Orange man good?

Completely unretouched photo, straight out of my iPhone:

IMG_2278
Did Trump forget to pack up all his makeup?

There's something about orange. As I was searching my archive to figure out if my tag is "orange" or "orangeness," I ran across this post from the first year of my blog, from September 2004:
So John Kerry seems to have gotten one of those dark spray-on tans.... 'All the big Hollywood celebrities, especially the female celebrities, are getting an orange tan.'... Whenever presidential debate season comes around, the one thing you can count on pundits to talk about is the 1960 debate when Kennedy looked tanned and rested and Nixon looked pasty white. ... Why don't Kerry's people remember how Al Gore was ridiculed for looking way too orange in the first debate in 2000?... 'Gore looked positively repellent with his... garish orange makeup....'"

They all do orange. Orange is the happy vibrant color of love and warmth. It always was and it always will be, except for that little time when it wasn't — the time when it was Orange Man Bad in the Oval Office.

ADDED: "I don’t want an orange look. Has anyone noticed that?"

We all know that, at some point, there will be a national unmasking of Joe Biden. He'll be giving a speech, or an interview with some trained seal 'journalist' and in mid-sentence Joe will forget what he was talking about. He'll look confused. He'll try to regain his thought-path, but he'll stumble onto a different path instead and say some not approved words. It'll come out as stream of consciousness with bad words included. It will be more embarrassing than enlightening, and everyone will be there to see it. Some will smile knowingly. Some will pretend it did not happen (like during his campaign). Some will say it's Trump's fault. And some will say "that's just Joe being Joe". What a guy!

We all know it's coming. It's just a matter of time. When will it happen? The first 6 months of his tenure? Will he make it through the first year?

We've seen glimpses of it during the campaign, but let's face it- No one watched Joe Biden's campaign. They will see his national speech. Or his one-on-one interview with someone from CNN trying to look very serious.

He may say "oranges" once. Other times it's "orages" or even "origins."

And indeed what he's talking about was vraiment un orage.

I wonder if a lot of Trump haters were actually forever watching him in extreme, wrinkles and all close-up like this.

It's not pretty. Nor would it be pretty to look at anybody in such a close shot all the time.

Biden's hair comes off as pink. You may need to adjust your set's color and tint (if it's still possible to do that nowadays).

The strange mixture of orange against blue or lilac or whatever the dominant color on screen is, gives Biden's face an uncanny 3-D quality (or maybe your TV already is 3-D).

But before you do anything, wait for somebody who isn't color-blind to give you some feedback.

The color balance is way off, the wall and shirt are blue/purple; compare them with the grey of the table the monitor is on.

To be fair, I would like to note that "Orange Man Bad!" was the mockery of the left's seemingly reactionary negative attitude to Trump. And while the left definitely did make fun of Trump for the "Orange Skin" It wasn't their primary criticism.

Fact check: Joe Biden misspoke about his campaign's voter protection efforts.

I was going to say the same thing-

I've seen pics of Biden without any make-up recently and he looks like he died 10 years ago.

A good summary of the dynamic of the prog representation of reality.

What's what is what they say it is.

One of the twists here is the possibility that Biden will be made to look and seem odd or inept as part of the strategy to move him out and Kamala Harris in. That tight way look with the squinty eyes, it doesn't matter what color he presents in, he looks unusual. Maybe he's had a face lift.

I wonder what it would be like, to be the guy that nobody actually wanted, they just didn't want the alternative. To be used as a tool to get someone else pushed aside, just to be pushed aside yourself, I wonder if he sees that coming. I'd be more for him if I thought he did and was fighting to hold his position but it seems like he remains a tool.

I kinda think the "Salute the Marines" moment was pretty big, but I guess that's why it is being ignored.

If he'd say the impeachment's ridiculous and Trump had a lot of successes, he'd inherit a huge popular base.

Well they did say that Ronald Reagan's hair was "prematurely orange".

