"If you are black and hold elected office in America, coming to Atlanta is like coming back to the womb."

Said Kamala Harris, yesterday in Atlanta. Transcript.
[Donald Trump] had the gall... to suggest that he keeps a ledger, and you’re on one side of his ledger if you don’t wear a mask, you’re on another side of his ledger if you wear a mask. And now look where we are. Now look where we are.…
Even before he was running for office when he questioned the legitimacy of the birthplace of the first black president of the United States, has been so weirdly obsessed with trying to get rid of whatever Barack Obama created. Think about that. We don’t need presidents who have weird obsessions. What is that about?...

We don’t need presidents who have weird obsessions — that's a striking line, but a devious insinuation. What is that about? The Atlantans — who make black politicians feel like they're in a womb — are expected to complete the thought: It's about Donald Trump being a racist.

We are looking at families that are getting up at the crack of dawn, to drive to sit in their car in a food line for hours. Praying that they can get to the end of the line before the food runs out. One in five mothers in America is describing her children under the age of 12 as being hungry. We’re in the midst of a hunger crisis in America....

There is support for that factual assertion here.  Back to the transcript:

[Donald Trump] measures how well the economy is doing based on the stock market. Who measures how well the economy is doing based on how rich people are doing. Who as one of his first orders of business, passed a tax bill benefiting the top 1% and the biggest corporations of America. I will tell you, Joe Biden and I will make it one of our highest priorities to get rid of that tax bill, and do what we know needs to be done to invest that money in working families....

[Donald Trump] refuses and will never say, “Black lives matter.” And then have the gall to stand on that debate stage at the last debate in front of 70 million Americans, and would not condemn white supremacists.

She means the first debate, and of course, he did condemn white supremacists when asked, though he's been criticized for failing to say it strongly enough.

And people have asked me, they say, “Well, Senator Harris… ” By the way senator is not on my birth certificate. It’s Kamala.

Harris's predecessor in that Senate seat, Barbara Boxer, famously rankled when she was not addressed as Senator Boxer. Presumably, Boxer realized afterward that her prickly haughtiness looked ridiculous, and clearly Kamala believes she needs to present herself as warm and folksy. It can seem phony, but it's a standard approach for male politicians, so don't give the female politician any less tolerance. But that's just a quick aside as she cues up the familiar Trump-is-a-racist litany:

And they say, “Well, do you think… Are you saying? Do you think he’s a racist?” Yes, yes. Because you see, it’s not like it’s some random one off. We’ve seen that pattern going back to him questioning the legitimacy of Barack Obama, going back to Charlottesville. When people were peacefully protesting racial injustice in America, a woman was killed. And on the other side, you had a bunch of neo-Nazis wearing swastikas, carrying Tiki torches, slurring, throwing out anti-Semitic and racist slurs, and Donald Trump said, “Well, there are fine people on both sides.” A president of the United States who referred to Mexicans as rapists and criminals. A president of the United States who made as one of his first policy initiatives, a ban on Muslims entering our country. And then stood on that stage and would not condemn known white supremacist, and then double down and said, “Well, they should stand back and stand by.” This is not reflective of who we believe we are as a nation. We need a president who acknowledges systemic racism, who acknowledges the history of America, and uses that bully pulpit and that microphone, in a way that speaks truth with an intention to address the inequities and bring our country together. And that is Joe Biden.

Good to know she thinks that is a weird obsession and would never want to get rid of anything Trump created if she were to getting to office. Yeah right!

For me at least the Charlottesville slur is disqualifying. Under other circumstances, while I wouldn't vote for Biden I might be willing to sit this election out. But repeatedly twisting this out of context and cutting out parts of the quote is unconscionable.

I really hate these statements from politicians. I know they were effective at one time, back when we were using common definitions and collecting the data using government statisticians.

At one time it was enlightening because we’d never quantified these issues before and certainly not on a national scale.

