Why isn't this sort of thing too embarrassing to use?
The headline is: "Biden looks for a fresh start as he reunites the North American 'Three Amigos.'"
The article begins: "The last time the leaders of the U.S., Mexico and Canada met was in 2016, and the bonhomie among the trio that year was so apparent that it blossomed into an internet meme: #3Amigos."
Trump didn't continue the "3 Amigos" approach, because he "forced through a North American trade pact to replace NAFTA," and Canada and Mexico didn't find that very nice — not very amigo-ish of him to put America first the way he did. So here comes Biden, and NPR sure hopes he'll inspire cutesy internet memes the way Obama did back in 2016.
And won't that be so much better than Trump's "North American trade pact"? By the way, Trump's pact has a name. Unlike NAFTA, NPR can't see fit to say the name. It's the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

What was the "force" that Trump used?

In fairness to Trump, he was elected President of the United States, not President of North America.
Trump won, he was a solid pro-American people president. The corrupt left did all they could to destroy him with Russia Russia crooked FBI Maddow+Hillary lies.
The left continue to erase Trump. You know - like good Soviets.
Say its name!
If We, via our govt, do not put the USA first, who else will?
Does anyone seriously expect that the Queen's PM in Canada doesn't put Canada first?
Does anyone seriously expect that the President of Mexico does not put Mexico first?
What kind of lunacy is it that does not put America first? (By US Govt)

But they cancelled the press conference with the Three Amigos because Joe can't be off his leash so soon after blurting out that bridges are so important because if a bridge was out the fire department would have been delayed in helping Fake Doctor Jill after she was trapped in their house "that burned down around her." Turns out there was a small kitchen fire a few years ago, but Joe's house did not in fact "burn down" as he lied about on Tuesday. Apparently he was not sufficiently recovering his senses fast enough to allow unfiltered questions today. As a fallback measure, he will be allowed to pretend not to hear reporters' questions today following he Three Amigo's "spray" appearance.
To quote the great James Taranto, "The country's in the best of hands." Yes, that is irony of the sarcastic type.
Maybe they can get together as screw American labor again, like they did with the last NAFTA! Labor is so deplorable, they have it coming, like the song in "Chicago" says. These American jobs are so worthless that other countries fight over them.
Remember when Democrats gave advice to Canadians about sanctions in order to inflict maximum pain on Republican House members like Paul Ryan? Good times, good times.
And some people fall for this shit.
Three Amigos? Doesn't NPR know how culturally insensitive that phrase is!
The current Mexican government is quite happy with the trade agreement. They negotiated for 55 straight days with the Robert Lighthizer-led American trade delegation and got a deal that encourages heavy industry and other production in Mexico. They did so after Justin Trudeau rejected the idea of also doing so with Canada.Concurrently AMLO worked out an arrangement to reduce the illegal immigration problems at the Mexican-American border. Those were the good old days.
Why are taxpayers still funding the liars at NPR to begin with?? Progressives with an agenda run that Government sponsored channel, and it is time to defund them, and let listeners pay for that drivel.
That's horribly racist!!
Give NPR credit for trying something cheerful. When a commercial comes on in my car, I push the button for NPR just to see - and its almost always a story about something else I should be concerned about. The girly voice is OK, better than the strident urgency of the commercial.
And while the USMCA is far from perfect, it is 10 times better than NAFTA.
Isn't Biden trying to reunite ALL the amigos?
not very amigo-ish of him to put America first the way he did.
Terrible, terrible. "He Fights"
I think we can ALL Agree, as listeners of NPR;
That
THE ROLE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, is to Help Other countries get ahead
THE ROLE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, is to Hurt the people of the United States
THE ROLE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, is to DESTROY AMERICA
DEATH TO AMERICA!!!! LONG LIVE BIG BROTHER!!!
Look for them to censor the publishing of polls and just start lying about them.
The comeback kid! (Not that anything’s wrong or anything…it just bad messaging. When will you people learn…)
As I remember the Trump USMCA really cut China out of rebranding using NAFTA. Of course, because NPR has congenital TDS they'll never explain the benefits.
Trump was the best president this country had going back to at least Coolidge.
I would go back farther.
NAFTA was great. Canadian firms could import cheap ChiCom steel and maybe cut it once and punch a hole in it, and then sell it to American companies as lower cost alternative to American steel? What's not to like? Why did Trump ruin such a great game?
It's funny to see the Republicans become the party of labor, but the Democrats didn't want the job anymore, which is what Trump figured out, and which is what infuriated the left, their manifesto, "The Emerging Democratic Majority" depended on them keeping everybody on board, even when, like unionized labor, and African Americans, the Democrats stuck in the shiv.
Does this mean we can call Biden "El Guapo"?
Or, considering the rumors about what happened in Rome, maybe we should make that "El Guano"!
I think that the current crop of putative "Tres Amigos" look at each other and say, "He's no amigo of mine!" And I'm not saying that like it's a bad thing. Of course Slow Joe may have trouble getting the words out of his mouth.
It seems like it would have been impossible for Trudeau and Trump to get along very well, but Lopez Obrador didn't send Biden victory congratulations for months. AMLO believed one election had been stolen from him and that other Mexican elections had been rigged, so apparently he understood what Trump was going through.
The perception of amical relations between national leaders has to do with whether their agendas coincide and their countries can agree. The leaders could actually hate and despise each other, but if their staffs are on the same page policywise, everything is copacetic and you won't hear about what's really going on behind the scenes.
It's also what infuriated the GOP establishment, as importing cheap Chinese alternatives and third-world labor was what the corporations and Chamber of Commerce folks had long desired. Everyone in power was a globalist, no matter the costs to the people on the ground.
The treasury says the national debt
Is climbing to the sky
And government expenditures
Have never been so high
It makes a fellow get a
Gleam of pride within his eye,
To see how our economy expands
The country's in the very best of hands
The country's in the very best of hands
The best of hands
The best of hands
You oughtta hear the senate
When they're drawing up a bill
Whereases and Towits are crowded in each codicil
Such legal terminology
Would give your heart a thrill
There's phrases there that no one understands
The country's in the very best of hands
The building boom, they say
Is getting bigger every day
And when I asked a feller
How could everybody pay
He come up with an answer
That made everything okay
Supplies are getting greater than demands
Not much has changed in 60 years.
Except maybe for that very last sentence.
In USA, is called USMCA.
In Canada, CUSMA.
In Mexico, T-MEC.
USA is never last in any acronym.
I'm surprised that Biden's friends would want to compare him to one of the characters in a movie that starred three comedians who are world famous for their clownish behavior.
“Forget it, Jake. It’s NPRtown…”
I remember the Three Amigos as a Disney musical routine staring Donald Duck. IIRC it was a Good Neighbor Policy propaganda effort.
They can wear pink MNAGA hats.
"I remember the Three Amigos as a Disney musical routine staring Donald Duck."
That was "The Three Caballeros." The Three Amigos were Martin Short, Chevy Chase, and Steve Martin. White guys pretending to be Hispanic heroes in the movies. Cultural appropriation by leftist assholes. Yeah, I'm shocked.
Three Amigos is the comedic riff on KUROSAWA’s Seven Samurai. From tragedy to comedy to farce seems to be the theme on how the country is being ruled now. And with PINO going in for a check up we’re going to be subject to doctor’s lying about his condition.
Didn't the 3 Amigos turn their heads and cough as in a hernia exam?
Now I understand the reference with Biden.
