Trump is the Master of all space, time and dimension!!!
Well, not really.
But, if you strip away all the hyperbole, and irrational DJT hatred, and look at his record, it's pretty damn good. Foreign policy - no wars in Arab countries and many peace deals in the Middle East
Domestically, the economy was roaring until the viral mania and stupid lockdowns hit. But we're bouncing back.
Just a reminder: 27 years ago, Ruth Bader Ginsburg was confirmed 96-3. Even though it was clear that she was committed to "liberal" jurisprudence. Because all Republicans (except 3) realized that she had a background and character to warrant her elevation to the Supreme Court. But with ACB, not one single Democrat was willing to vote for her on the basis that she had a background and character to warrant her elevation to the Supreme Court. We have to go back to Scalia in 1986 to find an instance where Democrats were willing to confirm a justice who was committed to "conservative" jurisprudence.
I can only imagine the spittle-flecked rage of the FakeCon, leftist funded and now fully marxist aligned NeverTrump grifters at The Bulwark, The Dispatch (Hayes, Goldberg, French), Lincoln Project, etc.
As Julie Kelly wrote recently, regardless of the outcome of the election in 1 week, NeverTrump grifters will find themselves wandering in the wilderness, never welcomed again in the conservative/populist republican party and no longer needed nor welcomed in the marxist democratical/LLR-lefty party.
It will be fun to watch what happens when the lefty billionaire money runs out on these morons and there is no one left to fleece.
Just think. If notorious RBG had resigned when she was first diagnosed with cancer all this would be irrelevant. The Court would be 5-4, the Dems could roll the Chief Justice with ....... something. At the end of the day she had no idea what her big ego would cause.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said that the confirmation of Barrett “will go down as one of the darkest days in the 231-year history of the United States Senate.”
Despite the fact that she may well be at least the third sexual predator put on this court by Republicans, I think Schumer's assertion is debatable.
Trump's re-elected. Then in late 2022 both Alito and Thomas come to him, offering their resignations provided he nominates two originalists who would be in their 40s. The Senate confirms them.
Bob Smith @7:43 PM: that's what I've been saying. If RBG hadn't been so selfish she could have ensured a liberal replacement for "her seat" on the Supreme Court.

And might have led to some arab nations agreeing to peace with Israel see as the US really is the strong horse under Trump.
And maybe we will be on the road to straiten out this country.
Trump is not the end... we have a long road. But his presidency is a hell of a good start. As Churchill said, "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

