WaPo's front page features 2 different articles about North Korea promoting its superiority.

1. "Shirtless soldiers lie on broken glass, smash bricks with hands as Kim Jong Un vows ‘invincible’ military": "The extraordinary videos were part of a 'self-defense' exhibition on Monday in which totalitarian North Korea showcased its latest nuclear and other weaponry..."

2. "Netflix hit 'Squid Game' is so big North Korea is using it to slam South Korean society": "While the dystopian series has gripped viewers around the world with its gruesome tale of economic despair and deadly childhood-inspired games, a North Korean state-run website says the production serves to highlight the 'beastly' nature of 'South Korean capitalist society where mankind is annihilated by extreme competition.' In a post published Tuesday, the website said 'Squid Game' reflects an 'unequal society where the strong exploit the weak.'... In June, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un branded South Korea’s entertainment scene — including K-pop — 'a vicious cancer.' He accused it of corrupting the 'hairstyles, speeches and behaviors' of North Koreans...."

One important thing to know about North Korea is that there is no gender inequity in wages.

The reason that South Korea is so much better for people than North Korea is that the capitalist system is so much more compatible with the Pareto distribution.

In any competitive system the vast majority of spoils are going to go to a small group of the the most competitive.

In a socialist society like North Korea that means the dominant political party is wealthy because they control every system. That means everyone else is poor.

Capitalism is more successful than any other economic system because it allows people to create systems and competitions that they can win. The vast majority of spoils in the Suntan lotion industry are going to go to a few companies. But that there is even competition in this niche market and that there are SOME winners creates a higher total number of winners.

In a marxist society there is no competition and there no winners in the suntan lotion arena. The only winners are the people who don't allow any other winners.

This is why democrats must be defeated. Because of their nature they hate success of others and they will do whatever they can to destroy them. This means the defeat will have to be military in nature. They are evil people and they will never leave others alone.

I'm waiting for the video of Kim Jong-un eating broken glass ...

That video was a bunch of old Karate tricks. Really old and not even creative.

I might do a response if I had a bunch of money to buy bricks and wood.

What a shocking display of toxic masculinity!

"Glass" can be made out of sugar and I'd be surprised if you couldn't smash bricks made in North Korea with your bare hands.

North Korea trying to 'cancel' South Korea? Rich.

I saw The Squid Game. It holds your interest, but Kim Jong Un's criticisms are on point. The show definitely takes a dour view of capitalism and the things people do for money. Kind of weird that a country that lives cheek by jowl with a nightmare Communist state should be so critical of capitalism......People do nasty things in the pursuit of money, but the really ghastly mass crimes have mostly been done to establish workers' paradises or the kingdom of God.......The show is surreal. Mass murders are done against backdrops of bright, primary colors that are literally playrooms for children. I don't know if this makes the murders more or less ghastly, but it's certainly a new take on mass murder. I understand that most totalitarian mass murders take place against a backdrop of concrete or mud and barbed wire so the South Koreans can be congratulated for presenting mass murder in such a cheerful and entertaining way.

Nothing's ever beat the Windows 95 Microsoft flight simulator, with people adding airplanes and scenery for vast reaches of the country.

More realistic stuff is just a pain to use.

They're progressives.

The trouble with realistic flight simulators is that the real airplanes are flown by computers already so all you're simulating in a simulation is computer input.

The Microsoft Windows 95 simulator had hand-flown airplanes. Stick, cables, control surfaces.

I wonder how Kim Jong-Un deals with the fact that one of the final three survivors in Squid Game is a NorK defector who needs the money to ransom her mother from his government.

Let's all play "Red Dawn".

Well shoot, I guess our broken glass and brick weapons systems are now obsolete.

Even from a distance of 6863.57 miles, the stink of decay coming from the Resident and the White House cabal is palpable.

NorK superman stunts.

I haven't (and won't) see either show, but Squid Game sounds like a Hunger Games knockoff--the sort of Cruel World saga that self-absorbed youngsters can't resist.

Oh, sure, bad mouth North Korea, but at least they care enough about the planet to turn out all the lights at night.

Imagine the impact if all countries followed suit. More better than a 55 mph speed limit.

"He accused it of corrupting the 'hairstyles..."

He might want to reconsider that criticism.

boatbuilder said...

Well, if they are corrupting the hairstyles of North Koreans, that is beyond the pale...

The Norks can’t be too tough. They had to get millions of Chinese to push some US guys from Chosen to Hungnam after their own guys were crushed, back in the day. I think there was a movie about it.
