"That these crimes are perpetrated by Palestinian sympathizers is unfortunate only to those wishing to hide the facts that the Palestinians are not anti-Zionist, they are anti-Semites. The Times Orwellian crusade to support Palestinians through multiple Guest Opinions that deny facts in evidence such as claiming Democrats are still pro-Israel or that Hamas is not a problem, has reached its nadir by suggesting the 'problem' with attacks on Jews is that it weakens the progressive narrative. You should seriously be ashamed of yourselves."
That's the second-highest rated comment on the NYT column by Michelle Goldberg, "Attacks on Jews Over Israel Are a Gift to the Right."

I am Jewish. And I am somewhere out there on the right side, mostly Libertarian, but getting more and more far right conservative on some things. I've seen the decline of Western Civilization through the policies of the Left which are repeated endlessly through the megaphone of the entire media and academia, and now- our Government. And I saw the creep of growing anti-Semitism worm itself into Leftist talk years ago. I saw it when the anti-Semitic Muslims found a way to join up with the Black community and then the White Left communities to find a common bond: Hate and destroy the Jews.
And I've been wondering how long my Jewish friends and relatives would continue to mindlessly pull the lever for Democratic candidates, or ignore the evidence of their senses and make excuses for people attacking Israel and/or Jews. "It's their own fault. They should not be attacking the Palestinians so heavily. They should just leave." Or "They should not be allowed to have a presence on the student government boards at UCLA or USC or Berkeley." That actually happened- and is happening, I'm sure, at other universities as I write this.
And growing up, watching and reading books and movies on the Holocaust, the one thing that always fumbled around my brain was how the Jews saw what was coming, but stayed put, disbelieving it would happen to them, and kept disbelieving right up to the point when the doors to the cattle cars were slammed closed. I wondered just how stupid these people- *my people*- were. Or, was it something other than plain stupidity? Was it so horrible that it was impossible to conceive of happening, even as it was?
Today we have no excuse. When someone says they want to exterminate the Jews, I take them at their word and respond accordingly. Michelle Goldberg is a classic example of today's Useful Idiot. It's not a new phenomenon. The only thing new about it is that today we have more stupid people with advanced degrees than ever. And they hold more positions in media, tech, academia, and government- than ever. And so we move from a Trump Administration where we had Iran in a hole, backsliding and generating internal strife, Hamas was quiet, the Abraham Accords were the next phase to corner and cut off Iran, and Jews were not attacked on the streets here in the US (while they have been in Malmo, Paris, Brussels, and other European cities for years now). We had, in Trump, a President who would not have put up with any of this nonsense. And the Muslim world knew it. And so we had relative quiet.
And now the Progressives are in charge and the Muslim world didn't wait long to blow up again. And now the Progressive Jews will go along with their own slaughter. So the destruction and attempts to erase Israel, and the Jewish people continues, but this time, with the loud and clear approval of Democrats, the New York Times and other US media, our academic class, and of course, our TV media- which continue to tell of the plight of the Palestinians who need only to focus on their own lives and stop lobbing rockets at their neighbors to find peace.
Michelle Goldberg is not a Jew. She is a disaster. Her religion is Progressivism. Which is to say, an inexact mix of Marxism, Statism, New Ageism, Hope, Hate, and Unicorns. It's ever changing, always moving, but one thing is consistent about those who practice it: They hate Israel's existence, and with it, Jewish existence.
So, to the Michelle Goldbergs of the world I would say only this: This time, there are millions of us who will not go along and not go walking into cattle cars. We will not join arm in arm with a hideous ancient religion that threatens people with beheading (how do you even begin to make excuses for that?). Hamas doesn't want peace. They want an end to Jews. As GW Bush once stated: you're either with us, or you're against us. Michelle Goldberg has chosen who she is with. Let her live with it.
