It's basically child abuse for parents to be dispatching their children unaccompanied to present themselves at the border. It's even worse than dragging them along with you when you try to evade customs and immigration. We need to look after these children, but our objective should be to reunite them with their parents or family as soon as possible, and blacklist anyone involved in sending them unaccompanied from ever immigrating to the US. If they're from a visa waiver country, they should be excluded from the visa waiver, and be required to apply for a visa. If lawful US residents on immigrant visas were involved, we should review their visa status and consider revoking.
It would be better to do as Trump did and cooperate with our neighbours to slow and block illegal immigration coming north, but those agreements took time and effort to coordinate and now that they've been ripped up, it seems unlikely that the Biden administration is going to have the will to try and reinstate them.
I see we are continuing with the charades that (a) Biden actually has any authority and (b) the administration does anything in good faith.
I think we are well beyond any of this mattering. The best case scenarios for the future are looking very dim.

I honestly don't see an end-game here for the Biden Administration. I know there may be some long-term ethnic fantasy among some Democrats of letting in all this Latino illegal immigrants, giving them citizenship, and then turning Texas Democratic in the process. It could happen, given enough time.
But, for that to happen means enough of the Democrats present ethnic coalition has to survive intact. Public Relations disasters such as is now unfolding on the border is making the survival of the Democratic coalition increasingly unlikely. Some of the biggest complainers right now are Democratic Congressmen from the Texas border areas, all of them Tex-Mex Americans. And American blacks? An American black in favor of an open southern border is like a turkey rooting for Thanksgiving.

Or high school age "children" who in most cultures would be working full time, and are coming to America to find a job?
