"My beautiful, beautiful fifth Avenue in New York has been looted in pillage. It was allowed to happen..."

"... by an incompetent mayor that doesn’t have a clue. Look at what’s happened to our diamond. New York was a diamond for the country. Look how far it’s gone down. And Chicago, the mayor literally raised up the drawbridges to prevent hordes of rioters from ransacking the city. Can you believe it? Can you believe it? 17 officers were injured in Chicago... during a weekend spree where 78 people were shot and 18 died. That’s worse than Afghanistan, which we’re getting out of. That’s worse than Iraq, which we’re almost out of. That’s worse than Syria, which we’re out of, except we kept the oil, but that’s okay. We don’t have to talk about that. But this is the future that Joe Biden plans to bring to every city, town, and suburb in our nation. And you know, for those suburbs, I keep hearing about suburban women. I made the … Oh. Well, in one speech recently, I called you suburban housewives and they all loved it, but what I got, they said, 'Sir, I don’t know if that’s politically correct.' I said, 'Don’t worry about it. They’ll get over it.' Right? But we saved the suburbs. The suburbs, and you know what I’m talking about. And they said about the rule, it’s a rule. Very strong. It’s like a law. They said, 'Sir, we can amend it.' I said, 'No, I don’t want it amended.' 'No, we can really amend it. Bring it down.' 'No, I don’t want it. I want it terminated.' And we terminated it. It’s gone. And it’ll be re-instituted if Joe Biden comes in."

Said Donald Trump in Oshkosh yesterday. Transcript. He was in Wisconsin, doing a speech, getting the jump on the Democrats, who were supposed to be in Wisconsin for the first day of their convention. Trump seemed to have something of a rally going. How did that happen? It grabs your attention, his rally style.

As for the Democrats' speech last night... well, I don't know. I don't listen to anything political in the evenings. It's not how I furnish my brain. But I did read enough of the transcript of Michelle Obama's speech to know she said "You know I hate politics."
Now, I understand that my message won't be heard by some people. We live in a nation that is deeply divided, and I am a Black woman speaking at the Democratic Convention. But enough of you know me by now. You know that I tell you exactly what I'm feeling. You know I hate politics. But you also know that I care about this nation. You know how much I care about all of our children....
You know I hate politics too!

Did she also say "You know I'm setting up for a 2024 campaign against one of the Trump children, because you know the doddering old fool I'm introducing will find a way to lose"?

This is my favorite line by you so far "It's not how I furnish my brain.' It ranks in my top ten of personal declarations by anyone. Very nice.

Friends that have lived there for years are buying guns!! They don't feel safe walking outside of their apartment building anymore. Homeless camps are popping up everywhere, little antifas running wild in the city beating people up, whilst the Democrats twiddle their thumbs. Squad member Ayanna Pressley says we need more UNREST in the streets....I think it's time for protesters to go and burn HER house down (she's a NYer) and see how she feels about it THEN?? So sick of the left praising and pushing the violence...and then blaming it on Trump and his supporters, when it is always THEM. WAKE THE HELL UP!!!

If she hates politics so much...she shouldn't have lied, and blamed Trump for putting kids in the cages her HUSBAND had built and used....So sick of their lies and blame.

She talked about the “chaos”, which Trump created. But who created it?

"Politics" encompasses persuasion, compromise, deference to established rights.

He who says he is tearing up his prepared address to talk to you extemporaneously about what it is like to address you or what it is like to write talks, or to formulate sentences in the first place, has torn up the wrong prepared address.

Admittedly, I dislike Cardi B., Hillary Clinton, and Beyonce. But as much as I loathe their brand of politics, I have to admit that they are independent women with some measure of skill at their true callings (being a ho, crime lord, and black supremacist mega-celebrity respectively).

Michelle Obama is the most famous affirmative action recipient in the country, even more so than her husband, yet she has no talent- not even one like being able to be consistently pleasant. If she could stay out of scowl-face mode she absolutely would have been VP, just because every single Democrat with power would beg her to take up the mantle.

