No, it's not. I agree that it's kitschy. The sunrise is what it is. I do one thing with what iPhone gives me: I turn down the light (the slider marked "Light"). The iPhone is set to lighten everything, I believe, on the (correct) theory that the main thing people are photographing is faces, often in indoor lighting, and they mostly want their subjects to look good. Hence the light is blown out. I turn it back down.
