"In June... news began to spread among the Haitian community in South America that crossing to the United States had become easier under the Biden administration...."

"It seemed that there was a window of opportunity.... 'Lots of people I knew had made it across. I spoke to them. They were in Florida. Some were making the same in an hour that I was earning in a day'.... The most horrific part of the journey, all agreed, was the Darien Gap, a six-day trek through the mountainous jungle between Colombia and Panama, an area stalked by bandits and rapists.... At night the travellers, about 100 people including children, would sleep together in a circle so the whole group would be alerted to any threats from wild animals or criminals. Arriving, exhausted, at the Del Rio bridge and seeing the United States for the first time, Edouard convinced himself that all the effort he and Maricia had made would somehow be rewarded. 'I honestly thought the Americans were going to welcome us,' he said...."

From "Joe Biden treats us like slaves say deported Haitian refugees/At least 1,400 have been sent back to a country facing the most desperate times in its troubled history, writes Stephen Gibbs, Port-au-Prince" (London Times).

Top-rated comment over there: "Well run democratic countries cannot take in the worlds poor. The countries these people come from must change. Illegal immigrants should all be sent back."

The entire democrat presidential filed fell all over themselves welcoming ALL to our soon to be open southern border. The collective left want open borders, and they offered the world free stuff for ignoring our immigration laws.
bonus? +++Covid super spreader event.

At least 1,400 have been sent back

At least 9,600 have been admitted into the interior of the United States.

"Joe Biden treats us like slaves"

Cuz obviously, when you invade someone else's country, out of your own free will, for your own personal benefit, on the assumption that your life will be better, and that country says no, thanks, and sends you back, you are treated "just like a slave," just like all the slaves who walked into slavery and could have walked back very easily.

The striking thing in these slaves' comments, of course, is what is missing: any fear of persecution that would justify asylum, or any notion that other countries have laws one ought not to break. It's understandable: those things don't matter to Dems either.

This is an illuminating story.

The vast majority of illegals are being dispersed all over the country right now.

But this is very unpopular. So the Biden regime decided to send a few of his new serfs back.

And is trying to create a sob story to prey on the emotions of stupid people who are governed by their emotions.

Seems someone wanted to remake our country, and the makeover is proceeding apace. Wonder who that "someone" is, and what their motives are. A puzzle, no?

So far - about 600,000+ illegal entrants have been allowed in.

My understanding is that the sentiments expressed in the Top-Rated Comment are shared by a large majority in this country. I don't understand how the democrats get away with their open borders program.

The only way the shithole countries of the world are going to change is if we take control of them and run the countries ourselves. But we can't do that because it would be colonialism and imperialism, so we have to watch these countries continuously fail, and are then expected to deal with the consequences.

David Begley said...

Sending these people back will be a main issue in 2024.

The Governors must send their National Guards to the border to stop this.

Haitians have been abandoning shithole (sorry) Haiti for years. The ones showing up in Texas have been living in Columbia or I think Brazil. (Spanish speaking? Portuguese? Haitians speak French?). They "hear" Biden wants open borders, Trump was evil etc. Biden sends some of them (a small minority) "back" to Haiti, an extremely cruel outcome for them. The U.S. I believe is still close to no enforcement at all at the border.

Tens of thousands of active hungry angry lawless people, scattered everywhere, invisible to the State. Getting hungrier and angrier by the minute and that church basement charity dinner and cot won’t suffice much longer.

The guilt that drives the demand for, or acquiescence in, open borders, is exactly the same as the guilt that drives tolerance towards the “homeless” who camp on streets, sidewalks, parks, doorways, and otherwise take over and render unusable by anyone else large stretches of urban life in many cities. Guilt is the primary factor in liberal and progressive politics. It’s even the key factor in the climate change religion, where guilt over the original sin of industrialization can only be expiated through painful sacrifice. Has anyone written any scholarly books about guilt and its perversions and manifestations?

I'd like to know how many different sovereign countries they passed through to get to our border. I don't think they know what the concept of asylum seeking is.

William said...

Here's something positive I can say about them. They showed a lot of grit and determination in their journey here. When they do get here, they're not likely to hit the welfare rolls. They really do have the pioneer spirit....Here's a negative observation. The fact that they look upon border agents who are just doing their jobs as some kind of racist thugs makes me wonder about how accepting they will be of our laws and customs. Haitians produce Tonton Macoute type police at regular intervals. Chicken or the egg. Do brutalized people produce brutal police or do brutal police police brutalized people?.

Biden did terrible thing encouraging those people. They gave up everything and ended up screwed because of Biden and his team playing politics. Michael Yon did a good job covering the dangers of the Darien Gap.

This is a man made disaster brought to you by the Biden administration. The fact that he never visited the border during his long and undistinguished career speaks volumes.

