Just before that tweet, there was this:To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 8, 2021
And last night, this zombiesque performance:The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 8, 2021
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 8, 2021AND: Here's the transcript for that zombiesque performance. I saw some people calling this his "concession," but I listened and heard no concession:
We have just been through an intense election and emotions are high, but now tempers must be cooled and calm restored. We must get on with the business of America. My campaign vigorously pursued every legal avenue to contest the election results. My only goal was to ensure the integrity of the vote.... Now Congress has certified the results. A new administration will be inaugurated on January 20th. My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power. This moment calls for healing and reconciliation.... We must revitalize the sacred bonds of love and loyalty that bind us together as one national family....
He's saying the process for challenging the result has concluded and he will not challenge it anymore. It's not that Biden really won, but that the process is really over. What exactly is "concession"? It's not a technical term. Nothing depends on it. It's a nicety. We want a particular locution... but why? Is it like saying "uncle"?
From the Wikipedia article "Concession (politics)":
In modern U.S. elections (presidential or otherwise), a concession is usually a two-step process: first, the losing candidate makes a concession phone call to the winning candidate and congratulates them personally. Second, the losing candidate makes a televised public speech, known as a concession speech, to their supporters, on an (improvised) podium surrounded by the candidate for the vice presidency, their spouses or other important relatives and friends. The concession speech consists of four elements:
1. The statement of defeat: an admission that the candidate has lost the election to their opponent, who is congratulated on their victory.
2. The call to unite: an expression of support for the victor's upcoming term in office, and a call for unity under their leadership, necessary after an often divisive and polarizing election campaign.
3. The celebration of democracy: a reflection on why democracy and the participation of millions of voters in the electoral process is important, and that their choice should be respected.
4. The vow to continue the fight: a reminder of the importance of the issues the candidate has raised during the campaign, and the policies their party advocates for. The candidate says that these remain important goals to strive toward, promises to continue fighting for them, and urges their supporters to do the same...
Trump's speech does not have the most important element: The congratulation of the opponent! He never mentions Biden. He does not concede that Biden won, only that the process was conclusive.
Elements 2 and 4 are there, but the 3rd element is reversed. He doesn't say that people voted and he must bow to the people's choice. He's keeping alive the belief that the result that has been certified is not what the qualified voters actually voted for. In his rhetoric, democracy does not prevail. The idea that supersedes democracy is order — smooth, seamless orderliness.
BUT: Element 2 is incomplete. He wants the people to unite, but just in general. He doesn't say unite behind our new leader!

poor judgement and a lack of style.
At this point, I don't see how he could. It would be the ritual 2 minutes of hate and gloating from the incoming crowd. It might not be seemly to skip it, but as it stands, it would be even less so to attend. Paul Wellstone's Funeral on steroids.
Trump has conceded that the Democrats have the power to force him from office. He has not conceded the election.
Mass-pardon time.
At this point I don't believe that Trump attending the inauguration would be any kind of pathway to reconciliation. If he actually attended he would probably be a distraction that wouldn't mollify either his supporters of his detractors, just inflame them. I think Trump needs to be out of the headlines for several months. I doubt that will happen since the left and the media need Trump to be in our thoughts for every and always,
After the last 4 years of harassment by the corrupt left and the corrupt press - I do not blame him.
Trump should give his ticket to Animal Skin Guy.
I don't remember if the outgoing president gets to speak.
But if he did, it would be awesome : )
Any republicans who show up had better not be interested in getting reelected.
Democrats made skipping inaugurations a precedent.
I think republicans should continue the tradition.
No justice, no peace.

Joe Biden is a corrupt pile of shit. He is not my president.

The democrats could have given us a better choice. Instead they installed their same-old corruption.
I don't blame Trump. You can't say Biden's election was legitimate and then give it your tacit blessing by attending the inauguration and pretending a coup d'etat hasn't occurred. Although I personally would go just to cough out "Bullshit!"--Delta House style-- every time Dementia Joe says something.

What was "zombiesque" about Trump's speech last night? Don't get it.
Somebody must have told him that if he keeps it up he'll end up in a rubber room.
I will not attend either, and never have even watched any. If there are comic youtube clips I'll watch them. Pie in the face or something else good.
I don't get your "zombiesque" remark.
The President was measured, calm, and reassuring, more so than at any other time in his administration. No hand waving, no threats.
He had the mien of a man who understands what is going on, and what he, and the rest of us, must do about it.
I hope he will share it with us starting Jan 22. I'm definitely willing to listen, and very likely to act.
I see Twitter has decided to let Trump tweet again. When he was calling on protesters to leave the Capitol, they hid his message and blocked his account claiming he was fomenting violence for suggesting the election was stolen. Also Twitter, millions of tweet from blue checkmarks stating evidence exists that Russian stole the 2016 election.
He’s not the first President to skip the inauguration of his successor and he won’t be the last. If you really want four years of “calm,” Althouse, you might want to start by dropping the Trump hate. There’s no point in his acting the way you think is “appropriate” if the Democrats are not going to demonstrate the “calm” and “moderation” you pretend to desire.
Nobody wants a racist at their inauguration.
I believe Twitter was requiring Trump to delete a Tweet(s) in order to have his account restored, similar to what the tried to do with the NY Post. Did Trump agree and delete any of his Tweets, or was that condition not enforced?
Calm = feeling, Trump = structure. Opposites.
If ya gonna ask, I won't be watching either. Sure hope Biden remembers where he is.
He ain't my President.
In "That's Different Because Shut Up" news, Instapundit has a link to when Mafia Princess Pelosi was calling for "uprisings" against Trump.