But today there is no legitimacy to these statements. Outside groups compile data for policy purposes and politicians pick the worst outcomes to manipulate the voters through outrage and shame.

It’s no longer information, it’s just made-up numbers for emotional manipulation.

This speech sounds damning, but it’s really just more of same. Democrats need almost the entirety of the minority vote—solid majorities aren’t enough to carry their coalition through”—and Donald Trump “the racist” is taking a big and growing chunk of that minority vote. Less than half, but far more than Democrats can spare. So there’s a bleeding that must be staunched now, but if this tired litany of old smears is the best they can do...her audience has heard it all before and they’ve concluded that the Dems are all talk.

Whatever the year, it does not matter. Whatever the times, the reality on the ground, in the economy, it does not matter. Democrats inevitably have one message to pump at people, continuously:

Republicans are racist. They are sexist. They are homophobic, xenophobic. They want to take away your healthcare. They want to prevent you from voting. They want to make laws that only help the wealthy and....Wall Street.

I mean- any of us could run as a Democrat. This is the only attack- since 1964. Literally- since 1964 that has been the playbook in some form or another. It's really pumped up to this message that includes all of the 'ists' since the Clinton's were running, but this is it.

At some point, when you're living in Atlanta, Detroit, Baltimore, Milwaukee, Newark, LA, San Francisco, Cleveland, Chicago, Washington DC, New Orleans, Seattle, Portland, etc. you've got to look around you and ask yourself and ask your family and friends: Have the Democrats worked out for any of us? No- I don't just mean our political office holders and their friends, I mean- us. Have the Democrats worked out for any of us?

He was raised as a young child in a foreign country, Indonesia, and as a Muslim. (And I think your identity is formed by where you grew up, not where you are born.)

And I do think, even now, that there is some legitimate question about where actually Obama was born.

But from the beginning of this whole controversy, I thought the whole issue was a false flag, a red herring -- that was quite possibly deliberately planted -- or at least encouraged, by Team Obama because it was inevitably going to be fruitless.

There were other, better grounds to attack Obama on and it was unfortunate, or very deliberate, that things took this path.

Obesity is the biggest contributor to health problems for the poor in Atlanta and elsewhere. The only hungry kids I ever saw in any community in Atlanta were hungry because dad was gone and mom was smoking up the WIC vouchers. There's a steady trade in food stamps and WIC for cash.

Yeah, we've had a steady stream of magic black female politicians in Atlanta. Police Chief Beverly Harvard, who disappeared rape cases involving underaged minority girls at the strip club frequented by powerful black politicians and rappers. Mayor Shirley Franklin: a serious crook. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms: a less intelligent serious crook. Both women double-dipped and got relatives on the gravy train: Bottoms, the dumber of the two, is inches from being implicated in her predecessor's crimes. Franklin's lucky she didn't go down with Mayor Bill Campbell, another black politician who went to prison. Mayor Kaseem Reed was once slated to be Hillary Clinton's VP. Now he's facing the slammer and may take Bottoms with him. Ditto the longtime DA, a Harris pal.

What Harris never asks is why any child in the country legitimately is ever hungry? We give enough money away every year in government programs that no one here legitimately should ever be hungry, starting with Food Stamps/EBT. School aged kids have the advantage over everyone else with the School Lunch program. Or would if the public school teachers would just go back to work. No one should be surprised, of course, that Harris isn’t mentioning the culpability of this major Dem constituency in child hunger.

There are a couple things going on here, helping to cause the problem. First, a lot of low income people, and esp in the Black community, live in food deserts. Crime was already making it hard to keep stores selling food, and esp the grocery stores that much of the rest of the country depends on, open in the poorer lower class neighborhoods. Then AntiFA and their BLM allies, both Marxist organizations, burned down a lot of the remaining stores selling food this last summer in these neighborhoods. The rest of us would just jump in their cars, or call an Uber, Lyft, or a taxi to drive to the nearest grocery. (We have a Whole Foods less than a mile away here, with several Kroger’s, Safeway’s, and Walmarts in a five mile radius). But they can’t afford to own a car, and rental rides don’t service these communities very well because of the crime. Of course, Dem party policies are the primary causes for most of these problems. The Targets, bodegas, etc burned out by the rioters that Harris has never really condemned, are not going to be rebuilt in the near future.

