For me, one of the tests of Biden's sincerity is whether he will order his secret service detail not to shoot to kill, but only to shoot at the legs of possible assailants. And (when he becomes President) will he require each secret service detail to include a psychiatrist?

Who doesn’t love the Bidens? The ChiComs certainly love him to the tune of tens of millions of dollars in bribes. Even bin Laden liked Joe Biden:

“In a letter, bin Laden wrote to a top Al-Qaeda official that he was instructing the Islamic terrorist organization to create two groups to watch for and target U.S. aircraft visiting the region that could be carrying Obama or then-CIA Director David Petraeus,” The Daily Wire reported. “Bin Laden specifically instructed the terrorists to ‘not to target visits by U.S. Vice President Biden.'”

The main reason he wanted to kill Obama was to make Clueless Joe Biden POTUS.

Biden was sent to negotiate a deal to keep 20K troops in Iraq after the war to keep Iran from moving in. Of course those talks failed, but all was not lost, James Biden came out with a 1.5 billion dollar contract to rebuild the homes that “the big guy” voted to destroy in the war.

No doubt they do the same thing when actual human beings are present.
More annoying than obvious product placement in movies.
Disappointingly sad.

That stadium can hold 65,000 fans. Tickets average $97.00, parking around $40.00
Another 20 or 30 bucks for snacks.

That is a lot of money down the Newsome lockdown toilet.

"Exclusive — Peter Schweizer: Hunter Biden’s Flipped Business Partner Provided 26,000 Emails"

We know the corruption was real, and it was substantial, illegal, and lied about by the Democratic candidate for President, who is also a proven and admitted liar who did not graduate at the top of his class among other things, and is also running for U.S. Senate for some reason. I say we elect him to seat he is running for - the Senate, and give him Hirono's seat.

Read the article and be amazed at the proof we have of this corruption, which is still being suppressed by outlets that Biden voters use for news.

Boy, I am so loving the Hallmark this year.

The last few years there's been more black actors principals, moving up from being sidekicks or bosses. I think it was just this year that there are a lot of interracial couples. In one movie part of the gaggle of bridesmaids was a lipstick lesbian couple and they kissed!

This evening I'm just finishing a farm-themed one and I think there might be cowboys in the next one. They're both new to me.

My children being half-Asian, I'd like to see some more Asian protaganists because [cough, cough] I have Yellow Fever.

So, Althouse, I know you are abstaining and everything, and you oppose "bullshitting" about reasons.

But I think you care about the basic integrity of the system. The Russia collusion hoax scandalously undermined it. Why is that not a good reason to vote for the victim and against the party of the perpetrators?

The Biden family has been credibly accused of corruption. Do you dismiss the accusations? If not, why is that not a good enough reason to vote against Biden?

Why?

FBI special agent Joshua Wilson. whose specific crime investigations are on child pornography, was brought in on the case surrounding a laptop that allegedly belonged to Hunter Biden

FBI Special Agent Gregory Wing was working the Smollett investigation.

Wing supervises the Child Sex Crimes and Violent Crimes Against Children squad in the FBI’s Chicago Field Office and is considered one of the top agents investigating child sex trafficking in the country.

Why is one of FBI’s premier child sex crimes and child sex trafficking investigators working on an assault case? Wing and his FBI task force track down high-profile pedophiles and pimps.

So, a Vietnamese single mom with two teenage boys moves to a small town when she gets a job as a teacher. One reason she left Chicago was the AZN gang in the neighborhood harassing her boys.

She's an excellent teacher and really motivates the students at the high school to work harder and do better and the whole town loves her. But, at home, she's a real Tiger Mom and her sons would really like her to chill out. Then somehow they befriend a local farmer who likes to teach them how to hunt with owls and they begin looking up to him as a father figure.

Whoops, I almost forgot the farmer has a boy and girl teenager in high school and they both are in Viet teacher's classes. Did I mention that one is divorced and the other is widowed?

Four new Senators, two for each team. Texas splits in the expectation of FOUR Red-team senators -- two of whom are new.) And Team blue and Team Red divide California three ways. Four Blue (two new, offsetting Texas) and two new seats to be contested. Swing seats? Or simply one of each?

