"If there is a message, it is to look at the leadership of Mexico here: This is possible, it is happening. When you have adverse conditions, like in Texas, you need to double down on your efforts."

Said Giselle Carino, head of the International Planned Parenthood Federation’s Western Hemisphere region, quoted in "Mexico’s Supreme Court Votes to Decriminalize Abortion/The ruling, which sets a precedent for the legalization of abortion nationwide, follows years of efforts by a growing women’s movement in Mexico" (NYT).
In its ruling, the Supreme Court had considered a challenge to the law in the northern state of Coahuila, which had set prison penalties of up to three years for having an abortion. The justices struck down the state law, finding broadly that any criminal penalization of abortion violated Mexico’s Constitution.

Good. Maybe Mexicans will stay there, instead of invading such a terrible, racist Country like ours.

I'm so old I remember when the leftie prescription was to be more like Sweden. Sweden doesn't fit the covid narrative with their no mask wearing and their keeping things open so Sweden is dead to lefties.

Mexico has the world's second largest Catholic population, second to Brazil..

Radical Muslims have to be the fastest growing religious population in Mexico right about now, dunnit?

Texas saw adverse conditions, and doubled down on its efforts, too. Just from the other point of view. Wonder if there’ll ever be a middle ground met on this issue.

Serious Question:
With All the terrible laws (abortion, and others), terrible people, and terrible culture;
Why ARE all these people from around the world busting their asses to come here?
Don't they REALIZE, how Terrible the USA is?

It appears the overturned Mexican law penalized obtaining an abortion.

US laws are aimed at providers, defined most broadly in the Texas law, if I understand correctly.

Didn’t Stephanopolos try to trip Trump up with that distinction in an interview years ago to much media fanfare?

As in the US, this was done by litigation and not popular opinion. It will be interesting to see if the Mexican elites are as invested in preserving this new constitutional doctrine as those in the US are.

Abortions are legal in Texas. What’s the fuss?

I remember before RvW, Mexico was where you went to get an abortion.

Law and reality are two very different things south of the Rio Grand. And reality has been dominant over law there for at least the past 60 years. What do the cartels say about the constitutionality of abortion laws? What mordida covers the cost of an abortion?

Make all the lawyer jokes you want. But imagine dedicating your life to killing fucking babies.

Mexico is the new Sweden.

As long as they do it Aztec-style, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. All cultures are equal, ammirite?

Since abortion is fundamentally about eugenics and discredited ideas of population control, abortion supporters here in the US are rejoicing that there will be fewer brown babies born south of the Rio Grande.

It was Chris "Tingles" Matthews with Trump.

Believing you have to now legalize something that your culture deemed worth making illegal because some gringos north of the border (where it's still legal) decided to make it harder to do deserves to be shit on.

I suspect it's mostly just another elite anti-Christian demonstration of power.

However, punishing the mostly poor women seeking abortion is NOT part of the pro-life movement, and I don't think it ever has been since Roe v Wade in '72 (in USA).

Today, all women with unwanted pregnancies should have the baby and give the baby up for adoption - there are plenty of couples looking to adopt. Even Americans looking to adopt Mexican babies (not so many for older children, maybe not even "enough").

Howard: "Yeah, a shit on Mexicans post."

Howard is very very angry Texas is making it more difficult to butcher babies in the womb.

No further comment is necessary.

Maybe there will now be less Mexicans to invade America? Silver lining of a murder cloud?