That video is an unremarkable example of a president's quotidian delivering of a prepared speech.
"Zombiesque?" It appears that you have confused this video with any one of Joe Biden painfully staggering through his telepromptered speeches over the last few months.
I think Trump should fly home on his own plane hold a MAGA rally during the Inauguration. He can announce it on Parler that it will be aired live on Rumble. The test will be how many watch Trump on this new media vs slow and boring Biden? And will the old media resist the temptation to say more about Trump's rally? Let's not forget, Inauguration Day is being set up to be a lot like Times Square on New Year's Day because of the Chinese flu.
Good, he would cast a pall on the entire thing.
Isn't anyone worried about the norms??
Biden has made plenty of racist remarks, so I don’t think that “no one wants a racist” thing will play out... just saying.
"Inauguration Day is being set up to be a lot like Times Square on New Year's Day..."
DeBlasio will be there, dancing with his wife?

I mean, it's not like they wanted him there anyway.

Not attending the inauguration is the kindest thing Trump could do for Biden. Trump's supporters won't be there now, and Biden's supporters can focus their energy on their guy.

Exactly. And what about all the other ways the last 5 years has revealed to people that our civil society and its institutions, including the media and social media platforms, and norms are merely window dressing on a system driven by the raw exercise of power. It's all been a bit upsetting to those insufficiently cynical folks paying attention, but it has been clarifying.
Trump has conceded that the Democrats have the power to force him from office. He has not conceded the election.
Right, Jupiter. The swamp has won this round.
"Where the fuck you been the last four years champ?"
Thank you for recognizing that I am, indeed, a champ.
The most partisan group of prosecutors in American history, equipped with the God-like powers of a federal grand jury, and with an unlimited budget conducted an investigation akin to a legal colonoscopy, and did not indict him for so much as jaywalking.
Fuck off.
Washington is no place for a gentleman, and hasn't been for some time. Apparently it can also chew up a much rougher character like Trump. This is why I agree with those folks predicting that the next character to rise above the fray and take his turn at this game is going to make Trump look gentlemanly by comparison, and it won't just be the typical media elevating a prior Republican to put down the newest Hitleresque Replubican pretender. It might actually be true, for once.
@Donald
P.S. If that was sarcasm I obviously missed it.
If you were serious, then again, fuck off : )

'If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor.'
I have asserted all along that if Trump has some epic thundering evidence that will unravel the entire Democrat coup, it would actively be wise to *not* release it prematurely, to get all of the coup plotters to reveal themselves. I was getting quite frustrated once Cotton revealed himself, thinking, there can't possibly be anyone else... but given Pence, I was wrong. Whatever comes next, getting Pence to expose himself was also certainly critical.
And it very strongly seems to me that the Democrats, in their current rush to not even wait 13 days to get him out, in their current insane rush to get him out NOW, IMPEACH!, I think it's obvious that *they* think he very well might have a nuclear bomb of evidence of criminality in his hand to still play, and are trying to get him out before he can play it.
Note, also, that Nancy Pelosi's email account was just sitting, right there, unlocked, on her computer during the riot. If there were any military on Trump's side seeded in the Capitol protests... if the entire point was to go in and capture some information from Congressional computers... yeah.
It's hard to keep up hope in the face of the complete infiltration of every institution, but there are signs this may not be over yet. To take down a conspiracy this vast, full transparency of who is in on the coup is the only way it could work, and that hasn't been achieved until now (After Pence, I seriously don't know who else *could* still be exposed, beyond the 6 or 7 Senators who objected).
As to how Trump could get the word out of whatever it is he has to everyone despite the social media and MSM lockdowns... remember a couple years ago, that Presidential Emergency Broadcast that went to literally every single cell phone in the country? Yeah.
Not a surprise, and I don't think it is a terrible thing, either. Biden won't be able to attend Harris's inauguration last Spring/early Summer 2021.
Utah Man With a History of Organizing Violent Antifa, BLM Protests, Was Inside the Capitol
I'm sure he was the only Antifa leftist there.
Order in chaos.
If Trump had some epic thundering evidence, he should have released it long ago.
And he should have had a real plan in place for the post-election "election."
Instead, the plan was:
1. win in 2016!
2. ???
3. win in 2020!
4. release all the stuff!
"If Trump had some epic thundering evidence, he should have released it long ago."
While it is frustrating and the level of patience required here is maddening, ultimately I have to disagree. The only way a coup this vast could be brought down would be to incriminate everyone involved simultaneously, otherwise those not exposed would just run cover for each other. And more have been exposed in the last 48 hours then I think even the most paranoid among us could have expected.
I don't get your "zombiesque" remark.
#metoo, but she doesn't like Trump, who could never out-zombie Joe "Walking Dead" Biden.
Somewhat off topic, but I'm trying to think ahead. I think the Republicans are likely to lose ground in the 2020 elections. Why? Because so many incumbents have hopped in their carriages and fled the battle ground. No one will have confidence in them. So we are looking at a long grind. The only bright spot is that the Democrats will overreach and make mistakes, but that depends on there being enough resistance to keep them from succeeding. And I am not sure there is. The pleasures afforded tyrants are many.
Lower-case chuck @11:20, is there time to form a third party? Heaven knows, we need one.
"Zombiesque"? Seriously. All the zombies with whom I'm on familiar terms don't act like that.
As Althouse says; there's nothing that says Trump has to be there. It will however ruin the Democrats day if he doesn't tug his forelock, with eyes downcast, and make his obeisance to Biden. It's amazing how the Party of Youth and fresh ideas has slowly morphed in to a gang of petty Regency country squires.
One bright spot on the horizon: With Trump out of office, perhaps upper-case Chuck will see no use for this blog and just disappear. At least we could hope.
Readering wrote: Tweet starts with lie. He got 74 million votes, not 75.
That's the point, we don't know how many votes he got, any no one in a position to check is willing to look into it for us voters.
What was "zombiesque" about Trump's speech last night?
Absolutely nothing. We're just not used to seeing him reading prepared remarks. It's a good thing Ivanka was able to talk him out of winging it.
And it was most certainly a concession speech. The standard "The people have spoken, dammit" approach doesn't work when you've been contesting the results (rightly or not) for two months.
State-cultists calling other people "zombiesque:" priceless.
is there time to form a third party
I have no idea. The current conflict is between rural and urban, and federalism and the electoral college doesn't help there. Once the cities are corrupted, and they all are, the states where they are located are lost. How to gain power over the cities is the problem.

