When the ice broke up it made a lot of noise as the sections moved around and collided with others, and, if there was any significant wind, they piled up on the shore. I also recall minor prizes awarded by a radio station for the sighting of the last remaining evidence of winter, which would typically be a chunk of ice in a parking lot off N. Sherman Avenue. In mid-May. The residual of a huge pile of snow that had been dumped there during plowing operations.

In my parents day, they recalled wagering pools at local bars on lakes in Wisconsin which would be for the correct estimate of when a junk vehicle would fall through the ice in the spring. I'm doubting they removed the fuel tank, engine block and radiator before letting it take the plunge.; 3/21/21, 10:59 AM

I haven't seen comment on this but it repudiates the entire basis of the present Democratic policy toward China. And it repudiates the entire basis of policy toward China since the Nineties. It vindicates Trump's policy which was based on the understanding that China has a "China First" policy and we should negotiate based on that understanding. Since nothing has been said about this startling development, I assume the Democrats have no policy to put in place of "drawing China into a rules-based order through concessions." But I expect the US Autonomous Region led by Hunter's father will continue to make the concessions.
