He (my Michigan legal acquaintance) always been something of a legal gambler. He's not even much of a Republican; he was a max-donor to the current (Democrat) Attorney General, who was a movant in the "Kraken" sanctions motion.

I believe the UK has mainly used the AstraZeneca vaccine, if not entirely. I don't think you can apply those results to the US since it is not used here.

I live most of the time in Forsyth County, GA, about 40 miles north of Atlanta. I am 70 years old and my wife and I received our two doses of Pfizer in Jan/Feb. Since the Delta variant surge started I have been checking all the state, county, and locall results daily. I also check the workload status on all the emergency rooms, which have been very busy. Most of the hospitals in this area, and extending through all the hospital systems north of here to the NC state line, are now breaking out their stats by vaccinated/unvaccinated. Across the board, for Covid patient admissions, ICU admissions, and ventilator usage, 90-95% of the patient counts are UNVACCINATED. In all of GA Public Health Region 2, which covers all these counties, exactly 3 vaccinated patients have died as of this morning. So far, these vaccines - Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J - are performing as expected, keeping vaccinated people out of the hospital and reducing the chance of death. The average age of patients at these hospitals is around 60. Other areas may have different experience but that is what we are seeing here.; 8/25/21, 9:56 PM

According to papers filed in federal court, GreenTech and its sister corporations, including Rodham's Gulf Coast Funds Management — GreenTech’s “cash-for-visas” outlet—bailed from their financial obligations.

GreenTech’s bankruptcy petition recounts that the company “received investments aggregating $141.5 million from a total of approximately 283 investors,” nearly all of whom were Chinese nationals lured by the promise of permanent residency through the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Regional Center Program.

But nobody seems to know where all that money has gone, and McAuliffe and his former partners have never adequately explained its disappearance. GreenTech never spent much on employee salaries or manufacturing, let alone research and development and the company employed seventy-five people for show with no work to do, and never finished building a fully-operational manufacturing plant, and never sold a single MyCar electric vehicle.

A crony "steal-from the government venture" such as GreenTech is not an outlier. For years, taxpayers have subsidized failed businesses that rely on political connections to transfer wealth to their principals, who then walk away without consequences while leaving others to pick up the pieces. It is time to get the government and the American taxpayer out of the business of picking economic winners and losers.

A harsh judgment but the sorting process bears you out. Maybe using politics as a professional wellspring drains it of too much of its essential meaning -- too long a time acting a role for the cameras has rendered players like some of those names voids.