Unfortunately, you dream. The time for that has come and gone. After the hysteria and Trump eradication bandwagon that we are currently witnessing, Trump couldn't get anyone to execute his Presidential order to take out the trash. *No one* in government will now carry out any major order Trump gives, either by flat refusal or by heel-dragging. That goes in spades for any declassify order.
It's kinda like when a thief steals your car and then asks if you want to go for a ride.
AA has watched enough video of Trump to know when it appears the soul has left the body. I would have gone with proof-of-life hostage video. Hard to believe it's the capo on the Georgia phone call tape.
I think my President Trump is doing the correct thing by not going to Biden's event. I've never forgotten how terrible people were to President George W. Bush at President Obama's inauguration by chanting "Hey, hey, good-bye." President Trump is wise to skip this classless event.
It was stupid of him to keep his followers hopes up for so long. It should not have been close enough for Democrat cheating to be decisive. No more pandering to POCs please.
As always, our betters tell us that we must support the appearances, and ignore any facts that do not support the 'narrative'. Ignore the creature behind the curtains. Shut up, obey, bow to the pomp and circumstance.
What if we have found out that the appearances are a total sham? What if we have discovered that the elected officials consider us subjects to be ruled and not citizens to be governed? What if we have discovered that our elections are not open and honest? Just shut up and obey? Get on the train quietly?
Swamp today, swamp tomorrow, swamp forever...
"Unfortunately, you dream. The time for that has come and gone."
A valid reason for why the delay would be so necessary has been given.

Excepting, possibly, by select members of the US military. That is the one remaining institution that hasn't completely discredited itself yet. We'll see.
Stop it. You're as bad as some of the worst commenters.
Stop being intentionally obtuse.
You've gone round the bend, all that sounds like a moderate to poor drama novel.
Notice the law and order President said nothing about the police officer killed by one of his supporters, or the city injured. And I wonder who he thinks those zip locks were intended for—the Governor of Michigan I suppose.
And third parties never work at anything except undermining the party they are most similar to or formed from.
police officer killed by one of his supporters
The police department debunked that.
Trump should make his post presidency about election reform.
Many many Americans believe the election was stolen and the current system makes it impossible to prove otherwise in the short interval between the vote and the certification. That's a big problem. And it's a solvable problem if there is a will to solve it.
It's a big problem if Trump can say, "I won. Prove me wrong" and no one can do it.
Likewise, if Trump had won, Wednesday's Capitol incursion would be as nothing compared to the riots that would be going on in every major city. Dems would be saying Biden won and no one could prove them wrong either.
A sincere, very public, bi-partisan effort for election reform, is one path for the nation to come back from the brink. Maybe the only path. It could also be a constructive path for former President Trump.