She hates politics, huh? How does she think she got her cush, no-show job at the hospital before 2008? One word: politics.

You know I hate politics.

Maybe. But I bet you enjoy the fruits of it. Like a trust-fund kid who eagerly accepts the money while disparaging the means by which it was made.

But you also know that I care about this nation.

No, I didn’t know that. I do know you’re not proud of it unless its heaping adulation on your husband and putting you in the East Wing.

Oh bullshit! You LOVE it. All of the play by play and the analysis and the commentary and the OED-parsing and the Clinton-parsing and the judgement of it all...

You LOOOOOVVVVVEEEE IT!

Sorry about this comment, but with the moderation on, this blog is becoming about as entertaining as a Democrat convention.

The Dems keep talking about unifying the country. But under Dem rule, it is rioting and looting. And a wrecked economy due to the Green New Deal. No cops. No thank you.

But this is the future that Joe Biden plans to bring to every city, town, and suburb in our nation

Trump is wrong here. Joe Biden is a man who in thirteen years of primary education mustered a c-plus average only because he was spry in gym and now at 77 years of age is demonstrably suffering from an undiagnosed form of geriatric impairment that would force a common man to surrender his driver's license.

Joe's job is to stand in while the handlers drag this mess across the finish line so another impaired geriatric can fulfill his whimsical vision of America as just another European socialist backwater.

...and by the looks of things, they just might pull it off...

Michelle made it very clear early on that she did not like this country...until her husband got elected. Michelle has never shown an understanding for this country. She thinks along the lines of the 1619 Project- that is- we're all just racists and should be put away. Everything is about race. Even her comment, "...and I am a Black woman...". As if half the country won't listen to her because of the color of her skin.

It's not the color of her skin. It's the color of her thinking. There are a ton of Black women the other half of the country would be willing to listen to. Those of a more Conservative bent. Here's one...for instance, that the country should be listening to: Kimberly Klacik.

Trump is right. How do the cities recover? It’s almost a blessing, even though it’s a crime, that all the Summer festivals in Milwaukee are canceled this year. There would be protests at Summerfest that would turn violent. It’s sad. Downtown Milwaukee was a blast. People from Waukesha Country drop a lot of money there. When I go out and talk to people everyone says their done with Milwaukee. It’s not going to be safe to party there for a long time.

I listened to as much as I could of Michelle Obama's speech. Her use of the breaking voice to express emotion reminded me of other emotional manipulators I've had the misfortune to deal with in my life. It's the tactic used after rage and intimidation don't work.

He’s right and I along with millions of others see through these evil little games the Dems are playing.

They’re not nearly as clever as they think they are. They never are.

Jeff Brokaw said...

Why must they be so toxic, and even more important, why are so many people drawn to that?

It’s like “America Last” and “We Suck” 24x7x365. Who needs that?

Not good for one’s mental and emotional health.

I can't stand politicians, and I can imagine feeling hateful towards the state of our politics. If that's what's intended, fine. But to eschew politics more broadly, to claim to hate it, is like saying you hate humanity, for politics is how we organize more than a tiny group.

daskol said...

I caught some of her speech, and she's one of those politicians I can't stand. Her delivery is good, seemingly sincere, and the content is whatever she's told to say to help the party (except apparently praising Kamala Harris is a bridge too far for Michelle).

Overworked
If you were unfortunate to be in Day Off Group 63, as of Sunday:

you hadn't had a day off since 06 August;
you worked eleven days in a row;
all at least 12-hour shifts or more

That included an 84-hour work week between 09 and 15 August. No one works an 84-hour work week, let alone 132 hours in eleven days and not suffer from a massive physical (and mental) toll.

But there's Groot in her armored Tahoe, berating cops for leaning on posts or sitting on concrete in the dead of night.