29 years ago, September 1991 - I remember it well. I was in the hospital (crisis pregnancy), praying that my twin babies would make it to the magical "32" weeks. Back then, there was nothing to do except watch TV - and I watched the Thomas hearings religiously.
Tonight is a big Fuck You to Biden for what he did to Thomas. A big Fuck You to Anita Hill who clearly was trying to cover up for her incompetence and her false stories about "why" she "left" DOJ (when she desperately wanted to follow Thomas).
Anita Hill???? ACB is as much your pitiful legacy as RBG.
Bob Smith: "Just think. If notorious RBG had resigned..." In addition, if the Ds hadn't torpedoed Robert Bork, who died in 2012, he would have been replaced by Obama. Instead, Kennedy was confirmed and his replacement was Kavanaugh in 2018. They'd have a 6-3 majority now.
Watching Trump watch her brilliant speech was a great moment. He really was enamored by her mind and her spirit. I haven’t seen him so taken by anyone in DC.
Trump was essential to this victory, but he couldn't do it alone. He needed a Republican majority in the Senate. I know some of the Trumpists who comment here like making fun of "cuck republicans" and treat Trump as an heroic figure who can "do it alone". But he CAN'T! Justice Barrett needed a majority in the Senate, and the Senate needed a Republican majority to do it. Even Romney voted AYE! Sure, Susan Collins voted NO, but if she's defeated for re-election, do you think her Democrat successor would vote to confirm? If I were unfortunate enough to live in Maine (46 degrees and showers in Bangor right now), I'd vote for her. I say, Vote Republican for every federal office: President and VP, Senator, Congresscritter. Two years ago, Trump supporters stayed home, and the House went back to Pelosiland. Remember how much fun that was? Vote the straight ticket!
I remember Molly Yard lamenting that the Republic was doomed when a certain Republican nominee was confirmed. She was truly despondent and really hysterical. It was the end of all rights for women and Blacks. The absolute end.
A black Justice swearing in his former clerk, a woman with 7 children including 2 adopted black orphans and one with special needs ought to be a cause for celebration of how far we've come as a nation. I won't hold my breath.
Don't worry about Collins. Her vote was not needed and apparently she needs to finesse this to try to get re-elected. She's a squish but she's been a consistent vote on the other judges. She's half a loaf.
gspencer said... Susan Collins gave a NO this week. Next Tuesday she gets her NO from the voters.
Don't be a moron
When it mattered, with Kavanaugh, Susan was the deciding vote that got him confirmed.
Right now, her vote on this case doesn't matter. She's from a State taht will not be voting for Trump. If she wants to win, she needs Trump opponents supporting her.
The trouble with Collins is... every Senate seat counts. So even though I feel that she had no good justification for her No vote, I hope she wins reelection.
I was disappointed that Kirsten Sinema decided to vote "no". I thought she had a real opportunity to declare "I really am a moderate." i assume the part pressure was pretty high. Plus if she wants a bigger and brighter future in the Democratic Party this was not the vote to be a Maverick.
320Busdriver said... It’s amazing to me that friends and even family in my orbit, many who I believe are decent people, are voting not for Biden, but AGAINST Trump. I truly question their reasoning abilities. But I am being kind when I say that.
People will do what they will do. I will never get my dear mother to vote for the President. Just not worth going into - irrational.
But with application maybe I can get her to go third party (if any is on the NY ballot) or leave the top line blank.
Best I can do. Need more conclusive evidence about Hunter and Joe's corruption.
Don't be (too) hard on Collins. She may have been given a pass here by the other Repub Senators to help her have a chance to win re-election. If she loses, it is because of her Kavanaugh vote. The Dems are outspending her based on her very principled vote for Kavanaugh
Cut Susan Collins some slack; she was wonderful at the Kavanaugh Clambake; her speech may have shamed some of the Democrat kids into silence. And she's got a tough row to hoe in Maine this time around. I won't cut Pierre Delicto any slack--he voted for Barrett---but didn't vote for Trump.
And the BJ queen is upse--tough noogies to her and to Chuck You Schumer--with maybe an even more special shout out to the way Da Nang Dick Blumenthal made a clown of himself today.
I saw a bunch of children having hissy fits. "Hell, no" from the woman in Hawaii who asked ACB if she ever sexually assaulted anybody?? I guess if ACB did, Maizie would have been an AYE???
Again...if RGB retired under Obama, like she should have instead of waiting for the inevitability of Hillary, we wouldn't be in this position. Actions have consequences. Elections have consequences. I'm waiting for the riots.
Susan Collins has placed her bet, she votes NO on ACB, supposedly on principle, in an attempt to firm up support for re-election. This is to combat the accusations from her Senate opponent, Sara Gideon, that Collins is in the pocket of Donald J. Trump. I expect this play will backfire. There's not a lot of love for Gideon that I'm hearing, but with this vote Collins is giving voters the ability to say, there's no difference between the two so I'll give Gideon a try. Collins would be better served by defending her record and how her votes have benefited the state of Maine and its people, regardless of whether those votes aligned with or against Trump.
This is why I voted for Trump. I also like it very much that the Ivy League chokehold has been broken. There are lots of good schools besides Harvard and Yale and it's time for qualified people from those other schools (and with real world experience) to have a shot at the SC.
stevew: "There's not a lot of love for Gideon that I'm hearing, but with this vote Collins is giving voters the ability to say, there's no difference between the two so I'll give Gideon a try. I don't think this is correct.
Collins and the republicans have conducted detailed polling across Maine and I suspect that this "no" vote, an obviously calculated one, was determined to be the best overall course of action for her.
Given her long history in Maine and how Collins is sort of the prototypoical "Maine" woman, republicans there will still vote for her and now she can't be reamed for voting "yes", so she might get just enough independents to pull it off again.
When it mattered most, on Kavanaugh, Collins was there.
Not to mention that republicans in Maine know fully what the democraticals and their pro-antifa LLR-lefties have in store for all of us should they ever regain power.
Phil 314: "I was disappointed that Kirsten Sinema decided to vote "no"."
You've got to be kidding.
Every single democrat will always stick with the far left/LLR-left on every key issue. This idea that these supposedly "moderate" or purple state dems will ever do the right thing when it actually matters is a classic self-delusion of the establishment loser republicans.
Ruth Bader rolled the dice and lost. She wanted to stagger through till at least December 2020, and then give the seat to Joe Biden. And....she almost made it.
I'm glad McConnell pushed ACB in time, but even when I like what they're doing the Pompous, lazy, windbag, Senators annoy the fuck out of me. Oh, they "raced" through the confirmation. Oh, they did it in ONLY 30 days. Look, these goofs aren't writing a piece of legislation, they're only voting up or down on a nominee. There's no reason, every single Senator has to meet the judge and talk to her. OR have 4 days of hearings, OR have endless boring floor speeches.
What makes it even more tiresome is that 47 D's were going to vote against ACB the day she was announced. And they were going to vote against her, no matter what she said or did. The only "Swing vote" with the D's is "Fake WV Joe". As for the R's the only question was whether Romney would stab us in the back or not. Once he got on board, it didn't matter what the RINO sisters did.
Graham said something that really bugged me. He said "This is why we run for office, this makes all the nonsense worth it". No Senator, your job is to write legislation, and represent your state. Its the POTUS' job to appoint Judges. Except you and all the other Senators want to spend your time on a simply Yes or No vote. Because its easy.