That could also be a tool to promote national unity. It will be interesting to see what Uniter in Chief Biden does with that.
AA, why are you surprised and piling on also? "...Trump's speech does not have the most important element: The congratulation of the opponent! He never mentions Biden. He does not concede that Biden won, only that the process was conclusive..." After the 4 years and constant attacking of Trump and his Family, I would say if he did what you mentioned above, he would be a leader for all time. But, I know, AA - sits behind her computer and pontificates about 'Theories' and pixie dust fictional 'Events'. In real life what we have witnessed these past several years was interesting but has put the entire 'Elite Establishment' on notice. There where so many norms broken because of this TDS Circus. I doubt anyone came out of this with their creditability in tact. It will be an interesting 4 years of the Biden/Harris Administration. Biden ostensibly mouthed propoganda about uniting the country. But, like the pedestrian political crook he has been for 40 + years, attacks 75 million voters. Have at it President-Elect Biden. You better get everything you want done in 2 years cause people will go to the polls in 2022 and will be out for revenge.
it is unfortunate, Shakespearean in outcome, that Trump's ego overcame common sense. He was, in the end, tragic, the architect of his own ruin. And any hope of a vestige of heroism is lost on his unwillingness to attend the inauguration of Biden.
"AA has watched enough video of Trump to know when it appears the soul has left the body."

Look, we know it will be exhausting for you to fire up your last set of working neurons, but just try to answer the question SPECIFICALLY.
What crimes did Trump commit, and what statutes did he violate?
It is rather comical that some people here seem to think that due to recent events, evidence of the election fraud is somehow discredited. Not even slightly. No one, not a soul, who recognized the fraud has been convinced by recent events that the election was legitimate, and the gaslighting you're doing now is no more effective than the gaslighting of the last two months. We all know you are thieves, and you are every bit as much pariahs to tens of millions of us as you are obviously trying to make us to the public.
I am personally cutting off every last possible business transaction I have with anyone who denies the steal. Anyone who denies it has proven they cannot be trusted on any level.

It would be way smarter to take over the Republican party by primarying the RINO squishes. A new party would just split the center-right vote and make the Dems unbeatable.
Vice-president Burr shot and killed Hamilton.
Not handing over the WH keys in person seems polite in comparison.
I agree with those urging mass declassification. And pardon Assange and Snowden.
Lets all venerate the Capitol Building, but recognize that now it is "a wretched hive of scum and villainy."
"So many people miss the obvious. Trump believes he won. He sincerely believes it. "
So does 40% of registered voters, and I believe that poll is as skewed toward the Left's advantage as all the others have been for years.
None of them will consider Biden legitimate. All will resist in their own ways.
I know you guys think you're going to be having lots of fun after the 20th. You think there will continue to be no consequences for your countless crimes.
I think you are highly mistaken, and when your reckoning comes... well, millions of us will look on with the kind of epic satisfaction that none will ever forget.
"It would be way smarter to take over the Republican party by primarying the RINO squishes. A new party would just split the center-right vote and make the Dems unbeatable."
RINO squishes have been getting elected over actual conservatives since at least 1992, using the same voter fraud we just experienced. Those elections are every bit as corrupt as the general elections. Maybe more so, since the Left often doesn't care whether the Democrat or the Republican wins, when they know both of them are swamp creatures.
Trump does not believe he won. He knows he lost.
“...police officer killed by one of his supporters.”
“The police department debunked that.”
No they didn’t debunk that. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
Biden didn't win. Our voting franchise was wiped out. Trump knows this, so do his supporters, and the people that are celebrating the outcome of the fraud like Althouse and the rest of Madison, WI. America's first soon to be installed ruler Joe Biden (or whoever makes decisions for him) knows it too.
Funny how Althouse is once again interested in "law" when it comes to the cancellation of someone's book contract, but not the election integrity or voting rights of her fellow Wisconsinites. Then its "law, what law? I'm just here to pretend to be cruelly neutral".
Achilles says Trump is like French Revolutionary and Revolutionary victim George Danton. This guy compares him to Tiberius Gracchus. Compelling little piece.
Trump should not dignify Biden's installation and fake inauguration with his presence. It would be and insult to his supporters who were robbed of their voting franchise. I hope he skips the whole dog and pony show of greeting Biden and his face doctor wife at the front door of the White House.
Pence will henceforth be known as Brutus.

He knows it Ken. So do all of us.
"It would be way smarter to take over the Republican party by primarying the RINO squishes. A new party would just split the center-right vote and make the Dems unbeatable."
I believe this is unfortunately correct. But it is also unfortunate that to win anything in the short term, some R politicians that are only a 'little' squishy will need to be left in place.
It is exactly what the radical socialists and Marxists within the Democrat party have already done. They've hollowed out the party from within, appropriately akin to cancer.
By doing so they've kept all of the fundraising, ground game, infrastructure, etc. in place.
Kind of the like the neutron bomb of politics.
I mean, does anyone really think that this is the same Democrat party of the '60s, '70s, and '80s?
It sure as hell isn't the party my parents belonged to, nor is it the party I once joined 40-ish years ago.
"Pence will henceforth be known as Brutus."
I don't even think Pence's wife had any great faith in him.
He is the ultimate Ken-doll, old-school 'My esteemed colleague across the aisle' kind of guy.
Generic and forgettable.
Libtards treated Dubya and Cheney like garbage at Black Jesus's inauguration and they did not even run against Obama. There was no way Trump was going to do that.
Hey, we all knew Trump was going to blow it off. The real question is will Biden?
Please provide link that shows the police officer wasn’t killed in line of duty trying to protect congress from the Trump rioters, and why would th FBI openin investigation into this? Just more law and order BS from Trump and his supporters.
Whose speech will Biden plagiarize? I would do the JFK "ask not", that was a big hit. Ten I would have Harris blow some one important.
It's a Stacey Abrams "this is not a concession" concession.
Qwinn finds comedy in the quotidian.
Curious George, please pay close attention and report back.
I wouldn't want Trump to attend the inauguration of Biden. Trump has been an authentic person, whether you like him or not. Many people found him offensive, I found him entertaining. More importantly, Trump got a lot of things done which our traditional politicians promised to do and never did, and never will do.
What happened in certain swing states with the insane level of election cheating is inexcusable and I wouldn't want Trump to dignify that by acting as if Biden won fairly.
Biden will be the next president, Trump admitted it, and I accept it fully as well. Our system is allowing it. You don't have to like the President. You don't even have to vote.
I'm eagerly awaiting the political pundits to dissect the election and explain Biden's masterful strategy for victory. How did Biden manage to barely campaign, to lose Ohio, Florida, the bellwether counties, win less counties than any other president, but somehow managed to win?
What would be an estimated crowd size for a Biden inauguration? Pre election rallies did not draw very large crowds. If Trump showed up his supporters might be a larger number.
So... we're about to inaugurate a new president and vice president- a man who is a sexual predator and borderline pedophile, along with a woman who sucked cock to further her political ambitions. And at last, we'll finally be rid of that vile man who wrote mean tweets.
A proud day for all Americans, don't you think?

