The Republican Convention is off to a fast start.

Look, they've already nominated him and he's done his speech. Scroll to 1:32:45 for the speech. Did you know this wasn't going to be in prime time? Anyway... I listened to some of the speech — it seemed upbeat and got a lively reaction from the crowd:

Democrats: The Roll Call of the states was the best part of our convention!

Republicans: That won't even make it into our prime time.

Trump will be speaking every day I believe.

He is listed to speak on Thursday, and I am pretty sure it will be in prime time.

The people watching the RNC are generally going to want more of Trump, so him speaking every day makes considerable sense. There's a lot of ground to cover, and limiting it to a single prime-time speech isn't smart.

The big draw will be Big League Barron’s speech. A star is born.

Yes, Trump will speak every day, but I would wager that his first three are more inside baseball, so to speak. It's not meant to be "the Speech" of the convention or the keynote.

Today I think it's Kim Klasik who will likely be the highlight. Watching Democrats scream racist bigotry at her will no doubt drive yet another wedge between the left and the blacks (at least some of them).

There's very few things more racist than a white Democrat faced with a conservative black woman.

Diving right in and getting the work done is one of the defining differences between Trump and Democrats.

There’s no such thing as prime time anymore, now that we have have these newfangled interwebs, applications, TikToks, and whatnot. I hear they can arrive at our doorstep at any time through a series of tubes.

Wow. victoria thinks the democraticals are still having their convention!

And everyone knows it.

“Oh, and speaking of on fire, did you see the Democratic Convention? Oh man, that thing, how do you describe it? It’s like, did you ever tune into the Jerry Lewis telethon at like 2:00 in the morning? It was a lot like that"--Bill Maher

Last week: "Keep the candidate hidden and only let him speak in a brief prerecorded (and undoubtedly composited from several takes) speech because we're worried whether he can handle even that."

This week: "Our guy is speaking every day of the convention; this is unprecedented!"

Witness a study in contrasts.

They've already started!

A guy in the crowd yelled "Spygate" when Trump mentioned Obama. Someone else then yells "Sleepy Joe". And Trump laughs and says "Let's be nice. Biden".

This has turned into -- a guy in the crowd yelled "Monkey" after Trump said "Obama" and Trump laughed at that.
This has also turned into - a guy in the crowd yelled "Spygate!" but Trump obviously heard "monkey", which is why he laughed.

THis is a thing celebrities are tweeting about. Because they are not insane.

Having an audience is everything. It's why the return of sports has been such a letdown - there's no energy in the building.

Did you just wake up after watching the Democrat Convention?? Start watching some excitement, instead of going back to sleep!!!

Vance,

Or a conservative black man, but we have to take intersectionality into account. Because there are very few things more sexist than a white Democrat faced with a conservative woman.

Biden reads a 20-minute text written by a committee of others.

We have already had our first "official" lefty/dem/LLR-lefty big time hoax leveled against the republicans.

LLR-lefty Chuck's pals at the Lincoln Project (Lincoln being the guy the left seeks to cancel now with LLR-lefty approval) took a page from LLR-lefty Chuck's smear campaign at Althouse blog to falsely claim someone yelled "monkey" after Trump mentioned obama during this morning's speech by Trump.

It was, of course, an easily debunked lie like most of LLR-lefty Chuck's lies at Althouse blog. Even lefty media people, realizing that having the far left LLR-lefties on their side is more of a hindrance than a help, quickly jumped in to set the record straight.

The attendee yelled "spygate" and "sleepy Joe".

So, LLR-lefty Chuck and his pals are off to an inauspicious beginning in the how many hoaxes can we generate contest with their lefty media brethren.

Up your game Chuck!

Whitmer and the corrupt democrat election officials in Detroit are counting on you!

When one ponders just how moronic some lefties can be, one must always recall that when Crack Emcee said whites invented slavery, murder, rape and lying and had practiced it for 300 years before any other race copied them, r/v agreed with him and cheered him on.

Context.

Your lies are becoming every bit as pathetic and transparent as your co-lefty LLR-lefty Chuck.

"Democratic Edge in Party Affiliation Shrinks"

https://news.gallup.com/poll/317771/democratic-edge-party-affiliation-shrinks.aspx

Democrats hold six-point edge, 48% to 42%
Down from 11 points in June

How is that possible r/v?

Oh, that's right. Like all your other hoaxes this is just another lie.

I hadn’t even posted a comment on this page — this moderated comments page — and we se Drago going full-batshit.

Althouse thinks this was an “upbeat” talk?!? It was largely Trump proclaiming that everything that his fans hold dear to their hearts will go straight to hell unless he is re-elected.

Look at the Twitter feed of Aaron Rupar of Vox for a relentless real-time Fisking of this bit of Trumprage.

I didn't hear Trump's segment yet, but I'm willing to go out on a limb and say it will be, as are all things Trump, a Rorschach test for his opponents. Those who believe he's Literally Hitler will hear fascism; those who believe he's demented will hear dementia; those who believe he's a sociopathic billionaire (or a sociopathic millionaire who's lying by claiming he's a billionaire) will hear gaslighting; those who believe he's a pathological list will hear lies.

None will be able to back up their claims, but they'll be unshakeable in their conviction. And they'll miss the fact that Trump is (again!) running a positive campaign, something voters usually like a whole lot better than misery campaigns.

There is not a single one who actually voted for Trump in 2016 that is switching to the dems.

Not. One.

And no, LLR-lefty Chuck's lies about voting for Trump are obviously that, lies.

Just to be clear, Althouse; as I now understand it, the Republican Convention is over. Officially adjourned. You might characterize it as “off to a fast start,” but in fact it has started, they nominated Trump, he accepted the nomination, and then they adjourned. It is over; all except for a week-long Fox News infomercial to fill already-scheduled tv time. There is no platform to debate or to vote on. No other business to conduct.

I am surprised that Michael Steele would join the Lincoln Project.

I wonder what his real reasons are. Based on his past history, he should be ecstatic on what Trump has done.

So far I've seen Trump's speech which was interesting. He made definite statements about Dem cheating by vote harvesting and by sending out absentee ballots. He also mentioned 12 more years, which I hope sends the Dems into convulsions a slug with salt on it. Then he discussed the current economy which is stronger than I realized. I also listened to Kim Klacik and Herschel Walker, one on Dem control of and destruction of the big cities, the other on his friendship with Trump. It was a good start, far more interesting than the Dems. The US has a lot to do, much of it new, like China, covid and fixing the big cities. To be fair, the Dems had more than their same old job killing policies. They did have two new job killers - covid lockdowns and burning out the centers of cities. But it wasn't interesting to listen to the Dems hoping to smash America, it was chilling and boring at the same time, like sitting in a third grade class held in a parking lot in late October and doing doing the multiplication tables - which, by the way, is another new Democratic policy.

Chuck, one adjourns a convention nightly, to resume in the morning. This allows the convention hall to be swept, the bathrooms to be cleaned, and the conventioneers to get a nice dinner and some sleep before resuming their toils.

And the work of the RNC convention isn't just nomination of the candidate. It includes bashing the hell out of Sleepy Joe Biden and his Democratic Party of riots, marxists and evil clowns. That could take days and days to do thoroughly, the Democratic Party is so far down the sewer.
