need a new polling firm ASAP.

Winsome will win some and lose some but this time she rode along on the Younkin victory, which was unsurprising since the gubernatorial race in Virginia and New Jersey has been won by the party which lost the presidential election the year before since 1980 - that's 12 in a row except that the GOP lost this year in NJ to a progressive from Taxachusetts.

Jaq said...

" she rode along on the Younkin victory"

We all know where that is going. She has no agency of her own. "These racists didn't even know they were voting for her, if they had realized she was black, they would have voted for the Democrat." Makes you wonder how she won the primary. If Hershel Walker wins, he will be a "h....." right?

I don't blame you for being bitter, after what has happened to the Stinkin' Project, but you should rein in the racism, just a little bit

Maybe a more Taoist approach is better. Head to head confrontations please the base, but don't achieve much in the end. Stopping the leftward push or drift and refocusing national or state energies on more worthwhile goals maybe more successful. They say "You can't turn back the clock," but a wise leader working behind the scenes can redirect change into less coercive and bureaucratic channels.

The idea was good. It was made out of cheap plastic and would break if you actually used it in the field. It also made the fore grip unusably large.

Everything I have seen from so far is good. She would make a better VP pick than Pence.

Her rig and stance seem just a little old school, not that I am a judge. The foregrip is last-gen and her Rule 3 grip is not what one sees today. Maybe those were current when last she had to salute people?

But as I said, I'm no judge. All the modern tacticool confuses and frightens me. I came up in shooting as a kid when the Weaver Stance was avant-garde.