I had the fortune/mis-fortune if coming if age in the Carter years. With the gas lines, the "turn down your thermostat", and his ridiculous fireside sweater chats.
I also had the grand fortune of casting my first ever Presidential vote for R. Reagan. He was not a perfect President but he was the best in my life time and he set a high bar for those that followed him.
This isn't my Republican party either, any more so there is that. We all have been let down by those the believe they are our "betters". Not sure of we are not too far down the road at this point, to make our way back. Quite sad.
He lost in an electoral landslide (his words). He lost by 8 million votes. But he lacks mental equipment to process that even though he realized in advance that pandemic voting rules would make it easier for the Democrats to get out the vote. (Republicans also.) So he started claiming fraud well in advance. And his shouts of fraud sank in with enough people that December 6 was the result.
Don't understand folks saying it's not their Republican Party when majority of House members voted to sustain objection after the rioting--in the middle of the night.

Maybe Trump should schedule a 'Trump 2024' rally a few miles away and we'd find out : )

They'll use the COVID excuse for the smaller crowd size, and for many it's probably true. Most COVID bedwetters are lefties.
Joe (and his POS wife) are going to want their day in the sun, that's for sure. Once that's over, back to blowing bubbles where ever they decide to hide him in the WH.

Who expected Trump to attend his successor's inauguration, whoever it might have been? Trump has been a perpetually sore winner throughout his term; of course everyone knew he would be a sore loser!
What's more of moment is that we all are losers: we see one asshole leave office, only to be succeeded by another asshole. So it has been, going back years, and so, it seems inevitable, it will be for years stretching into the future.
maybe he won’t attend because there won’t be one ;-)

"...He lost in an electoral landslide (his words). He lost by 8 million votes..."?
Brains are not in your head? You seem to not know, willingly pushing propoganda, the difference between "...electoral..." and "...popular..." votes?
Readering, there is a big difference between getting out the vote and manufacturing the vote. The allegations re mail-in ballot abuse, sprinkled with debunking powder but not otherwise actually refuted or debunked, are that various changes to election procedures would make it very difficult to secure the election. Lots of people pointed out that these mechanisms would be abused to allow for fraudulent ballots to enter the system alongside legitimate votes--this has historically been a bipartisan perspective, common sense. Trump and many others pointed out that the facilitation of fraud on a wide scale was the reason behind these changes. AG Barr said the Dems were playing with fire.
If you continue to act like the big event in election 2020 was the Dems had a superior get out the vote machine, better "ground game," you're not disputing what the other side is saying, just ignoring it. Common sense: in a high stakes game wherein the rules allow for cheating, and the timeframe allows for the implementation of cheating on a massive and organized scale, would you expect people to cheat? If you don't expect that outcome, you don't understand people. If you do expect that outcome, then you understand what tens of millions of people are upset about. It's not that complicated.
+1 to Rosalyn at 1:30p.
I’d like to see the masterful strategy that explains how Biden did less than Hillary yet won more votes than anyone ever, except didn’t have coattails.
Interesting, this is not a first! Andrew Johnson refused to attend U.S. Grant's inauguration in 1869.
I did not know that!
Robert Cook, one asshole, the guy leaving office, brought troops home, attempted with some limited success to de-escalate various conflicts and avoided involving us in any new military adventures. The other asshole, well, what do you think he's going to do based on the long and "hawkish" track record Biden has doing the bidding of the military industrial complex (when he's not busy doing the bidding of the credit card companies)?
Also both Adams presidents.
Voter fraud is complicated. Has to be conducted by huge force. No evidence of such a thing. But Trump has poisoned the minds of millions who knew next to nothing about how elections are conducted.
Hstad, you write that in the comments to a post on a Trump tweet proclaiming 75 million votes (falsely)?
Leland, Biden's masterful strategy was to make the election about Trump, sorta like the 2016 election became an election about Clinton, but even more effective.
I think animal skin guy is kind of hot. Nice body and tats.
"Yet, Republicans control a majority of the State Houses and Governorships after the 2020 elections?"
You're making the argument for the existence of voter fraud during federal elections.
As day turns to night, the same leftists criticizing Trump for skipping the inauguration would be the very same leftists criticizing him if he did attend.
So, in brief: Fuck off.
Trump should not dignify these ridiculous proceedings with his presence, or that of his wife and kids. Hands washed.
Biden says that's one thing he agrees with Trump about.
That is, Biden said he doesn't want Trump at the inauguration either.
Or that Biden won't show up at the inauguration himself.
Biden swallows a lot of his words, so it's not always clear what he said.
*
I do wish for less polarization in politics, but I don't think we'll see that with Biden.
Also don't think anybody took the Lincoln Project seriously. If you hated Trump, you already hated Trump. If you were tired of him or disillusioned, you didn't need obnoxious grifters to tell you that.
And Trump, enough with the Pence thing. Kiss and make up already. Pence was ready to go as far as you could rationally have expected him to.
Maybe the White House staff should pry all of the 'Ws' from the keyboards.
Don't bother, Joe wouldn't even know they were missing.
I have not seem much besides happiness and relief about his absence January 20. Bush and Pence will do fine observing as representative Republicans. It will probably be embarrassing how warmly they will be received.