2. AA voted Dem in 2016 (Hillary), who lost.
3. In 2020, AA is not voting Dem or Rep.
4, As a moderate, AA represents thousands of moderates who voted for Hillary last time, but not SlowJoe this time.
5. Very few people who voted Trump last night, are voting Biden this time.
6. This means Biden likely to get less votes this time, than Hillary did last time.

The real question I have is this- will he now skip the last debate at the last moment- you know Welker won't bring up the topic, but given the performance of all the moderators to date, I think Trump will just take over on Thursday night and set the agenda himself right off daring Welker to shit about it- he might even drive Biden from the stage.

Seriously- take a fucking look at the topic list Welker put out- ground already covered in each of the 4 events that have taken place so far. Do we need another discussion COVID and white racism- almsot surely the COVID section will repeat Guthrie's attempt to make Trump's diagnosis a topic again. It is time for Trump to tell the moderator to stuff it, next question.

The politicians listen to the administrators and when they tell us to trust the science, they mean the bureaucracy. The medical professionals can’t and won’t backtrack now. It’s too late."

So far so good, except tithing of course is somewhat different than contributing to a specific church while attending services. Speaking of wads, to my way of thinking anything less than a “wad of cash” would have resulted in severe pearl clutching in the media about the “tightwad” rich man, Trump.

I'm assuming he went prepared for that moment because I don't really think of him as someone who'd be carrying cash around with him.

Why not? He hasn’t always been POTUS. He was a real estate tycoon and wildly successful tv producer before he beat Hillary. What if he wanted to tip a cabby? And what is wrong with being prepared?

Does he stop at the ATM regularly?

I assume he did. Not now, of course. Such behavior would be too risky. But before being POTUS, sure. Again, why not? I can easily imagine that a rich man who has no compunction about ordering a McDonald’s Meal might also step up to the lowly ATM when needing a little incidental cash.

Anyway, I think it would have been funny if he'd just waved it off.

Readers, here I think we may have a case of wishful thinking. Many, if not all, in the MSM would have LOVED to report such a complete faux pas. The thought must be delicious to any anti-Trumper: The tightwad Orange Man (who recovers irritatingly quick from Covid).

Drawandstrike says beware of Wayne Allen Root- he's not always reliable.

And now masks- I am not protecting you in the ordinary course of a day by wearing a mask, unless, of course, I am actually sick. If I feel sick- I don't go out- that protects you even more. Scientists and medicos currently cannot decide whether the asymptomatic can even spread the dreaded covid. So far during the covidiocy I've tested negative twice for antibodies. I get my next antibody test 31 oct when I donate my 3rd pint of blood since the covidiocy began. So between when the covidiocy began and 20 Aug I could not have infected anyone with the dreaded covid because I hadn't had it. And I strongly suspect the results from the 21 Oct donation will show the same thing- that my mask wearing has been nothing but theater. I'm 65. I'm not worried about getting the dreaded covid. I've had 2 sons diagnosed with the dreaded covid- isolating here at home with me and my 63 year old wife. Their doctors were terribly worried we would get it. And they were assuming we made our kids wear masks and stay in their rooms and completely isolate themselves from us. We didn't. And the kids had symptoms and totally recovered! Amazing, isn't it?

The state has always had the power to quarantine people- sick people. Or in the very olden days, where the term quarantine comes from, to isolate travelers from afar until any sickness then known about passed it's latency period. Isolating the entire population to protect themselves from themselves? That's taking away freedom. had a male Karen here complain on the town Facebook page children were (GASP!) PLAYING BASKETBALL! As a result, the nets and backboards were taken down. If (When?) the boogaloo happens many may have him on their list. What list? Use your imagination....

Wearing masks is useless theater when done by everyone. And- interferes with normal human behavior. Smiles, smirks, frowns, non-verbal signals- can't be seen through a mask. And they're a major part of communication. And, courtships, relationships, things like that, cannot be started with masks and social distancing. We've had more than 6 months of puppy love being extinguished, young people who might have experienced their first kiss miss the opportunity, engagements that might have happened haven't. All the proms, dances, mixers, and whatnot that haven't happened have set back the emotional growth of all high schoolers and college students. Their social life and development has come to a complete halt during the years when it grows and develops. Not a good thing for society- I can guarantee it.