Drago is right, and you are wrong.
There is a WORLD of difference between the two. Gideon will vote for Court Packing, and Collins won't. Since 2/3 of Americans oppose Court Packing, that a winning issue for Collins. She's in a State that's going to vote against Trump. She was the deciding vote for Kavanaugh. She voted for Gorsuch. She voted to nuke the filibuster when the Democrats filibustered Gorsuch. She voted agains the shame impeachment of Trump.
So if you're a "Republican" saying "I don't see any reason to vote for Collins", you a historical ignoramus, and a moron.
Voting no on a candidate who will win anyway is a bone she can throw to idiot "moderates" who are going to throw their State to Biden. I've yet to see any reason why anyone not a LLR lefty troll has a problem with than

Again - this all happened because Ruth didn't step down during Obama. She wanted Bill's wife to do the honors - then when that went bust - Ruth tired to outlive it all. Cancer and old age said "no"
Add to that Harry Reid's filibuster busting - and here we all.

1: Trump waited until after RGB's funeral before announcing ACB. Probably politically wise (not the way I would have done it). 2: Dems seriously shot themselves in the foot fighting Kavanaugh. The GOP was hoping they'd do the same with ACB, and so gave them plenty of rope to hang themselves 3: Instead, the Dems held their fire, and now a majority of voters favors confirming ACB. So, still a win 4: Senate Dems did their jobs, and used every procedural hurdle to slow down the confirmation
Or only loss was Roberts got to be an a$$hole on PA. However, we're getting a second bite at that apple, with ACB on the Court.
So, other than a compulsive desire to whine, what's your problem?
A black Justice swearing in his former clerk, a woman with 7 children including 2 adopted black orphans and one with special needs ought to be a cause for celebration of how far we've come as a nation.
"Identity" and its politics being more important than competence, or being important at all, is not a good place to be.
Drago: I hope you are correct and I am wrong. My thinking is that she has endangered & alienated some of her support for no gain. Conservatives and Republicans are quite unlikely to vote for Gideon, I agree, but they might not vote for Collins because of this. Maybe she wins some Democrat votes - that guy down the street with the Biden/Harris and Collins signs in his yard for example.
I will vote for Collins even though I am unhappy she took this approach on ACB. FiveThirtyEight has Gideon up +7 among likely voters as of 10/16.