Trump should make his post presidency about election reform.
I agree. Only he can bring the national focus necessary to force change against a Dem and Press machine that is thrilled at how well the new system let them manipulate results and will desperately try to keep available. The closer-to-grass-roots Republican legislatures are to a large extent already there.
The question is, if the election process is not corrected, do the R's set up election stealing capabilities to match what the D's have built. Personally I don't think the Rs can ever meet the Ds in this match-up. It would be a working example of Ds are evil and Rs are stupid.
Oh, and also work raising money and preparing behind the scenes for taking Nasty Nancy out of power.
Oh, and setting up/promoting an alternative press and social networking platforms.
The Ds, Press and NTs are again misunderstanding the impact of the John Roberts Riot on the Trump base. Illegitimate Joe will remind the base every day.
We're having to develop new traditions for the peaceful transfer power when the incoming administration has stolen the election. This seems like a good start...
"He's saying the process for challenging the result has concluded and he will not challenge it anymore."
That's one interpretation. Another is there are still 5 cases pending in the Supreme Court and 3 states are still looking into the results.
The talk now is about impeachment or Pence invoking the 25th Amendment. But the other way out would be for Trump to invoke the 25th Amendment himself.
Under Section 3, Trump can make a written declaration that he unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office and Pence becomes Acting President. That could be as simple as:
"I'm going golfing for two weeks and will be unable to discharge the powers and duties of the Presidency."
Isn't that now his best way out?
Senator Murkowski wants Trump's immediate resignation.
So we're up to about 60 votes, roughly, for a Senate impeachment conviction. If McConnell turned, and brought Thune/Barasso/Burr/Grassley/Young/Blunt (senior Senate Conference leadership) with him, that's it.
Conviction, and a bar to any further federal office-holding.
He took 4 years of the best you hermaphrodites threw at him and in the end you had to cheat big time to beat him. He walks out a proud man. with 75 million votes. You squids get pervy Joe and the ho.
"Isn't that now his best way out?"
If I were Joe, that's what I'd do.
They're afraid Trump could show up with a few hundred thousand of his closest friends.
"So we're up to about 60 votes, roughly, for a Senate impeachment conviction. If McConnell turned, and brought Thune/Barasso/Burr/Grassley/Young/Blunt (senior Senate Conference leadership) with him, that's it."
Any R who voted for impeachment would either have to be retirement age, essentially a democrat already (Romney, Collins), or else never want to win elected office again.
Interesting, this is not a first! Andrew Johnson refused to attend U.S. Grant's inauguration in 1869.
Nor was he the only one. Neither John Adams nor his son John Quincy Adam’s attended their successors’ inaugurations (Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson, respectively). In both cases the outgoing President not only was a political rival of the incoming President, but the men were bitter personal enemies. Strangely, when I went to verify John Quincy Adams I discovered that Martin Van Buren also blew off his successor’s inauguration.
I'd like to let video like this marinate with members of Congress, House and Senate, for a weekend, and then see what happens on Monday.
https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1347629727692050433
I expect that impeachment is a real possibility, and particularly if there is a choice to pursue a Trump impeachment and conviction, even after Biden is sworn in. It would be about the precedent of doing something when a President foments insurrection, and also to bar future federal office.

Anyone pursuing such vindictive partisanship is forgetting about the millions of Americans who recently voted for Trump and would likely vote for him again. Schumer and Pelosi can pursue it, but they will not put together a second witch hunt.