[Some] Reporters involved in the New York Post didn’t trust the false story about Hunter Biden they reported last week . . .

The alleged laptop that was turned into a Delaware shop owner in 2019, but the metadata for the alleged incriminating information wasn’t created until after the laptop was turned over to the shop, investigators found. The conspiracy is already falling apart.

Two sources, Steve Bannon and Rudy Giuliani, were the ones who handed over the hard drive on Oct. 11, 2020 to the Post, because “either nobody else would take it, or if they took it, they would spend all the time they could to try to contradict it before they put it out,” said Giuliani. It doesn’t speak well for the Rupert Murdoch-owned outlet.

One credited author, Emma-Jo Morris, the [New York Post] deputy politics editor, hasn’t had her name attached to a story once in the four years she has worked for the publication. She previously served as an associate producer on [Trump advisor] Sean Hannity’s Fox News show.

Now Breitbart has joined the slimey "October Surprise" news parade, saying that former Hunter Biden business partner Bevan Cooney provided emails published late last week in a Breitbart News exclusive . Cooney is currently serving a sentence in federal prison due to his conviction over financial deals. Another partner, Devon Archer was also convicted by a jury in federal court but these convictions dealt with scamming Native American tribes.

Writer Matthew Tyrmand, a Bannon protege, intense Trump supporter and a board member of Project Veritas, obtained the emails because Cooney believes he was the “fall guy.” The first article on these emails claimed they detailed how Hunter Biden and his partners secured meetings with senior White House officials in November 2011 for Chinese Communist elites — including a "secret" meeting with then Vice President Joe Biden himself.

The emails cited are conveniently not those of Hunter Biden and they include discussions of details sourced to Chinese communists by Cooney and Archer. Inconveniently, Breitbart admits that the White House visitors log contains no entries regarding any such meetings. Perhaps a look-see of pertinent Gmail metadata is also in order here.

Yancey, I have no idea what study you are talking about. Maybe you could link it. I started to read your screed in the last thread but stopped at this ridiculous statement:

Again, for the last fucking time- masks have been mandated in all of Europe since Spring- reinforced several times in those countries since then- it didn't stop the second wave at all.

So you know exactly what happened in the other universe where mask mandates were never ordered in Europe? Where, BTW, Norway and Denmark both had far lower per capita death rates than Sweden? Because I can tell you know that this kind of knowledge you profess would be extremely valuable to science. You could be like Babs in On a Clear Day, you could tell scientists exactly what happened in the other universe at various levels of CO2 and settle that argument once and for all, you could avoid all kinds of catastrophes for the human race with your ability to tune into alternate universes and let us know the effects of major decisions we have mede!

I don’t know what the point of that sarcasm is, you probably can’t even understand it. This problem is actually written up in certain journals I used to have to read for my old job. The one where I designed software for statistical trend analysis to identify problems You know what the answer is? It boils down to “you just have to make a guess, you can never know, here is the guess we usually make...” Well nobody has the experience with COVID-19 to make an informed guess, even. Sorry, does that make your head hurt saying stuff you don’t agree with in words that it’s hard for you to understand? Does that amount to “shouting”? Since we can’t know, we look at other countries that have tried the things we hypothesize may work.

It’s funny that you dismiss as outliers any country that seems to disprove your point. Japan and South Korea I have talked about, Singapore (deaths per million: 5) Let’s see, if I can find a country where masks are not considered the mark of the beast where death rates are high.... Taiwan? Nope, deaths per million: 0.3. I tell you what, you find the country where masks are accepted that still has a European style rate of infection. It’s about culture, your opposition to masks is cultural, not logical, and certainly not based in the scientific method.