But I attribute Shufflin' Joe's look here to the fact that Trump did not clean out the medicine cabinet in the Presidential master bedroom suite--and Joe was allowed to go in there unsupervised to rummage around. He came out orange--sort of like a five year old kid playing with Mommie's makeup.

As for the over/under as to when Biden makes a spectacular failure on national TV--I'm looking for the SOTU address in January 2022. He can't duck that appointment and his mental condition will have deteriorated for another year.

Gore wore orange to match his macho “earth tones” prescribed by Naomi Wolf. Unfortunately, it didn’t hide his lisp or mincing.

It seems like there is no way to get out of a live speech in front of a national audience.

Then, I'm reminded we're talking democrats. People that have been paying a lot of people for many months to come up with a viable scenario to do exactly that if need be.

I remember one year at the Oscars ceremony they had Frank Capra give a brief speech. Evidently Frank was a bit past it at that point, so while he stood at the podium and moved his lips, his recorded voice gave the speech. The tip-off was that his lip-synch was quite imperfect. I'm sure that Hollywood can do better with today's technology.

I realize this orange discussion is interesting to some, but what I want to hear about is the riots by the Deplorables that took place at the capital buildings of all 50 states on inauguration day. Will no media outlet cover the carnage?

Kind of reminds me of the old Coppertone QT suntan lotion. You had to be super thorough and rub it over every nook and cranny or you would wind up with streaks across your arms and legs. Was it some iodine tincture that was used?

My understanding is that Kennedy and Nixon looked the way(s) they did at that debate was that a young Mike Wallace was the producer and he made it happen - slways showed JFK in soft focus from the middle distance and Nixon close up and sharply focused. Had it been shot the other way, Nixon would have been President eight years earlier. Media types have been snakes for a long time.

Almost every man who goes on tv regularly has a few instances where he looks like someone slapped funeral home make-up on him. Comey and Boehner often looked orange. The other day Ben Domenech was looking Trump orange, complete with the skipped eye area.

Makeup will also oxidize while being worn and often will not look like the same color after a couple of hours as it did when it was first applied. Drugstore brands often do look orange after a bit.

The flip is that Trump did not always look orange. Most of the time I thought he looked pink. We know he was on medication for rosacea; I sometimes wondered if the times he looked overly-orange were from trying to cover that up.

When George W was elected President, Progressives sprung to action. Does anyone remember International A.N.S.W.E.R.? Every week. Protests. Evil George W. How dare a Republican get elected? Anyone remember Newt's 'Republican Revolution' in 1994? News media proclaimed that Americans had a 'temper tantrum'. 4 solid years of accomplishments, until establishment Repubs finally kicked them out, so they could waddle up to the trough.

And then there was Donald Trump. Common sense economic policies. Phenomenally successful.
Democrats and Republicans were aghast! He's giving the game away.

Angst and strife whenever a Republican is elected. Women prefer their sick News Media to be boring. Better to elect a Democrat, so the News Media tamps down the angst & strife.

Have you heard? Jill Biden is bringing fashion back to the White House. Women like hearing that.

Every man is a soldier, but no man should serve in the US Military until women repeal the 19th Amendment.

Seek the peace of the collective. It's the color of silk. Peaceful. Boring. Gather in your circle and share your story. Think of the wonderful world we could have if men would just shut up, get in the f'n circle, and listen to women's stories. How hard is this?

We're doing that to boys in Public School. If you escaped that, why won't you just listen?

Dunno, but Eisenhower thought he had a helluva case and strongly advised him to demand an in-depth forensic investigation and a recount--mainly centered on Daley's Chicagoland machine. And to answer those lefties who argue that the "Downstate" counties vote was likewise 'stolen' by the GOP I would add that one of my HS Civics student teachers from E.Illinois Univ was finishing his pol. sci M.A. on Illinois County government at the time in which he argued that "county government" was skeletal at best and consisted mainly in keeping drainage ditches cleared and black-toppng farm roads, so the idea of an all-powerfull mostly GOP county offsetting the mainly Donkey cities in their midst was laughable..
