The fact that multiple witnesses lied under oath and acted specifically to destroy a nominated candidate for supreme court justice, with no ill effects when the knowledge of their lies and slander came to light, is disgusting.

Those folks should be spending 10 years behind bars. Their names and deeds trumpeted.

I told my in laws last night that republicans just colossally fail to point out principle failures in government nowadays. For example, there are many attacks towards christian organizations. Why aren't Republicans on talk shows saying "I don't know why Democrats won't allow muslim businesses, mosques and schools to teach and practice their beliefs as they see fit. They seem to be focused on taking away freedoms from practicing muslims and other faiths. "

Republicans - and hell liberals - were once the groups who decried principled liberty as paramount.

The FBI showed over the Trump years, that it is nothing but a corrupt political operation. They've lost all respect once held by the majority of Americans. And Chris Wray? He's the complete flack. They will never regain any respect from the public while so called leaders like him are in charge.

The entire DOJ needs a house cleaning.
Along with the State Dept., National Security Apparatus, and leaders of our military.

Imagine getting a demand letter from the FBI and ignoring it for two years. Do you think the only thing that would happen is that you'd get another request letter two years later? Jeez. They'd have a 4am assault team at your door flanked by CNN cameras and breathless reporters. Such is the script of our noted FBI these days.

To echo pretty much everyone else here, I don't imagine anything significant will come of this at all.

We've seen time and time again now how powerful Democrats can essentially do whatever they want without real consequences. They can lie under oath. They can completely fabricate stories. They can sexually harass all the women they want. They can kill the elderly. If a decades old picture of them in blackface is brought to light (something that would completely end a Republican's career), no big deal... they just need to wait it out a bit and they'll be fine. They can enrich themselves with Ukrianian and Chinese communist money and still be anointed President. They can run sham charity organizations that funnel billions into their coffers.

It's certainly a sad state of affairs to live in such a deeply corrupt society with no rule of law for this special, elite class of people, a new nobility. But I suppose it's nothing new.

Maybe, but I think you can make the argument that 'corrupt' and 'politically corrupt' are different things.

It just seems that only the 'right' is investigated and prosecuted, and only the left gets every benefit of the doubt.

The worst part is the inability to police themselves.

During the Trump era, I kept thinking that the FBI and DOJ, while clearly filled with corruption, would nevertheless expose and penalize the most egregious abuses of power. I kept waiting, as did many, for the right person to head up the investigations. People like Sessions, Barr, Durham, and Huber, for example. I was never a Q follower, but I admit I did buy into some of the "trust the plan" narrative. Even Sean Hannity would tweet out a "tick tock" once in awhile as if the indictments were just around the corner. Trump himself would tweet out "The Storm is Coming" with a GOT meme, as if exposing the rottenness was only a matter of time. And all of those investigations just evaporated. Nothing came of them. Not even Strzok and Page suffered any real penalties.

So I am completely cynical about the FBI and the DOJ when it comes to their responsibility for investigating corruption, perjury, etc. They cannot be trusted. Grassley's letter is fine, but it has no real significance. No one is going to jail. No one is going to pay any price. It's all bullshit. It's a depressing realization, to conclude that your own government institutions are irreperably compromised, and deserve zero respect.

If they arrested people for lying in Capitol building, they would have to start with the politicians.

Of course it is all political bias at the FBI and DoJ- had these people been testifying against a Democrat nominee to the court, the trial would have already been held and the people would have been sitting in prison for at least the past year. Part of the problem is that the jurisdiction would have been D.C. where you can't convict a Democrat of a crime without a confession video of them doing the crime, and even in those cases the DoJ might not move forward for the same biased reasons. I have often, in the past, advocated that crimes committed in D.C. be tried in a federal court in Kansas- it is the only way to get a fair trial for anyone.

No. He was gunned down in the street.

Unknown assailants gun down the young DNC data analyst at 4 A.M. on a Washington, D.C., street and take nothing. Two weeks later, international man of mystery Julian Assange strongly suggests on Dutch TV that Rich was his source for the purloined DNC emails then roiling the Democratic Party and offers a $20,000 reward to find the killer.

Then again, Wikipedia also believes that the DNC was "hacked" in some complex manner, as opposed to the more likely inside job or password scam.

Two different audits found FBI 702 lookups were found to be illegal +80% of the time.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is in charge of the FISA court, and Roberts has done zero.

The corruption is so massive its impossible to exaggerate how corrupt the entire DoJ is. Yes that includes all the grunts that do the work, all the administrative assistants, all paper pushers, and the janitorial staff. ALL corrupt.

On August 2, 2018, a federal judge in Manhattan dismissed the suits brought both by the Riches and by Wheeler. Judge George Daniels was particularly cool to Wheeler, ruling that he failed to prove he had been misquoted and "had also given his tacit consent to the article's publication." Aaron Rich has sued Butowsky as well. Fed up with the harassment, Butowsky fired back with his own suit in March 2019.

oops - that does not fit the narrative.

Crank up the cynicism!
Maybe those institutions are operating exactly as intended.
They're all getting paid. They're all exercising power. Writing letters, ignoring letters, making deals, taking other peoples' money, going to the bank, weaseling contracts for your brother in law's nephew so he'll really owe you big time.
You know... Governing.

Nothing will change, because nothing has changed. Well, I'm not a diversitist. I'll give people the benefit of the doubt, individually, and collectively on principle. Trust but verify.

Inga, I don't know very much about the Seth Rich killing, but (1) it can't have been a "burglary," b/c the guy was found a long way from his house; and (2) whoever did it is presumably still out there, and I don't see you on the Left exactly clamoring for the killer to be found. Why not? Is the "cold case file" occasionally useful?