Another aspect of the problem is that a lot of the food assistance that we are already supplying isn’t turning into feed on the tables in these communities. One problem is that a lot of people trade their EBT cards for cash, at maybe 50¢ on the $1. That money is then used for other purposes, such as drugs.

No doubt, Harris won’t go within a quarter mile of addressing the real problems here, because her political party is the source of most of them. Instead, if she actually does propose solutions, it will likely be expensive, duplicative, governmental programs with little more chance of success than those already in place. No one likes to see kids starving. But the solution is not socialism, which she is essentially pushing. Venezuela is so bad that they are eating rats, since the pets and zoo animals have long been consumed. Socialism in action. That is what they want though, because that is how people like Harris get rich.

The Brookings study to which Althouse linked does provide some factual support for KH's one in five mothers reporting hungry children. But to cite it is cherry picking.

First of all, it provides no support for the sitting in cars claim though I believe KH is implying that the car sitters and hunger-reporting mothers are one and the same.
Second, it attributes these feelings to the covid pandemic, not Trump.
Third, it is a snapshot from April of this year when legitimate fear, layoffs, quarantines, economic disruption, and uncertainty were at their peak.

No wonder mothers with young children expressed concern for their families welfare. I doubt it was restricted to self reported hunger alone.

The insinuation that Trump is trying to get rid of Obama policies because Obama was black has long been a trope of the Democrats' case that Trump is racist.
Because I'm sure you all remember the Obama years, when anybody opposing Obama policies was doing it out of racism.
Forget that ditching the Iran deal, moving our embassy to Jerusalem, getting rid of regulations, and opening land for fracking - all things Obama opposed- have had very positive consequences for the US. Instead, you have to imply its racism.

It must be great to be young enough and naïve enough to take all the "caring" rhetoric seriously from Biden, Harris and company. Some new face in politics might be able to pull it off - some Jimmy Stewart in a Frank Capra movie type - but not Harris, and certainly not Biden.

I'm sure Obama wasn't born in Kenya. Barack Sr. and the Dunhams couldn't have afforded flying Sr. and pregnant Stanley Ann half-way around the world to meet Sr.'s parents and other wife. People didn't do things like that back then (and with the "other wife" aspect, I'm pretty sure they don't do that even now).

But people didn't have much verifiable information about President Obama's early years, and the idea of somebody who grew up abroad, as Harris did, becoming president is something not everyone is comfortable with. In any case, it's not like birtherism is a live issue for most Americans today.

But it was because Antifa had shown up to battle the Neo Nazis.

In the aftermath, but in a move we've seen repeated over and over, the left protesters were swarming cars and one of them got hit by a car. How many times did we see that this summer? But we don't hear Biden/Harris talk about those people. We just hear about this one, as if its the ONE time protests got violent. Why don't the other people killed in protests matter?

The womb's a fine and private place, but not one that Democrats do there embrace....There's a neat trick to appealing to Black resentments without triggering white hostility. I don't think Kamala has quite mastered the trick. Obama was pretty deft at it. I can't count the times I've had someone knock on my door and try to sell me food stamps or WIC, which is supposed to have more safeguards. Having a governor (I'm looking at you, Gretchen Whitmer), order that Walmart can sell canned corn but not corn seeds just proves that she's a looney tyrant. People are hungry because the governors have prevented them from working so they can feed their families.

Many democrats can't see the forest for the trees. All they can focus on is the risk from the China virus. They can't see the damage down to everyone by shutdown economy.

