If that seems crazy, it must not have been an "insurrection."

"Lindsey Graham Reportedly Called for Law Enforcement to Shoot Jan. 6 Rioters During the Attack: 'You’ve Got Guns. Use Them'" (Mediaite).

I've known store owners to say the same thing. Except that was during a riot.

You know, arson, burglary, shootings, etc. Mostly peaceful protests.

Lindsey is apparently in his final term as a Senator. Planned or not- he's done.

I could never figure this guy out, what he really stood for, and where his foundational beliefs began and ended. He was whatever he had to be, depending on who he was trying to convince. Like Obama, but not as effective.

I'll bet Lindsay Graham wasn't the only one. The Capitol Police probably thought the rioters were armed too. That might have been what prevented more bloodshed...which is what the 2nd Amendment is all about, the government has to respect the potential power of an armed citizenry as well as the citizens respecting the power of the government.

Plus Lindsay was pretty angry at the rioters for what happened in his pants that day.

Bob Boyd said...

Lindsay was doing okay that day until one of the rioters told him he had a "real purty mouth".
That's when he lost it and started shrieking for the cops to open fire.

And we the people give Senators weapons for a reason. Legislative and advise-and-consent weapons. If only Lindsey had used his.

Context matters. A chaotic situation where nobody knows what's really going on can provoke all kinds of reactions. Somebody shouting at Graham that the Capitol was under attack and exaggerating the situation could have provoked this response. Or it could have been something he said with less cause or provocation.

Howard said...

Almost everyone who participated in the insurrection Cosplay theatre and the defense of Congress kept their heads. Lindsey's alleged demand for overreacting to the event was thankfully ignored. It could have been a bloodbath.

That said, it is clear that the stop the steal and loose talk of civil war by the armchair patriots and the Remington Ranger Militia (many of you on this very blog) are one and all responsible for the death of Ashli Babbett and the others who subsequently died from the physical and emotional pressure.

"If that seems crazy, it must not have been an "insurrection.""

It must not have been--besides Dems looking to exploit the incursion for the sake of their own power and The Narrative, whoever said it was an "insurrection" to begin with?

Excellent point there, Ann, in the headline.

True or not, I can absolutely see him running around with his hair on fire doing this.

Jan6 is the gift that keeps on giving. Should Trump come back to the White House in 2024, Pelosi could quickly move to impeach him for Jan6. In the immortal words of Rham Emanuel, “Never let a crisis go to waste”.

Maybe Graham just meant it in the Joe Biden, shoot a shot gun off your back porch, kind of way?

Lindsey Graham, putting the pol in poltroon!

Graham won’t be up for re-election until 2026. Plenty of time for him to mend fences. He grovels well when he wants to.

Isn't that what President Trump kept saying?

rcocean said...

I 100 percent believe that Miss Lindsey would do that. He's quite the bloodthristy character, and was willing to sacrifice thousands of Americans in useless wars in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In fact, stopping the USA from losing more men in Syria and Afghanistan got him quite upset. And he's never shown one ounce of concern for the hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians killed in these useless Mideast wars.

So, shooting down Trump supporters because they interupted his busy schedule? Of course. He probably orgasmed over it. As for Mitt Romney, he was supposedly in tears, when he thanked the Captial Hill police was "Saving" his life. BTW, the Senator (R-Creep) from ND, went on public radio and stated Ashli Babbitt was a criminal who deserved to die. That's the kind of people we have ruling over us.

Quaestor said...

Why is this accusation coming out now? He's not up for re-election until 2026, so it's too early for a primary challenger to emerge. South Carolina has no recall provision so it's not battlespace prep for a De-Horn the Rhinos movement. Though it certainly will prove useful to those favoring a recall amendment, current officeholders will probably enjoy "grandfather clause" immunity.

The link goes to the execrable Media-ite, which in turn relies on the even less wholesome Washington Post which, true to form, cites no named sources. Both entities are nothing but megaphones for lies and prevarications emanating from actual-president Killer Klain's MiniTrue.

Lindsey Graham is an unprincipled POS who richly deserves a full-body tar and feather job, but he's a victim in this case.

Wince writes, "Lindsey Graham, putting the pol in poltroon!"

