The idea seems to be that to be a leader and to be a unifier are the same thing. That's only true if most of the people really want to go where you are leading them. That's impossible nowadays, and going where most of the country wants is not something Biden has even tried.
Also, Joe's idea of "competitiveness" seems a bit off. We may be making great strides in our competition with Europe to see who can have the most extensive and intrusive government bureaucracy, but that's not likely to make the country more productive.