A Planned return to the womb and anthropogenic selection. This is reminiscent of Democrats gaming "no child left behind" and disenfranchising their constituents. Harris is Pro-Choice.

The MSM are part of the Goebbels' big lie conspiracy. If all you watch and read is the MSM, then you're world view is going to be Democrats are saints and Republicans are damned.

Fetal-American. Black, brown, white, albino... we are all conceived and end our natural evolution with a pale shade of diversity.

Part of the Charlottesville lie is attributing to Trump the "replace us" chant. Just ask any Dem about Trump's racism and anti-semetism. The Dems believe what the fascist MSM tells them.

Once you go Pro-Choice... collateral damage.

This Is STUNNING: Mandates (incl Masks) CAUSE Deaths

Xenophilia, Planned Parent, social contagion, improper sanitation, poor hygienic habits, stigmatized early treatments, cargo cult (e.g. intuitive) science together drove the excess deaths and collateral damage.

"We are looking at families that are getting up at the crack of dawn, to drive to sit in their car in a food line for hours. Praying that they can get to the end of the line before the food runs out."
********
So...those hungry families can afford to own a car and buy gas for it, but don't have money for food? And sit in their car among a long line of cars, either idling or starting the engine again and again to move forward in the queue?

Where's the evidence?

I call bullshit---straight up.

The unemployment rate is under 8%. If the mothers can't work to earn money to feed their children there is no reason that the fathers can't go out and find a job. You don't need to make 65000 a year to provide basic needs for your children. With the government support we provide most any job will do. Chipping in as little as 75 dollars a week per child can make sure they don't go hungry.

“Amazon will accept EBT payments to deliver food in Georgia, plus 38 other states and the District of Columbia.”

Assuming that Amazon delivers there. There are very likely places where they won’t.

“Surprisingly, people who live in "food deserts" find somewhere to spend the entire balance of their EBT card on laundry detergent and other non-perishable goods that can be sold for cash at roadside stands. This isn't "another aspect of the problem", this is the problem.”

Simpler than that - at least here in AZ, EBT cards are regularly exchanged for cash or even drugs. Or at least were five years ago. I know people who were regularly offered cards at that 50¢ on a $1 rate of exchange.

security detail has to watch "OUT" >>> they are supposed to be looking around and not at their principal - unless they are also supposed to be lifeguards? or hold his robe or whatever when he get out?

"Praying that they can get to the end of the line before the food runs out."

Only someone who hasn't stood in a line in a very long time thinks that people are praying to get to the end of a line. The devout hope of actual line-standers is to get to the front of the line and then be able look back and feel sympathy for the person who's at the end of it.

Not stunning to me, Gilbar. I, and others, have been saying this for 6 months or more.

In any event, we only have about 15 more days until KungFlu is over.

And by the end of November we'll be going Kung Flu, what the heck is that? I seem to remeber hearing something about it a few months ago but cant remember what exactly.

This will be true even if somehow Harris and Biden manage to win.

Althouse, I confess to being stumped at your capricious censoring of my posts.

Have I offended the sisterhood by pointing out the obvious, that Harris is a dullard who slept her way to the top?

Someone above wanted a definition of systemic racism. It's when a system has a disparate negative outcome for the approved victim class, even though there is no actual discrimination involved. The disparate outcome alone proves that the system is racist, i.e. the SAT is a racist system. If the disparate outcome happens to Whites or Asians, that's not racist, that's merely justice, i.e. the NBA is not racist.

Doug, oddly enough, my mother in law, suffering from dementia, now calls me Doug.
This has nothing to do with your contretemps with Althouse.
I just think my MIL is really enjoying her dementia, so far.

I used to live in Georgia. Atlanta is a great city. Parts of it are sludge, like any other city. But there's lots to like about Atlanta and the surrounding area. I'm just not sure that telling Blacks that coming to the capital of a former penal colony is like returning to the womb.