Yes, unless a person can prove he/she qualifies for asylum before entering the country, then ALL illegal immigrants should be sent back. We must first take care of our own needy people, especially the at risk vets. People who are in favor of this insane situation of open borders are anti-American. Our country welcomes one million LEGAL immigrants a year. Biden is trying to please the far left wing of his party and by doing so will lose the next election to the Republicans. I DO NOT want to hear the word “racist” thrown around regarding this horrific situation. When I see big mouth Maxine Waters and Al Sharpton (tax evading crook) calling border patrol agents racists and that they are treating migrants worse than slaves, my stomach turns. The group that is the loudest and in favor of open borders are the most corrupt and anti-American. Al Sharpton has been a race hustler all his adult life and Maxine is a hater of white people. Enough, they should crawl back in their rat holes and stop trying to ruin the greatest country. Biden is a menace to this country.

The leftist Mayor of Tucson announced the city has one hotel to house illegals and will buy another. No referendum. "Pioneer spirit" indeed.

From a public policy perspective, I would suggest deporting them back to the country from which their trek began (i.e., the place they had been living) rather than Haiti - the countries serving as a funnel for illegals to march to our borders should suffer much more for their acts than they do.

Mike of Snoqualmie said...

Can we accept the illegals and deport the Democrats? Sounds like a fair trade to me.

These Haitians clearly believe in the supremacy of this white-run country. They are therefore racists and must not be allowed in to worsen the systemic racism that permeates all of our institutions.

The optics are bad. And when the optics are bad, Team Biden (occasionally) can bestir itself to act. Or to try to correct the optics at least.

Example One--chaos at the Kabul airport as Team Biden blows the bugout. Order up a drone strike against an ISIS terrorist--said drone strike kills ten mostly peaceful civilians--including 7 children.

Example Two--chaos at Del Rio. Deport two planeloads of Haitians, dropping them off at the airport in Port Au Prince. Now it's true that most of the people on those planes had left Haiti ten or more years beforehand. But hey, they're Haitians and they're back in their homeland and so what?

Example Three--chaos at Del Rio. Thousands of people still camped under the overpass on Friday morning. On Saturday they've all disappeared---bused or flown to somewhere in the interior of the United States. No more bad optics at Del Rio. Problem solved--or at least the optics problem was solved.

Yes, indeed. And he was tracking a young (12-year-old?) Haitian girl who had been living in (I think) Peru before her family decided to trek northward. I don't think she was actually born in South America, but she must have been very small when her family fled, probably back in 2010.

One thing I have noticed in the photos from Del Rio: This isn't like most migrations, where the young men make the trek and the women and children stay home for the remittances. These people are already displaced persons, and have been for ten years. I cannot fathom why Biden thinks any of them have "homes" in Haiti. But out of sight, out of mind. That's the theory, anyway.

The optics are bad. And when the optics are bad, Team Biden (occasionally) can bestir itself to act. Or to try to correct the optics at least.

Example Four: Biden says things which get him into trouble at press conferences. Have a list of pre-approved questions and answers and cut off Biden's microphone if he strays from the allowed remarks.

Example Five: People note no one seems to be in charge of the border. Appoint Harris "in charge" and have her travel to Central America to look for "root causes".

Example Six: Maxine Waters gives a sermon about Border Patrol Agents "whipping" people trying to enter the border illegally. Have Biden's first question after the Covid briefing be about those agents so he can say they will be punished.

Example Seven: Cutting off oil pipelines from Canada and stopping fracking on federal lands drives gas prices up. Let everyone know Joe called OPEC to beg for more oil.

Example Eight: Gross increases in government spending worry people that inflation will skyrocket. Tell people you had a meeting with Chuck and Nancy and have already agreed to "pay for" any and all future spending by taxing only the "billionaires and trillionaires".

Taxing the trillionaires. Heh, that was a good one!

Haiti made its decision to live apart from whites two centuries ago. I think we should respect their decision and hold them to it. The last thing this country needs is more blacks.

Since those Haitians aren't likely to be native-born white middle-class taxpayers any time soon, then I venture to say they have no notion of what it's like to be treated like chattel by the Resident of the United States.

Either seal the border or send the illegal aliens to Europe. Perhaps it would be better to send them to Europe to counterbalance their Islamic illegals.

As for the ones dispersed around the country, the states should bus them to DC and it's suburbs.

BUMBLE BEE said...

Some time ago a $1,000,000 cost per person for illegals' welfare, housing, Medicare, ESL schooling and such. It was also asserted that it took three generations for illegals to be considered in the plus column, producing more than they take.
This does not include the social costs of their criminal element's actions. Investigation, arrest, prosecution, incarceration and maintenance costs are never mentioned. Hey Jackass published The cost of Cook County's charges, (not including rehab), for emergency room costs, per shooting to be $60,000. Passing infectious diseases costs not included. How else could that money be used for our citizens?

I am not sure Democrats are "getting away" with it. Look at Biden's favorability, which will be taken out on Democrats in a year. At best they are hoping to hold out until they have tanked up their "Emerging Democratic Majority" as they call it, so that they don't have to compromise anymore in order to win elections.

But some of the people on our southern border are also Muslim. There are people from 80-some countries there. Strange that they all want to get in and experience our never-to-be-topped vicious xenophobia, but there you are.
