If President Biden were to die or become incapacitated, then Vice President Harris would become President, or assume presidential duties under the 25th Amendment.
In either case, Patrick Leahy would be President Pro Tempore in the Senate. The Senate would be split 50/50, as Leahy only gets one vote (not a second vote to break ties). In the case of Biden’s death, a President Harris would nominate a Vice President, but could not get her confirmed without at least one Republican vote. (Romney?)
In the meantime, Speaker Pelosi would be next in line. How would you like to be the only thing standing between Nancy Pelosi and the Presidency?

Every one of your Mendota Sunrise pics is stunning and memorable. Has anybody else ever done a similar series? Like your blog entries, you simply keep doing it. And sharing. Thanks.

PS: In the second shot, who are the couple silhouetted on the shore? Or is the lack of any personal detail part of the allure?

"South Dakota Is a Moral Sewer and Should Be Abolished"

Setting aside the question of how one abolishes a state; this is nothing more than the familiar hating on those knuckle-dragging, homophobes who have the audacity to procreate and thereby infest those tedious, square, flyover states........

But can we really 'talk' all night?

By the time the professor pushes the button on these, they are just posts in the ether...

I saw an LA Times article the other day about some people setting up a comedy coop following socialist principles. Curious, I scanned the article for examples of socialist humor, but the article had none. Obviously these young folks need some material, and I can help. Here is my contribution.

Worker walks into a State Beverage Dispensary. The bartender says,”You’ll have what he’s having.”

Worker walks into another State Beverage Dispensary and says,”To each according to his needs, and I need a whisky.” The bartender picks him up, throws him out the door, and says, “I’ll decide what you need.”

Worker walks into yet another State Beverage Dispensary and says,”I’ll have a beer.” Marx, the bartender says it will be $1.25. The worker slaps down a $10 dollar bill. Marx pockets the bill and walks away. “Hey, don’t I get some money back?” asks the worker. Marx says, “You have nothing to lose but your change.”

Worker has been waiting in line at the Goods Coop for hours and notices others leaving with large heavy bundles. “We will eat good tonight,” she thinks. “The coop must have just been restocked.” The line inches forward, and she eventually reaches the counter. “Got any meat?” she asks the clerk. “No.” “Got any cheese?” “Nah.” “Eggs, vegetables, bread?” “Nope, no, nyet.” “What do you have?” The clerk says, “We got bags of concrete.” I guess I’ll take one,” says the woman. “We just closed. Come back next Tuesday.”

An associate professor of political science dies and goes to the afterlife where he stands before Lenin. “You have a choice,” says Lenin. “A socialist workers paradise or hell.” “What’s the difference?” asks the professor. “Hell has heat in the winter.”

My wife is so fat, she has nothing to lose but her chins.

Thank you, comrades! You’ve been a terrific audience.

They, you know who they are, want to use Jan 6 as a pretext to put loud mouth parents at school board meetings in jail.

Consider, in your answer, that it's a matter of public record that Pelosi's father was closely associated with the Baltimore mob.

Nancy Pelosi's father Thomas D'Alesandro Jr. allegedly was a "constant companion" of notorious mobster Benjamin "Benny Trotta" Magliano and other underworld figures during his political years in Baltimore, MD. D'Alesandro was a Congressman for five terms from 1938 to 1947, and Baltimore mayor for three terms from 1947 to 1959. Magliano was identified by the FBI as one of Baltimore's "top hoodlums," and he widely was acknowledged as the representative for New York's Frankie Carbo who made his bones with Murder, Inc. and later became a made guy in the Lucchese family. The allegations are included in D'Alesandro's recently-released FBI files which Friends of Ours has obtained pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act.

The ChiComs are getting all hopped up on a movie depicting a battle in the Korean War where they defeated US forces. Don't worry though, this is not how dictatorships prepare their people for war.

Small world.
The same police officer that led a 2019 raid in Texas that resulted in the death of two of the supposed suspects also arrested George Floyd in 2004. The 2004 incident has resulted in a pending posthumous pardon for George Floyd.
The arresting officer is facing Fed and State charges "including tampering with government documents and felony murder" for the 2019 raid. More at Reason.

Man Dies From COVID-19 After Hospital Rejects Court Order For Ivermectin

Although Jeremy L. Carter was vaccinated against COVID-19, he still caught the virus at the end of August.
He became sick enough to be hospitalized at Rochester General Hospital and continued to deteriorate to the point where he was placed on a ventilator.
After consulting with Carter’s primary care doctor, Carter and his daughter Jill Alvarado wanted to try Ivermectin.
However, the hospital refused to administer the drug to Carter, even though the family said they would gladly sign away any right to file a malpractice lawsuit.

This forced Alvarado to sue Rochester Regional Health, where Rochester General Hospital falls — and she was successful. Finally, a judge sided with the family and ordered the hospital to administer the care.
Still, though, Rochester General Hospital refused. Rochester Regional Health filed an appeal on Saturday, and a hearing was scheduled for Monday, Lewke’s report said.
Carter died on Sunday.