@Maybee, you might notice that probably 95%+ of my comments regarding masks are made to refute misleading sometimes, but usually downright false statements about whether masks work or not. In real life, the only time I make a comment to someone in a store who is not wearing a mask is when they are also standing right behind me in a line. I say, either wear a mask or keep your distance. Because my experience is that the same people who don’t like to wear masks, also seem to like to push the social distancing boundaries because this virus is all a hoax, I guess. The alternative is to let people continue to make false statements without pushback so that everybody falls into a belief that one of the few things, along with hand washing obviously, that we can do that doesn’t cost much, and that avoids lockdowns, doesn’t work.

tim in vermont said...

Sorry, I couldn’t see on my monitor that your post was hyperlinked.

I have long said that I would accept the results of the Denmark study, as long as it holds up and seems statistically valid. I have been curious myself why it hasn’t been published yet. But there are servers that accept pre-prints, even medical ones. He could publish it and everybody could look at it, and we could discuss it.

Right now it’s not in the evidence, when the evidence changes, I change my mind, what do you do? Some studies like this regarding the flu have found no statistically significant effect, but that is based on having too small a number of actual cases either way to get a statistically valid sample. Let him print his results, although I know that innuendo is your stock and trade.

tim in vermont said...

I would also be very interested to know how that Danish study managed to tease out the factor of transmission of the virus to others. Even with aggressive contact tracing, how are you going to know where the person spread the virus in public spaces without ChiCom style universal surveillance? Preventing the spread from sick people is the primary justification for masks, since, as we all know, people who don’t know they are sick can still spread the virus.

wildswan said...

There's talk about "getting the culture back." One thing that may mean is developing various curriculums on the outside. Usually only a college develops a curriculum. But now there's need for published curriculums which could be used as a supplement for college students in the rotting humanities departments. These curriculums would demonstrate what a liberal education is. Hillsdale, for instance, has online courses on the Constitution. But I'm thinking of something more comprehensive - an outline of what a four year education would teach. And we need more than one because humanities courses in STEM would be more basic than in history or in than in a Great Books college. But if curriculums were developed then there could be an action plan to take back humanities departments, meaning by that to introduce a specific different curriculum. Or "English Departments" could be abolished to be replaced by European Studies, African Studies, First People Studies.

I fail to understand how anyone rational, no matter how much they dislike Trump, could think that putting the Democrats in power would be better for the country long-term. After what they did with the FBI and CIA against the Trump campaign and then the Trump administration, what the IRS did under Obama, the collusion of the media with the Democrats. The damage from those, and what the continuation of them will do, absolutely make any issues someone might have with health care, tax rates, etc. pale in comparison.

Anyone know why ConservativeTreeHouse (aka CTH) went dark?

He only has to hang on for a couple more weeks, then he can be assured that President Harris will make all the bad things go away.

gadfly cites a Russaigate figure who has “anonymous sources” at the FBI who are saying this doesn’t add up.

Great! The FBI can clear this up today! They have had it for a year! Biden can confidently deny the authenticity of the emails! Biden can come out of hiding! The long nightmare of the Biden Campaign ends today! Or the FBI can keep the drive hidden, as seems to be their strategy, and anonymous “leakers” can tell us anything they want.

Metadata is incredibly hard to fake, even for a state actor. If the FBI can state today that these are fakes, they owe it to the country to tell us that the Democrat candidate is not compromised by the ChiComs. My bet is they won’t. They would rather keep control of the story in the hands of the leakers, and have a hammer to use against the new POTUS, just like the ChiComs and probably everybody else has.

It’s funny how a web site called “The Raw Story” would be passing on info from a guy who no longer works in the government passing one what anonymous people are purported to be saying.

But that’s good enough for gadfly!

"since, as we all know, people who don’t know they are sick can still spread the virus.”

And if masks are not that effective at preventing healthy people getting sick when exposed to sick people, then it is that much more important that people who are exhaling virus unknowingly are wearing a mask.

Could someone tell me surgeons do not wear the bandana masks when performing surgery? Surely they are the most comfortable.

Limbaugh says he always carries a roll of twenties for tips. That is the only reason I carry cash, though usually it’s singles and fives, not being in Limbaugh’s league.

