"We're seeing the foundation for the Antichrist, if not the thing itself- slouching."

There's no Antichrist - there's no God or gods - but, it's weird, because you all believe so fervently - fanatically - there might as well be. What do "heathens" (not atheists, but people who are mad at God) do at night? Around 4AM, after everybody else goes home, the people with the piercings, split tongues, horns in their heads, etc. act out their fantasy - which isn't all fantasy since they're bankers and bank tellers, people from all walks of life - mingling together in a druggy way that accentuates race (black on top) but makes class disappear.

People act on their beliefs. It's about time we got our beliefs in line WITH reality.

There is no God.

Yes, Sarah Hoyt is incredibly obnoxious. Is that really the reason? I don't comment there but I think she has reduced the quality of the commenters.

Who is Sarah Hoyt? Why does she post the late night material at Instapundit? Why her I mean.

Hoyt is a right wing blister who was added to Instapundit when PJM was sold. Her job is to send traffic to other pages they own.

In the words of SNL Weekend Update, Ken B- you ignorant slut.

Sarah Hoyt is a well established well known (among fen) science fiction writer. Also has some romances under her belt. She is also a Portuguese immigrant and naturalized citizen. She grew up as Communists attempted a Portuguese takeover and is quite familiar with their tactics. There are several places you can peruse her political writing if you care to search for them. You could start at her very own website. This is my guest post on her blog. Actually, I think Crack Emcee might find my post interesting.

Is she conservative? Very. Believes in our Constitution, would hate to see it trashed by Democrats. As she says- if the U.S. goes down- there is no other escape valve on the planet. We're the last resort. We're where everyone flees to. Where can we go? American immigrants who came here to be Americans- not transplanted Somalians or whatevers, tend to be more American than many native born Americans- because they've seen what it's like elsewhere. My sons and I had a very enjoyable evening talking with her and Daniel Hoyt in Denver a few years back.

Instapundit was referring to her and her blog writing long before she became a PJM regular. He's a science fiction fan.

Yup. PJM was taken over and several posters were added. A huge fraction of their links go to sites owned by the same company, as you will notice soon enough if you click. Ed Driscoll is another, and CharlesvMartin who thankfully posts less often now. They are click baiters who misrepresent constantly. But Hoyt is the worst of them.

A few posters add value, Shibley, Hariot, Bernstein. But Hoyt stinks the place up nightly, usually with day old stories.

That she was known is how she got the gig but she’s still clicks for hire to the parent ship, and an oozing pile of scum on the blog.

I wish novelists wouldn't make partisan political points in their books when it's not otherwise germane to the plot. I finished Michael Connelly's recent book, "The Law of Innocence" (in his Lincoln Lawyer series) over the weekend and was relieved as I read that he wasn't doing that until I got near the end and I guess he couldn't resist, he went anti-Trump and, more specifically, anti-Trump voter. It was just gratuitous and very disappointing.

Me: Agreed. I am in the last third of the book on Audible and I find the use of "current events" disappointing and his TDS via his lead protagonist enough for me to stop reading his books. He's rich and won't miss me and I know it's the character, not him, that is saying this shit, but he's the author and 2 and 2 does equal 4. If he does another Bosch book, I'll give it a try. I'll be posting a review to that point. IT ADDED NOTHING TO THE BOOK and your use fo "gratuitous" is spot on.

Nobody understands that the tech giants can do more than restrict speech. They can require speech. They control ALL communication, not just that which they don't like.

What happens when the big three tell the party in power what their demands are? Pelosi is going to pass a piece of legislation, or the DNC email list gets sold to Republicans. The possibilities are endless. Thats why they are so smug and lie at congressional hearings.

"You cant fight city hall", has become "nothing is more powerful than big Tech." If you are scared that Harris is beholden to China, what big tech demands, should have all of us pissing down our leg.

We know politicians are largely money whores. But that money is to keep them in office. Keep the power. Power is ALWAYS the end goal. Money is just tool to get and keep POWER
No amount of money is going to keep them in office if the big three want you gone.

Lee graduated second in his class. He had I think no demerits though.

MacArthur had the highest marks ever.

Wrong. Actually, the top graduate was Charles Mason in 1829:

'Asst.Professor of Engineering at the Military Academy. Highest graduating score in USMA history, and famous for graduating one slot ahead of Robert E. Lee, who had the second highest score in USMA history.'

And MacArthur finished third, I believe.

She and I were *extremely* close, but she stopped calling. She's calling herself by a new invented name, relentlessly posting on facebook about reiki and "crystal healing", and she's become cold to me. She knows the anguish and pain I went through from losing my wife to this (I had to have surgery in my neck from screaming so violently - in my sleep) and now she appears to think that's just a sign of my close-mindedness, and weakness, before it's power. I could go on.

As a Steelers fan, I'm pretty agitated about the way they played in the first half. It sure looked like it was the Steelers and not the Browns that didn't practice.
Even as bad as it was, I'd rather sit through that awful exhibition than see or hear any more political discourse. I'm doing my best to avoid that rabbit hole; for the sake of my sanity.

Overall, I'm with Crack. My hunch and conviction is that God is a construct of this amazing mass of stuff we carry around on top; and I don't think it can be argued that NewAge (rhymes with sewage) isn't the absolute death of rationality and common sense--and may be the death of much more than that.

But I've known since about 1976 or so that the VAST majority of humans are some compound of--in decreasing proportion--stupid, crazy, and evil, and most belief systems before about 1600 or so were all three.

Althousers, being an elite, should understand even if they disagree with atheism.

Re: Last night's Steelers debacle: Has any sports team ever suffered such a complete reversal of fortune? They were undefeated at 11-0, but then lost four of their last five games (only winning the one game by two points) and then completely imploded in a home playoff game with the worst first quarter in NFL history. Somebody must have really done something to piss off the football gods.

Tomcc said...

Clyde: the Steelers looked pretty crappy at Dallas and had Tennessee not missed a makeable FG, would have gone to OT. They had a great record, but were not particularly dominant.
What really bothers me is that while the Steelers are done, Antonio Brown is not.

Modern, Western atheism is just a Christian heresy. It is rooted in and can only exist in an environment of Judeo-Christian belief, as Western atheistic thought sets itself up in opposition to the existence of a knowable, personal, mono-existent deity.

Traditionalist, Eastern atheism is a different thing although whisps of it are making headway into common discourse. (If one more person of my acquaintance offers to send "healing vibes into the universe" for me, I may have to say thank you politely and roll my eyes REALLY hard.)

NewAge is recalcitrant paganism. Until its source is tossed into the abyss it will keep rearing its ugly head in places and among people that fail to acknowledge the one, true God. This is in much the same way the Molech worship is on the upswing here in the US with the ascendancy of the Democrats. Fortunately, the Dems' and 'libertarian' sanctification of child sacrifice is just a symptom, not the problem itself.

One part of the downhill slide of my last marriage was when my wife got into crystals and such. After she filed for divorce and before it was final, when I left our home (at the advice of the local cops who said, after she called them four times for bogus complaints -- their words, not mine --, that if she lied and said I committed battery on her, even without any physical evidence, that they would have to arrest me), she burned a bouquet of sage to "rid the house of evil" (in her words). And people think Christians are nuts with their beliefs.