You know what? I think that whoever the shooting officer was, what he might have done is to shoot through the glass and shoot the stick out of the guy's hand. I saw the Lone Ranger do that. It made a kind of ricochet sound, when he shot a pistol out of a bad guy's hand. That would fix 'em.
There is something really strange about the Capitol police letting things get out of hand like they did at the US capitol.
Foreign terrorists must be watching and thinking ... hhhmmmm - how easy was that?
I also wonder - (and no - I do not know - I am wondering) did Antifa show up as Trump supporters and do this?
I'd guess most Trump supporters are peaceful. Markowski even said so.
here:
Murkowski said that while “there may have been many, many, many, many good Americans who came to Washington, D.C., because they felt strongly in support of this president,”
Trump incited them to storm the Capitol after a speech near the Washington Monument.
Note the quotes are removed from the part where the media are saying Murkowski said
'Trump incited them to storm the Capitol after a speech near the Washington Monument.'
odd.

I suspect they're only doing it to placate their base. They'll slow walk it up until the 20th, then it won't matter. That might lead to more riots, which should be interesting because those riots will be led by the on-air staff of CNN.
"And if we are both right, it will be proof that Donald Trump broke the Republican Party for a generation."
It's already broken...has been since Reagan.
You and your fellow libs can't seem to grasp that most conservatives are not in love with the R party. We hold our noses because it's better than Marxist, baby-killing Dems.
Cruze and Hawley should have no trouble getting votes, unless the Dems keep packing conservative states.
I don't want to charge the police officers - or make broad statemetns of blame - but it is odd that there is evidence that barricades were removed - by cops.
Really - why would the Capitol Police let the Capitol be breached?
"You cannot possibly be serous about charging the police officers!"
He shot and killed an unarmed woman.
Probably should have just shot her in the leg.
Joe would have approved (even more than he does now).
The woman who was shot and killed - was she armed?
There is video of the protesters orderly filing into an unlocked door and calmly past multiple police officers who just stand there watching.
Now, the morons bashing in the windows inside? Idiots. Should all be arrested.
But shooting an unarmed woman at close range is a bit too much.
Was the policeman related to Barney Fife?
"Pervy Joe and the Ho." Sounds like a great name for a punk rock band.
Biden says-
and the talking points go out..
RACISM! or something...
I'm not condemning the capitol police - I'm just asking questions. Perhaps the capitol building is just too big with too many doors and access.
There is at least one guy who is a known Antifa thug - who got in.
He has a history of arrests.
from the link:
The riot was not an impromptu act, Sullivan said.
“As far as them storming the Capitol, I knew that was going to happen,” he said. “I’m on chats that are underground that are sending out flyers that are just like, ‘Storm all Capitols on the 6th.’ It wasn’t anything that was secret. It was something that was out there ... and they did it.”
So an admitted Antfia guy - admits there was underground chatter about breaking in to the Capitol?
and more...
"In the wake of widespread condemnation, including from some lawmakers who support Trump and had planned to object to the electoral votes, there were assertions that those who stormed the Capitol, fought with police and injured officers, ransacked offices, and damaged public property, were actually members of groups like antifa or Black Lives Matter. In fact, Sullivan’s picture was circulating on social media as “evidence” that the rioters were not Trump supporters."
"Sullivan said that while he is not a Trump supporter..."
Not a Trump Supporter - eh?
Later, I'll be looking forward to the perp walk, the sentencing, the shackles, the orange jump suit, the sentencing. That will be around this time in 2022. Maybe spring '22.

Whether or not the breaching of the Capitol was planned or spontaneous; that demonstration had been in the works for a while and had been publicized for well over a month. They knew it was coming. There was no reason for the Capitol Police to be that outnumbered. I'm trying to stay away from conspiracies and such, but it almost seems like Muriel Bowser stood the DCPD down in hopes that it would get out of hand and something would happen.
Trump now permanently banned from Twitter. At least, that's what the news says. I suspect the tech moguls have gone too far. It's a lot harder to justify a permanent ban than a temporary one.
Back in 1984, Walter Cronkite did some kind of TV special about George Orwell's novel 1984 coming true and got flak from the right for ignoring communist dictatorships and just talking about corporate censorship. Now the Soviet Union is gone and corporate censorship has grown to truly massive dimensions. Remaining communist governments like China and their censorship and propaganda dovetail very closely with corporate censorship in the US. Uncle Wally may have been right in spite of himself.
I don't think we need a third party as some have suggested here.
I think what we need is a Fusion Company.
This would be a for-profit corporation to escape the restrictions on not-for-profit. It's business would be providing electoral and political information on a value for value basis. If you think it provides value, send $10.if you think it provides a lot of value, send $1,000.
It would identify politicians of both parties worth supporting and support the bejabbers out of them. It would mock and disparage others relentlessly.
Ditto tech companies and advertisers on abc/nbc/cbs/fox et al suggesting we should not support them.
Ideally it should operate at a very slight profit to avoid irs problems.
If is helpful, it could even identify as a "press" organization and raise 1A protection claims.
In other words an organization that functions like a political party with none of the restrictions.
Like it or not, we will never have a viable 3rd party in the US. This would take its place by organizing a coalition of demmies and repos into a bloc more beholden to the people than the party.
John Henry
As an aid to raising money, the Fusion Company could sell knighthoods, baronies, dukedoms and such.
$1m for a knighthood, $3m for a baronet, $5m for a dukedoms and so on.

