"Kind of like Subaru. I don’t want to say it’s a cult, but Subaru people love Subarus. There’s this base of loyal customers who say, 'Wow, we’re really into this, this is our thing.' And that’s what Crocs has become."

From "Love them or hate them, Crocs are back/Sales have surged during the pandemic and the brand’s signature foam clog is turning up everywhere. 'I would wear them to the Met Gala'" (WaPo).

It's a cult. I mean.....how do they all end up with an "EQUALITY" bumper sticker?....BERNIE stickers?

I've accepted used Subarus. Gratis!! They have all ended up going to charity on the back of a tow truck, and I actually think that is part of the cult gratification.

I love Subaru's and I now own my fourth, which my mother gave me when she died, a couple of years after I talked her into buying one for herself (she wanted a new car because the tin-can Dodge Stratus she was driving did not offer much protection for my great nieces who rode in the back seat). The first three Subarus I had were station wagons, two were manual transmission, two were AWD. I probably won't wear Crocs but I must confess that I wear Skecher "Go-Walk" shoes almost everywhere, unless it is snowing or raining heavily. These are basically slippers but they can pass for normal shoes LOL.

I do not understand the dumping on Subarus particularly. They are good
SUVs, rather better built than most, with room for several kids in them.
That's why my friends who have Subarus by and large chose them.

I have a couple pair of Crocs, but I'm nuts about them. OTOH, Skechers
were basically all I wore before discovering Jambu a bit over a year
ago. The Skecher outlet store in Vacaville was always a stop for us
whenever we ventured back to CA.
