Big snowstorm in California mountains too. We drove home yesterday and it was striking how far the snow extended along I 10 from LA to Cabazon, an Indian reservation near Palm Springs. All the way to ground level in Banning Pass.
Here in Austin, a cold front blew through with rain this afternoon, and our overnight temps will almost certainly drop to 31F. Winter weather like this in central Texas brings out all the jackets, boots, hats, scarves, leggings and other gear Texans wear when skiing in Colorado. Other than ski trips, it is our only chance to wear them.
Not big at all. Run of the mill for your area. Don't fall for the media hyping of the "biggest" snowstorm of the year - it's only the second snow storm of the year, after all.

A doc I used to work with works as an ER doc in Colorado ski country. We used to talk about all the Texans with altitude sickness coming in his ER. Sea level to 8000 feet in one day is a bad idea.
We should get another pic at the same time tomorrow morning.
But, at some time today Meaadehouse should use ingenuity to remove the snow from the top of the deck hand railing. But, only the section of the railing that obscures they background tree.
For extra points it’d be cool to also see an illuminated angel (or star, for non-believers) at the top of the background tree. Just have Meade climb up there w/ a light-up Selaphiel (to prep for Thurs photo) and a long extension cord.
We get cold rain, which continues to leak through, or past, our recently repaired chimney
I would like winter a lot more here if we got some good snows.
For the first time in many years, my wife didn't put up a tree--she only deployed a couple of tabletop miniatures. Come to think, it may be the first time in our fortymumble years of marriage that she hasn't.
It takes some people a long time to get over that stuff.

It is still December, so no chastising for you...
The illusion here is that the tree in the foreground and background are one, as if it were only partially decorated.
I really need to move somewhere that gets snow.
Seven inches here in Omaha.
Pretty.
It looks like home field advantage.
"The illusion here is that the tree in the foreground and background are one, as if it were only partially decorated."
Yeah, well observed.
I can't say I did that on purpose or that the lights were put up lopsidedly or something burned out.
It is cool that the tree on the deck and the tree out in the yard look like one tree.

Beautiful!
We're at sunny and 76°, but I enjoy your photo. Love photos of snowfall.
Totally jealous. Miss the snow that the xmas rain took away. Dry and cold this morning, the muddy trails are now heaving ice-dirt.
We had a storm and cold snap here in Tucson - a little bit of rain and temp highs in the 50's.
At least it is sunny.
The snowbirds from Wisconsin and Minnesota are wearing shorts and t-shirts while we bundle up. Baby it's cold outside.

Dissent from media embiggening.
I assume we can ramble on cafes still. Was it Birkel who flounced out with Ann's “don’t come back” following him?
He really was/is a turd.
Dawn Wells RIP at 82.
This one hurts.
Rory beat me to it. Very surprised that she was 82; she's fixed in my mind as a youthful Mary Ann with pig tails.

I wondered how much. Not much sign of heavy rain when we got home. OC had rain like the proverbial cow and flat rock.

IMHO.
Evidently God chose Mary Ann.
Can’t blame him.
...and he defended Ginger from the self-righteous mob
"Evidently God chose Mary Ann."
He has good taste.

Michael K, I hope you got to see some snowcapped mountains. San Gabriel range particularly beautiful.