I see it confirmed by numerous outlets. I have no doubt but that it is true. And I am personally disappointed. I liked seeing Trump's warped, pathological thinking exposed on Twitter. As regularly as possible.
Still, no one need wonder why Twitter would take the action. As Trump was bleating about doing away with "Section 230" of the Communications Decency Act, this result is exactly what he would have gotten. Large corporate web platforms, terrified of third-party liability. Twitter doesn't want to get sued by anyone who gets hurt by Trump's online rantings.

I've got no problem with Georgia. We've got 2 more senators who are against good Americans and are honest and open about.

What's not to like?
PDJT is the best president of my lifetime. Maybe of all time.
I'm the guy who supported Obama twice fully expecting he would be as awful. Worse is better, as I've said here many times. My hope was that Obama would be awful enough for Americans to rise up, say "enough" and vote for someone like djt. I didn't think it would be djt. He was not on my radar. I thought perhaps a Paul.
It worked out even better than I had dared dream.

As Trump was bleating about doing away with "Section 230" of the Communications Decency Act
I understand McConnell's bill for the $2m per person reforms (apparently in a good way) section 230.
So now dems can vote against the 2m but for 230 pissing the voters off twice in one vote while placating big donors.
Or please the voters with $2m and piss off the donors.

Ya think (and I'm not giving you a hard time over this)?
I have been reading this blog for years. I do not understand why MAGA people gravitate to it. I have yet to read 1 person show any humility for Trump losing the election. Instead of accepting the results, they say it was rigged. How about analyzing why Trump lost?
"How about analyzing why Trump lost?"
People have been talking about it constantly. I'm sure a bright girl like you would have noticed.
Right?
Blogs don't just or only attract people who agree with them. The most passionate commenters pick a blog they can disagree with. Amconmag commenters often aren't "American Conservatives" and Kausfiles commenters appear, from what I've seen, to disagree with everything he says. Many of the people commenting on articles in the Washington Post or The Nation take provocatively right-wing positions.
Some forums, though, are so clearly demarcated left or right that anyone who takes a different view is quickly driven out, but if you are a successful independent blogger, you can probably expect that over half your commenters will disagree with you. Or maybe, to put it another way, if a blogger isn't narrowly and passionately partisan enough to drive dissidents away, people with a variety of opinions not in line with the blog will gravitate to it.
Mock boils the current troubles down to its essence: "Chuck will see no use for this blog and just disappear." Ha!
Robert Cook @ 1:58- Yeah, you see it, Robert. Disappointed that you're a Communist though.
Bumblebee: "He took 4 years of the best you hermaphrodites threw at him."
To be fair, Trump, at his inauguration, excoriated the former Presidents who led us into the mess that Trump tried to fix. Trump was right, those former Presidents deserved the wrath, but... Fair is fair. I think Trump should bear the heat. Humility is a difficult lesson to learn, but a man is stronger if he learns that lesson.
I want Donald J to attend the inauguration. Let us show up at the Inauguration in the millions to support him.
Rosalyn C (1:30 pm) is spot on in saying she "wouldn't want Trump to attend the inauguration of Biden. Trump has been an authentic person, whether you like him or not…… Trump got a lot of things done which our traditional politicians promised to do and never did, and never will do.” She goes on to imply that DJT has good reason to question the legitimacy of the election results; I agree. The more the Democrats and their reliable propagandists in the media railed against inquiries into voting irregularities, the guiltier they appeared.
I think the leftists might just be in the process of doing two related and spectacularly stupid things: (1) Further stirring up the Trump supporters to an even HIGHER level of animosity; and (2) nudging and elevating Trump ever closer to martyrdom. In the process, of course, as some (old Joe included) say things about “uniting” Americans, the word “hypocrite’ shines brightly in neon red letters on their foreheads.
We known that DJT thrives on attention (of ANY kind), loves conflict, relishes being in eveyones’ psyche. Democrats would be wise to let him go on his way. But they won’t. TDS is apparently a permanent disability. and untreatable
Trump is at a point of weakness that he has never experienced, but...he is not done yet.
Go to whitehouse.gov and say this: Stay strong Donald J.
He needs to hear that right about now.
Biden spent the whole campaign calling Trump and his supporters Nazis. Why go? Droopy "Unity" Joe's speechwriters have turned up the rhetoric temperature a lot the last couple of days. Social Media and Mainstream Media are censoring First Amendment rights. Why go to the coronation of the leftist nation after that?
Trying to picture going to my Dr and pointing to my TDS and asking for treatment.
To Readering: About your physician and treatment of DTS, there is a standard of care for this. It begins with diagnosis, but you have already identified you're stricken so we can assume you are infected and afflicted. Next, the evaluating doctor should probe for causation. You should be asked to list your sources for political and public policy communication, with estimates about your degree of exposure to each. This will lead to the subtype of TDS, of which there are many (DLemonentia, Upchuck Toddy, Maddow Madness, Cuomo Comatosity, WaPo Poops, and in the most severe cases they tend to be overlapping and symbiotic). Depending on the extent and duration of the infection, you may bedesignated as “ALC”, which means "abject lost cause”. Good Luck.
