I loved that song! It never occurred how difficult it would be to Mach Schau about it in a live performance. He did a good job of it

My mind also went right to Mexican Radio on seeing Soviet Radio. The power of music.
Spend more time reading alternate news sites instead of this vanity project and you may begin to make sense.
Loved this video, showed what MTV could have been and was for a while. Young upcoming bands being presented to the interested music crowd. What does MTV do now, I wonder. Haven't been on that channel since the early 90s, if I recall. If I want some Echo I go to you-tube, same with the other great 80s groups. I just can't understand the business model anymore.

Well if we're going to trade Wall of Voodoo links, you can't get any better than Call Of The West off the same album.
Good grief Althouse. 5 years of Trump tweets and you're still over-reacting and reading things into them. He's TWEETING. He's not issuing a fucking policy statement. Its not the State of Union. He got just as worked up over the Russia-Mueller-Comey fraud. Trump also "throws stuff out" there, he retweets and says "well, this is interesting" or "this is possible".
I'm 100 percent sure there was vote fraud, and Trump is too. And he's fighting against the whole Fucking Media and the Establishment. So, he may exaggerate. He may mention things that aren't 100 percent proven. So What?
I hope he DOES have the facts. If he does, we'll see it in the Court Documents. I could go further onto the subject of invalid votes vs. vote fraud, but that's for another thread.
Since I don't have that one ripped for some reason, I had forgotten how great an album Happy Planet was.

'78 to '84 were just great in general. It was a nice lull after all the arena bands either burned out, were all in rehab, or had uncertain futures, and before the music business caught up to what was going on with newer artists and ruined it.
These guys sound like the proto-B52s...not necessarily a good thing.

My understanding is that Wall of Voodoo’s “Ring of Fire” cover was Johnny Cash’s favorite. And IMO it should be: June Carter wrote “Ring of Fire” about her experience of falling in love with Johnny while married to another man. It needs to be performed from the perspective of a Southern Baptist absolutely, irrevocably convinced they’re going to hell. Only Wall of Voodoo has enough respect for the story to do that.
Speaking of respect for a story, my favorite Wall of Voodoo piece is Canouflage. “But before he went he said “Semper Fi!’ and said his only wish was to save a young Marine caught in a barrage.”
I went to school with WoV’s frontman. His real name is Stan Funsten, and was clearly way more talented than the rest of us.
He did some excellent solo work as Stan Ridgway. Mosquitos is particularly outstanding.
