And here comes the suckiest month: November.

Here in central Texas, leaves just turn brown without the color, and drop without fanfare.
Lotsa pecans this year, though!

What a beautiful time of year. In Alaska we only have 2 seasons. Winter and breakup.

And here comes the suckiest month: November.

That would be February, before pitchers and catchers report. At least with November, you have Thanksgiving.

Leaves are falling all around
It's time I was on my way
Thanks to you I'm much obliged
For such a pleasant stay

But now it's time for me to go
The autumn moon lights my way
For now I smell the rain
And with it pain
And it's headed my way

Ah, sometimes I grow so tired
But I know I've got one thing I got to do

You can tell its October here in southern AZ because I am out of shorts and sandals and into long pants and shoes.

You can also tell who the snowbirds are. They are the ones wearing shorts and sandals. The weather is fine for that.

My favorite months are May and October.

Beautiful photo.

Leaves are the only thing I miss about the Midwest vs. California.

Gorgeous! This Fall, here in Nevada City, the trees are not as colorful this year.

And, after PG&E has been through, cutting down all the trees near power lines, and many neighbors have cut down other trees, in order to avoid cancellation of their insurance policies, nature's glory has dimmed.

The Great Smokey Mountains never change. Best place to hike are trails starting where the road to nowhere ends. It’s so quiet the falling leaves sound loud.

Even the trees are going for Trump.

We spent the last few days in Kansas City and the leaves were glorious. You midwesterners are blessed to be surrounded by such beauty.

February is way worse than November.

October is nice in Maryland. Some of our best weather, and some decent, if not extravagant, fall colors. Unfortunately, those leaves mostly fall off the trees onto my lawn in November.

Always my favorite month of the year, and not just because of the World Series. I love the changing colors, the cool, crisp air, the smells, especially of burning leaves. And the fact that it’s not Winter yet. :-)

october is my favorite month. It symbolizes CHANGE
october starts like september; warm and sunny
october ends like november; blustery and dim

We got 8 inches of snow, halting our beautiful autumn and freezing all the leaves on our red oak before they could fall.

Next snowfall is gonna break it, I'm afraid.

I feel the same way about October as a month, and yesterday was my favorite day of the year: first snow!

November is great. Falling leaves, crisp air, Thanksgiving. February is without merit. Its too bad Human beings can't hibernate. I'm looking forward to "falling back" an hour. I like early sunrises.

One of the few things I miss from northern Virginia.

Sic Semper Tyrannis!

The changing of the seasons...but not the cold of winter...

Delivering wapo's hefty 80's sunday logs was brutal wintertime, sometimes you could only fit a dozen in your front/back sack.

All the leaves are on the ground here, excepting of course the red oak. They will remain on the trees until March.

October was a good month. Two deer in the freezer.

Septober, Octember, and Nowonder all hold their charms for me.

Still rather dull here, with a few vivid exceptions

February is Black History Month, you racists.

October contains my favorite season — Indian summer. That’s the string of warm days (upper 70s) in late October. It’s my reminder to wrap up the last of my outdoor chores and then close the shutoffs to the outside faucets and drain the hoses.

We back onto woods and most if the oaks were still green last week. But last night was the hard freeze that means winter is coming and now the only green you see is from pines.

I love them all for their own unique attributes, but there is an order, a sequence, to my love. September is first, October is second. March may be my least loved love. It can be such a tease and takes much too long to blossom.

Adios October, it's been grand. See ya next year!

It has been the October of my dreams.

Very nice pictures, very evocative of the season, the season of magic light.

Humperdink @12:52 PM:

"...The leaves are all dead on the ground,
Save those that the oak is keeping
To ravel them one by one
And let them go scraping and creeping
Out over the crusted snow,
When others are sleeping..."

Leaves are falling, just like embers, in colors red and gold, set us on fire, burning just like a moonbeam , in our minds. the ex John Prine.
