Lovely.

Windy today, had a minor repair to make to a skylight window that was not properly secured.

Work continues and is changed, maybe changed utterly. The pressure to produce is less. Our executives are speaking more about employee wellbeing, mental health, diversity, and, of late, all the marvelous women we have the pleasure and honor to working beside. I've been here a long time, in a sales role, and this is unusual and weird. Will keep plugging along. I like what I do and appreciate the willingness to pay me, somewhat handsomely, to do it. Eighteen months and counting until I'm done - don't tell anyone, could spoil it.

Spending the winter in Florida, I had forgotten what high winds and freezing temps felt like. But late this afternoon the sun was out, the wind had died down, and even though the temp was in the forties, it felt like spring, and I was happy I came here now. I always loved walking on spring evenings, even when it was cold, but somehow there was spring in the air, even though I couldn’t tell you how.

The ice went out the day I got here, probably from the high winds, and I took a nice picture of a tree that was coated in icicles from the wind whipped waves hitting the shore.

Btw, McAllen Texas reports 40%+ of all passengers on commercial flights out of McAllen are illegal aliens flying out of Texas at taxpayer expense.

Remember those Michigan guys the FBI set up and arrested for plotting to kidnap the Gov? The legal premise is starting to unravel. DoJ has overcharged, for raw media propaganda value.

Jackson County Judge Michael Klaeren of the 12th District Court dismissed the terrorism charge against Joseph Morrison, 42, and Pete Musico, 36, while declining state prosecutors’ request to add it to the charges already facing Paul Bellar, 21.
“There has to be some form of intent here to incite mayhem,” Klaeren said during Monday’s preliminary proceeding.

Now, I'm not a conspiracy theorist about the Fluhan and I generally accept that it's the likely cause of the 400,000-500,000 excess deaths in the USA last year.

HOWEVER,
What I am not understanding is that:
3/4 of old people have at least one shot.
Case counts are down by ~80%
But "deaths" are down by only 2/3.

And if you drill down into the numbers, deaths in olds are down 90% from peak to just Feb. 27th. (over 60)
Deaths in other age groups are down dramatically too. But were low to begin with.

How are deaths only down by 2/3?

I am more suspicious of the recent numbers (since Jan) than I was in 2020.

Happy to hear alternative hypothesis, but it seems that increasing numbers of deaths are being miscategorized now.

stephen cooper said...

DavidUW - how much time do you have to listen to the explanation of someone who sees through the lies?

Would you prefer a quick fifty word explanation which will not convince anybody, or should I give you a thousand or two thousand words that nobody could argue with, but which almost nobody will read because they are AFRAID of seeing themselves as the abject cowards they have been for the last year or so, as the people who condemned hundreds of thousands to lonely deaths and who supported the oppression of hundreds of millions for the sake of a few elderly cowards?

It does not matter to me which you prefer.

The real moral issue is that almost all Americans (and almost everyone in every other country), last year, were fine with letting their parents and their aunts and uncles die, while on their deathbeds all they saw was some creepy nurse dressed in an awful, face-obscuring mask, a mask that obscured the abject and cowardly fear of the nurse who wanted to live and WHO WAS GASLIGHTED by foul creatures into doing the exceedingly foul deed of watching someone who was in their care die without even looking them in the eye.

stephen cooper said...

Harrisbiden is saying it* has nothing to do with the proposed vaccine passport. This is false. The pass depends on access to 50 different state immunization registries by a single procedure from a single app. In other words, a lot of different state data bases in different formats are somehow linked and available. That's Federal Freddie at work, mining Big Data with Tech Lord help. And without asking whether it's OK if your medical data is made available for commercial purposes. As far as I know everyone has agreed that their medical data can be used for research but no one has ever agreed to make that data and the site housing that data available online to a commercial restaurant-access internet app.

For my entire life, I couldn't go a day without a morning shower. Now that I'm retired, I think that it was mostly psychological. A daily swim in a salt water pool does me just as well, and I only shower if I need to shave . . .

You can still use bath salts in the shower and enjoy some of the benefits they provide in a saltwater pool without the large expense and maintenance hassle that goes with swimming pools.

To do this, you simply create a shower scrub:

Use 1 cup of sea salt or Epsom salt, 1/3 cup of almond oil, olive oil, or coconut oil, and 1 tablespoon of vitamin E oil. Mix the ingredients in a bowl, creating a thick paste. Apply some of the scrub to your body using your hands and an applicator for your back. Then rinse.

This shower scrub is really good to fight off eczema itch. But in the end, a shower with soap every now and again is useful to do in the often obnoxious smell of Floridian sweat.

As a concept, I’m torn with vaccine passports. On the one hand, getting vaccinated should open greater freedoms. That’s the point. On the other hand, what happened to, “we’re all in this together”?

The decider for me is this: I don’t trust the government to not misuse them. Consider that the window from when they are introduced to when we reach herd immunity will be a couple months more or less. Why do we need a new bureaucracy and requirement for that? The lockdowns themselves are instructive. Introduced as “2 weeks to flatten the curve,” a year later everyone still has restriction, some of us still in something approximating lockdown.

Health passports, like the lockdowns, may require a crisis to introduce, but, once introduced, they will require a lot less to maintain.

Thanks for the side effect info re Pfizer. I had first shot last week and am a little nervous about the second... I read that the good news of any side effect is that the first shot worked to prime the immune response from the second. Sound right?

Also I have not read that the virus is part of the second shot.... I believe it’s still mRNA to produce the S-protein, the same protein which makes up the COVID spike. This is what our immune systems are being trained to attack via the vaccine. Just regurgitating what I’ve learned... I’m no expert by any stretch.

Any chance you'd had covid already? I've heard speculation that the second shot in a Pfizer vaccination after having had covid is like a "third shot" and accounts for some of the heavy reactions. I was tested for covid twice, and once for whether I'd had it. (Every time I got the sniffles people around me sent me in for tests.) Anyhow, pretty sure I never had covid and I know I had no trouble with the second Pfizer shot. Just a speculation and sorry to hear you had a bad time. "Any chance you'd had covid already? I've heard speculation that the second shot in a Pfizer vaccination after having had covid is like a "third shot" and accounts for some of the heavy reactions"

Interesting. I had Covid, confirmed by test and antibodies. Wouldn't call my reaction to the second shot heavy, but there definitely was a reaction.

My daughter (half and half) in NYC was attacked, punched, but she kinda expected it because the guy was acting strange, and had boxing lessons so she was not injured because she moved her body away so it only hit her shoulder. If she had not moved, it would have been worse. The person just kept on walking. She mentioned a shelter had opened near her and she guessed the person had mental issues. She was more in shock it happened. She can pass for either White or Asian, so she does not think it was racial.

Iowan2: So you get an antibody test when you donate blood? That would be useful information. Do they get permission to use your serum if you have positive antibodies? Just curious.

Yes. The agency here in Iowa is "LifeServe". They run an antibody test on each donations and the results are posted to your personal account, they also run a titer level, but don't share that number, but if its low, the plasma wont work. They asked if I would give convalescent plasma, to treat those hospitalized. I said of course and was set up for once a week for four weeks, but after two weeks they stopped because there was no demand anymore. Hospitalizations are almost non-existent.