Yes, a democrat or two will join with republicans on votes where the vote of that individual democrat makes no difference to the outcome.
PJ said... So, Roberts replaces Ginsburg, and Barrett replaces Roberts.
I don't think so.
Roberts' claimed big thing was / is "the dignity of the Court."
6-3 rulings for the written Constitution are a lot more "dignity preserving" than 5-4 votes. So I think we're going to get a lot of gun rights, vote protection (you're stealing MY voting rights every time you allow a fraudulent vote) votes go the right way 6-3, where if RGB were still on the Court they would have gone 5-4 the other way.
Out first test is the new PA challenge. If it goes 6-3 against the PA SC rewriting election law, that's strong evidence I'm right.
Also if it goes 5-4 in favor of the PA SC, with Kavanaugh defecting as well..
OTOH, a 5-4 against the PA SC with Roberts on the wrong side would indicate yeah, he's going to be the new RGB
It's a happy day for conservatives! I'd be dancing in the streets but for the fact I live in the Portland area and the streets are reserved for Antifa.
Earnest Prole said... Every single democrat will always stick with the far left/LLR-left on every key issue.*
* Except when the Democrat is Joe Manchin and the Supreme Court nominee is Brett Kavanaugh or Neil Gorsuch.
Quick IQ test / history question: What would have happened if Manchin reversed his vote on those two?
Answer? The result would have been exactly the same. They both would have been confirmed.
Manchin waited until Collins announced that she was voting for Kavanaugh before he said the same. Because if she'd announced that she was voting no, Manchin would have done the same, and Kavanaugh would have lost.
Since it wasn't a "key issue", he voted with his constituents, rather than his Party.
Same way Collins voted against ACB: The vote didn't matter, so she voted with her constituents, rather than her Party.
Identify ANY vote in the last 20 years where the GOP won on an issue because Democrats voted with the GOP, and against their Party leadership.
What's that Earnest Prole? You don't have a single example?
What's closest to one is abortion in ObamaCare.
In the House, ~12 "pro-life" Democrats voted with a solid GOP to impose a "no abortion funding" rule on ObamaCare.
The same rule lost in the Senate
Once Scott Brown was elected to the Senate, those "pro-life" Democrats were given a choice: they could either vote for ObamaCare with funding for abortion (completely nuking any shred of a claim to being pro-life), or they could kill ObamaCare.
So ~6 of them switched their votes, and passed ObamaCare.
Because it doesn't matter, at all, what a Democrat politician claims to believe in. The only thing they actually believe in is power for the Democrats, and for themselves.

Not possible. I heard that Chuck Schumer had lots and lots of strategies to stop this.
4 more years years Trump, 4 decades for Barrett.
Good. She will be an ornament to the Court. Unlike the "wise Latina."
Althouse must be super excited that a woman has been confirmed to the USSC!
Grrl power!
Whats this I see? A GOP with a backbone?
Will miracles never cease?
Yippee!
Exceptionally qualified. Democrats are power-hungry assholes
So, Roberts replaces Ginsburg, and Barrett replaces Roberts.

Susan Collins voted no, along with every Democrat.
Every newspaper and MSM outlet can be counted on using the phrase "despite bipartisan opposition" tomorrow.
For reference, when as many as 8 or 9 Democrats switch sides, that's called a "largely party line vote".

This was the number 1 reason I voted for Trump. He put forqard his list of prospects, and he has stuck to his promise.
No other swamp politician has the guts to do this.
Vote Trump, 2020, for more winning!