Another group that I would've never heard of except from our Leftist friends obsessing over them. Like Q-Anon, Proud Boys, I'm sure there's others.

Reportedly…. After 3 years of Russia Collusion reporting, that term is a signal that whatever comes next is likely conjecture to create a narrative rather than anything like reality.

As a new SC voter, best as I can tell it’s somewhere in the zone between political machine and outright fraud.

Didn't they already impeach him for Jan 6? I think they did. No matter, given how Democrats run things these days, they might impeach him for putting ketchup on his steak, which he eats well done.

Wilbur: "Remington Ranger" is an old school military term for the typing pool. Your service in the US Military must have been too recent to understand the reference to obsolete technology. My Bad.

Note that Republicans in DC are about as supportive of audits as democrats are.

Wilbur said...

Thanks, Howard. I Googled the phrase and turned up nada.

Critter said...

Anyone who actually knows the populist base that believed the 2020 election was stolen could not fear violence on Jan 6. If Graham said this or something close, it only shows that he is not personally familiar with the people he purports to represent.

You will recall that Howard immediately blamed the NRA for Alec Baldwin shooting a staff member point blank in the face.

Literally and explicitly.

So, you know, consider the source.

To be fair to Graham and Kinzinger and other RINOS present that day, they were deathly afraid of being gangraped by the mob the same way AOC was.

Howard said...

Wilbur: Thanks, I couldn't find it on Google either. Maybe it was a local Southern California military colloquialism.

Howard (not that Howard) said...

That's because the phrase is "Remington Raider".

doctrev said...

I'm surprised "crazy" keeps coming up. It's by no means excessive compared to most Democrat rhetoric. The problem is, as most people point out, that condoning a massacre of "undocumented tourists" would have been a fine excuse for martial law over the Capitol. Assuming that a massacre wasn't immediately answered with a real riot that would kill most of the Congress and the lightly armed Capitol Police. What a shame that would have been. Most of the police saved Lindsay's life with their quick thinking- I doubt they'll be able to handle a second such attack.

MSOM said...

The Mediate story is incomplete to the point of being meaningless as it does not report what the sergeants-at-arms had told Graham.

Tries to give the impression that Graham thought the rioters should be shot at for doing what they were actually doing. Of course he was really saying: "If someone is doing what you claim they are doing then use your guns to stop them."

Perhaps Washington Post gives the complete story; I didn't pay to find out.

This kind of confusion is quite common guys/gals who served minimum term military stints stateside or in Europe in the immediate post-Vietnam war era (sort of 1975ish to 1979ish).

Yancey Ward: "To be fair to Graham and Kinzinger and other RINOS present that day, they were deathly afraid of being gangraped by the mob the same way AOC was."

The "good news" for Kinzinger is that he won't be in congress ever again to face such a harrowing scenario.

I think he may have to learn to code since the Egg McMuffin (Evan McMullin) "Fake "principled conservative"' route of getting lots of far left democraticals to fund you to run for office and attack the actual conservative/republican in a race is getting to be quite a crowded lane going forward.

If the cops had shot some of these folks such that our nation’s capital wasn’t overrun such that our nation’s leaders were not forced to abandon the proceedings associated with the peaceful transition of power such that these leaders didn’t run away thereby leaving our nation’s capitol to the invaders, our country would seem less weak.

I know Meadehouse fusses a lot re the importance of Madtown statues being F-ed w/. It’s pretty cool that they downplay and make excuses for what happened in DC.

Seems like being an effective hack requires being less obviously full of BS. OTOH, a lot of people struggle w/ logic. Being fooled is as being fooled does.

Carry on.

LOL. Look at all the Miss Lindsey love. I guess you can love him by simply staying ignorant of what he stands for and has said in the past. He alway been able to fool the gullible rubes by tossing them some red meat and being conservative 1 year out of six.

If you can remember back that far, Graham was shrieking at the top of his lungs in mid-january about "insurrection" and was NOT, I repeat NOT, a Trump supporter during the impeachment. He stayed quiet and voted against conviction. He's still Grahmesty. STill loves open borders, free trade, and more wars. He was for Lieberman being McCain VP. He spent all of 2015, and most of 2016 calling Trump and his suppporters "Racists" "Bigots" "Isolationist" and "Homophobes".

He's talked big, and never does anything, for the Republican Base.
