At the Type #5 Café...

IMG_0277

... you can write about anything you want.

I was pleased to see the Z shape that make this a #5 in my categorization of sunrise types: "This was the first sunrise type I identified. It's what made me start the list. There is a distinctive Z-shape where the sun is. It's hard to discern with the naked eye, but it shows up in the photographs." Yes, I couldn't see it in real time. It was an a-ha moment just now.

I almost cut my hair.
It happened just the other day.
It was gettin' kinda long.
I could have said it wasn't my way.
But I didn't, and now I wonder why
I feel like lettin' my freak flag fly.
Somehow, I feel like I owe it to someone.

At the time Crosby, Stills and Nash released that song, I had blonde hair halfway down my back, and I knew exactly what they were talking about. Somehow, I felt like I owed it to someone. And now I have this shrieking-red MAGA hat, with the flag on the side and TRUMP 2020 over the little hole where my straggly gray pony-tail would stick out, if I had one. If I wear it around Eugene, a significant fraction of the people I encounter will immediately hate me, and some of them may be inclined to attack me. But somehow, I feel ....

Trump doesn't wear mask: Put on a mask!
Trump wears mask: LOL a mask!
Trump gets COVID: Faking it!
Trump's COVID is mild: He's dying!
Trump has strong therapies: Too strong!
Trump in hospital: LOL he called a lid!
Trump waves to supporters: He's killing everyone!

I watched an Austin City Limits today, a compilation of the late John Prine’s performances given over 5 decades. What a songwriter!

I was thinking of voting for Trump this time around (I was one of the 7MM that voted “other” in 2016), primarily as a big F**k You to all of the vile nastiest directed towards Trump Supporters and any person who vaguely identifies as Republican (like me) during the past 4 years.

But today’s drive-around was a pivot point against a Trump vote. Maybe I’ll pivot again, but right now I cannot vote for insanity. Can’t vote for dementia either, so it’s looking like “other” again.

But when all is said and done - if Amy Coney Barrett is confirmed, the country is safe for another decade or so. The Dems can try to pack the court if they take over Congress and the White House - but they will catastrophically lose in 2018 and thereafter for many years. The Electoral College is not going away. Blue states can harvest ballots, allow non-citizen and dead people ballots for as long as they wish but it won’t matter to the Supreme Court. I can live with that – and thank God for Senator Mitch McConnell who deserves 100% of the credit for saving – for now - this Republic.

How The DNC Hired CrowdStrike To Frame Russia For The Hack

Blaming Russia would be a handy way to deal with the Podesta emails.
The only way to associate Putin with the emails was circumstantially.
The DNC retained a company that called itself “CrowdStrike” to provide assistance.

Kathryn51...I don't understand...driving around tonight does three things - it drives the narrative and shows Trump is still in control of that narrative, it shows his supporters his appreciation, and it drivers the left and the TDS crowd insane. WIN-WIN-WIN.

I notice another day of mostly silence from major well known Demoncrats about Trump and Melania getting covid. As I said before, I think their focus groups show, and they say nothing without focus grouping it first, is that not matter what they say- they lose support. They blame or laugh at Trump- they turn off the undecided. They wish Trump and Melania a swift recovery- they lose support from the rabid wing of the party, which is now the base. They're best option- remain silent.

And on the other side- I see an increasing number of people wondering- why did just Republicans at the debate get the dreaded covid? Did reporters who knew they had covid mingle with the Republicans while avoiding the Demoncrats? This speculation is being taken seriously by more than I'm comfortable with. And it shows an extreme distrust of the Demoncrat side.

Other's speculate that if a mask wearing Demoncrat gets it- they're NOT going to say anything. They're going to isolate and not say they're isolating, because admitting "Hey, I masked, I followed the social distancing, and I still got the dreaded covid!" is a losing message for their side's dedication to closing down the economy to hurt Trump. (And if they didn't mask and didn't socially distance, it proves them hypocrites- a no win situation....) I'm more inclined to believe that that deliberate spread to Republicans, and I'm not yet believing it.

But it is curious- no high profile Demoncrats with the dreaded covid, isn't it?

I still say that the Diamond Princess gave us all the numbers to understand the spread of covid. 3711 on board at the start. 6344 positive tests in an absolutely ideal environment for spreading it- 17%. So not nearly as contagious as advertised- OR, and it's a big OR, a lot of people had a natural immunity to it. I don't think to date it's penetrated >20% of any population, masked or unmasked, drastic restrictions on movement or freedom to travel, or anything else. So one of those two reasons. It's harder to get or a large number of people are immune to it.

As far as number of cases go, I'm disinclined to believe them. The states cannot all be testing and reporting in the same manner. Two states with over 37,000 cases/million people. Louisiana and Florida. Sunny states, lot's of sunshine. Where the weather is less than ideal for virus spread. Oregon, West Virginia, Hawaii, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont with under 10,000 cases/million people. Florida with 37,594/million at the high end, Vermont with 2849/million at the low end. That's a 13-1 difference. It seems that's a little bit hard to believe is actually real. Is Florida testing a greater percentage of people and catching all the asymptomatic and Vermont testing only those with noticeable symptoms? We have no way of knowing, but a 13-1 difference isn't explained by masks and social distancing and obsessive handwashing.

And there's another yet unanswered and unasked by a curiously incurious press. The 50,000+ people with RA and some type of lupus IIRC who have been taking HCQ long term before the dreaded covid hit our shores. What's their dreaded covid infection and death rate? Were it higher than the general population methinks it would have already been broadcast widely to prove President Trump is a know-nothing idiot. The fact that those easy to obtain numbers for the medical establishment have not been obtained and told to us tells me something else- that HCQ as a prophylactic against the dreaded covid works.

Gospace said...

But separating out factors between different places is problematic. It's been pointed out that in Africa where HCQ is available OTC that there is a much lower covid death rate than in the USA. The dreaded covid kills the elderly at much greater rates than the young. <5% of Africa is >65. About 16% of the USA is >65. And I'm certain the disparity between Africa and the USA gets even greater when you get to >75 and >85. Could that by itself explain the death the difference? But then, can you believe any numbers out of Africa anyway? Probably not.

There has to be a reckoning for those who attempted, and still attempt, to destroy a campaign, then a President elect, and now President.

That the majority of our msm is complicit along with high ranking pols and certainly the lefts candidate, who exemplifies what a swamp creature is( see the graft and corruption around nearly ALL of his family) and refuses to report or even ask questions is a low point for this nation. Why would we reward those who have undertaken the most criminal of conspiracies with all the power to fundamentally change our nation.

If Biden is elected, those who planned and executed this charade will never be brought to justice and the weaponizing of our government will continue and we will be no better than any banana republic. Our freedoms will continue to be eroded. We will deserve exactly what we get.

My wife had it in June. She was very sick for 5 days and recuperated at home for another two weeks. She has taken HCQ for years for RA, I took it too for that period. Pharmacies are now only filling one month prescription.

I'm sincerely glad that your wife is OK and you didn't get it. That's a sample size of two- not statistically significant. But a start. Are there a bunch of other Althouse readers/commenters with HCQ stories?