This is an unpaid political statement.
I remember Molly Yard lamenting that the Republic was doomed when a certain Republican nominee was confirmed. She was truly despondent and really hysterical. It was the end of all rights for women and Blacks. The absolute end.
That nominee was ...
David Souter.
If the POS NeverTrumpers and AntiTrumpers had their way, under President Hillary, we would have had three Wise Latinas appointed.
You would think that they would be thankful at least for Trump's appointments. But, no. Of course not. They're POSes after all.
Big Mike, Barrett clerked for Scalia, not Thomas.
Pretty similar, though.

Which means throwing them a meaningless bone.
Sworn in by the Justice she once clerked for. Wonderful.
An achievement for her and her mentor. Wonderful, indeed.
Trump wins next week, Breyer retires, Trump & Cocaine Mitch get John Yoo confirmed during lame duck session of Senate.
I can dream, right?????????
Good luck Amy!
The trouble with Collins is... every Senate seat counts. So even though I feel that she had no good justification for her No vote, I hope she wins reelection.
A special shout-out to Chuck, Harry and RGB, unsung heroes whose hard work worked made this possible.
I was disappointed that Kirsten Sinema decided to vote "no". I thought she had a real opportunity to declare "I really am a moderate." i assume the part pressure was pretty high. Plus if she wants a bigger and brighter future in the Democratic Party this was not the vote to be a Maverick.
Apparently Pelosi had a quiver full of Nerf arrows.
Happy Birthday Hildabeast. ACB can't make the party, but at least you can have her share of the Chardonnay.
And God bless Clarence Thomas and that little poke in Biden's gimlet eye.

Thanks a bunch, Harry Reid -- we couldn't have done it without you.
So many Dem children showing "thumbs down" as they walked out. What petty, spiteful, pitiful excuses for humans.
Absolutely wonderful day in the home of the free and the land of the brave. Congrats Justice Amy!
A win for a return to normal after the last circus. Maybe we don't need Biden for the government to operate.
"we'll expand the court" says the party that couldn't stop her confirmation.
Again...if RGB retired under Obama, like she should have instead of waiting for the inevitability of Hillary
Yet another example of our betters, experts, exercising their superior powers of reasoning.
I'll continue to point out every time these so called educated elite, fail to reason themselves across a deserted road, in broad daylight, safely.
This week be a truly magnificent country when northeast Republicans act like real conservatives, not like dems that are afraid of a primary.
@Jim Gust, I realized my mistake and deleted that comment.
Saw great comment, a black supreme court justice swears in a female to be a supreme court justice and only Democrats are upset.
stevew: "There's not a lot of love for Gideon that I'm hearing, but with this vote Collins is giving voters the ability to say, there's no difference between the two so I'll give Gideon a try.
I look forward to a 2nd Amendment decision authored by Thomas or Barrett.

All I can say is I want more universal democrat party bad behavior karma and cumupance.
Amy is super smart and we are lucky to have her. the petty misogynists on the left tried to
smear her. didn't work.
Trump has done yeoman's labor in the midst of hyenas.
Win or lose, he fixed the Court.

1: Trump waited until after RGB's funeral before announcing ACB. Probably politically wise (not the way I would have done it).
2: Dems seriously shot themselves in the foot fighting Kavanaugh. The GOP was hoping they'd do the same with ACB, and so gave them plenty of rope to hang themselves
3: Instead, the Dems held their fire, and now a majority of voters favors confirming ACB. So, still a win
4: Senate Dems did their jobs, and used every procedural hurdle to slow down the confirmation
Or only loss was Roberts got to be an a$$hole on PA. However, we're getting a second bite at that apple, with ACB on the Court.
So, other than a compulsive desire to whine, what's your problem?

Thanks for playing.
So, Roberts replaces Ginsburg, and Barrett replaces Roberts.
Pretty much.

If I get pulled over and breathalyzed, I am sure to blow a 3.0, drunk as I am on bitter liberal tears.

Quick IQ test / history question:
What would have happened if Manchin reversed his vote on those two?
I'll wait