You have placed your faith in the infrastructure, that experience says its misplaced.

Unfortunately, I have run into multiple instances of infrastructure failure. Electricity, and or internet specifically. The derecho storm that ripped through the midwest August 10th, cut power to a wide area were I live. Knowing what was in front of me, I headed 25 miles north to get Spare chainsaw chains, and other miscellaneous items of need. Found stores open but no electricity. Cash is king, sales negotiated and needs fulfilled. I always have $50 to $100 in pocket, and each vehicle has $100 in small bills. (another $2 to $4thousand locked up in the house, haven't counted in a while)
Cash moves the ball, when nothing else will.

Can the covid virus be aerosolized? This is kind of important when speaking of masks.

BTW, Norway and Denmark both had far lower per capita death rates than Sweden

Stay tuned. This is changing day by day as Sweden's death rate has fallen to almost zero while Europe is experiencing a significant second wave.

CTH is OK. There is video of the Trump caravan in Newport Beach yesterday. My son and his kids were there and posted video.

No doubt some were assaulted while returning to their vehicle, as assault at or after
any pro Trump event is a leftist staple. Always has been and always will be.

Nope it was Newport Beach, which is redder than Texas. My son and his kids were there and took video.

You "stay tuned’ too as Sweden's cases are climbing steadily and rapidly. They started climbing a month ago. I always assume that I could be wrong and I don’t want to be defending a position that is in error, therefore I keep an eye on the stuff you guys bring up. I read all of it. That’s why I read that laughable “Dry Tinder” paper which completely ignored that death rates under seventy were also ten times higher in Sweden.

"Can the covid virus be aerosolized? This is kind of important when speaking of masks.”

We detected coronavirus in respiratory droplets and aerosols in 3 of 10 (30%) and 4 of 10 (40%) of the samples collected without face masks, respectively, but did not detect any virus in respiratory droplets or aerosols collected from participants wearing face masks

Tim, what are you going to write when the Danish study is released and shows masks are worthless in stopping COVID? The co-author basically told you this when he wrote that they are having a hard time finding anyone to publish the paper- they have had the results for over two months now.

Yancey Ward said...

"so you know exactly what happened in the other universe where mask mandates were never ordered in Europe?"

I don't need to know, Tim- I can fucking look at the goddamned graphs of what happened when masks were mandated- there is no signal to indicate they have any effect whatsoever- literally none. I can see what happens where masks are mandated and where they are not- there is no detectable differences. Locking people in their homes is the only thing that seems to have slowed the spread of COVID, but this was never going to extinguish it, and we see exactly that- once you lift the lockdowns, the virus is just waiting to spread again.

Get over it- masks don't work. No one is telling you to not wear your mask- you are free to do whatever it is that you want in this regard- just keep your fucking hands off of my face.

tim in vermont said...

" don't need to know, Tim- I can fucking look at the goddamned graphs of what happened when masks were mandated- there is no signal to indicate they have any effect whatsoever- literally none.”

Statisticians who look at all of the numbers disagree with your assessment of a few cherry picked graphs you probably got from Sarah Hoyt. Maybe if you linked to a rigorous study.

tim in vermont said...

"The co-author basically told you this...”

No. The co-author “basically told me" that some of his colleagues were uncomfortable publishing it until it went through peer review. And the design of the study can’t really address the issue of slowing the spread from infected people who don’t know they are sick, as far as I can see. Maybe it does, let’s see it. It could just as easily have found a lack of statistical significance due to the low number of cases encountered. Let’s see it. Don’t get me wrong, I think they should publish, even if journals refuse to touch it.

This is what I mean about you just looking for support for your pre-existing views.

tim in vermont said...

It is very convenient for you to rule out as “outliers” results from countries where masks are considered non-controversial and where per-capita deaths are two orders of magnitude lower than Sweden, coincidentally countries where average IQ is somewhat higher than here. It’s possible that what looks like a mask effect is really an IQ effect. I am beginning to suspect that it might be.

Trump is known as a generous tipper and is reputed to always have cash to do that. If it was me in church, I would worry if I was giving enough, or giving too much and have people say I was showing off.
