Did Scott Walker hang up on Anderson Cooper?

While Cooper was asking and answering his own question Scott figured he go make a sandwich.

I hope Walker hung up on him, he deserved it. Copper says Trump hasn't even commented on Blake and then goes into this endlessly soliloquy on why he shouldn't comment yet. What the hell?

D.D. Driver said...

LOL. He totally did. But it wssn't a "tough question" it was Mr. Vanderbilt making a long, boring, sanctimonious speech. Any right-minded viewer should change the channel.

Michael K said...

I completely understand Walker shutting off the speech by Cooper who seemed to have lost interest in interviewing his guest.

First Tenor said...

That was a long wind-up. Was he actually going to throw the pitch?

mxgreen said...

It didn't really seem like such a tough question.

Todd said...

LOL! Treating Anderson with the respect he has earned!

Birches said...

Haha. Didn't seem like it was a tough question. Seemed like Cooper was doing a monologue and Waller got tired. I laughed because he didn't seem to hide the fact he was done.

Mary Beth said...

That wasn't a tough question. All he had to say was that he doesn't speak for the president and suggest that Trump does not want to comment on an investigation where facts are still coming out.

Not Sure said...

That wasn't a tough question, just an incredibly long-winded one that had nothing to do with Walker.

A perfect response, I'd say.

tcrosse said...

The trick to hanging up on someone is to do it mid-sentence, while you're talking.

James K said...

That wasn't a "tough question." AC was blathering on and never actually got to the question. But whether he meant to or not, he answered what would have been his question, by acknowledging that there was an ongoing investigation, and it would have been inappropriate for the President to comment, not that that every stopped Obama from making idiotic premature statements about local police matters.

Tools of revolution say: "Let's make this about Scott Walker! That worked before!"

meanwhile, let publish this:

The Fight for the Soul of the Democratic Party: The Enduring Legacy of Henry Wallace's Anti-Fascist, Anti-Racist Politics

Sounds balanced to me. I never knew Truman was a fascist, for one.

He did drop the bomb though, and Wallace would never have done that. We'd have sacrificed a couple million lives and then turned Japan over to Stalin. Think of it - we'd have entered utopia a half-century earlier, and we'd be singing the Internationale.

The corn would be as high as an elephant's eye.

And Poland would still be Communist.

Patrick said...

Looks like he was responsible for the disconnect, intentionally or not. The question wasn't particularly difficult, but it was fair.

rcocean said...

Why is Walker going on CNN anyway? they have no audience, and they spout nothing but lies and DNC propaganda. Walker probably - stupidly - thought he'd get "points" for taking "tough questions" and then realized he wasn't in an interview, he was just a Dummy being used by CNN for target practice.

These stupid Republcian NEVER learn.

Clues? said...

Oh, right, it’s a “tough question” that he stumbles through while answering himself: ongoing investigation. Furthermore, the initial video is “Exhibit A” for the cops that this was a justified shoot. Additional video has only corroborated that judgment.

rcocean said...

Meanwhile CNN is absolutely OK with Biden taking no questions of any kind, let alone tough questions, and hiding in his basement. Did Walker bring that up? 100-1 No.

Matt Sablan said...

Was it a question or was Cooper on a soapbox?

tim maguire said...

It wasn't a tough question, it was a BS quesiotn that actually disappeared under the weight of all of Cooper's caveats. That said, it does look like he turned off the video. He may have been trying to adjust something and accidently turned it off--that happens all the time in my office zoom meetings.

chuck said...

I can't take Anderson Cooper seriously, he looks down his nose and looks stuck up.

MayBee said...

It really wasn't a tough question.

It is weird how the Dems/media pick out one incident that the national attention span is supposed to turn to. Yesterday, Sen Coons was asking if Trump would announce at the convention that he has sympathy for Blake's family. And it's just weird that that's the one family they demand get attention in this nation right now. Why? Because they said so?

I'm constantly being cut-off the internet. I think the company is throttling. Maybe with the schools going virtual the net is overloaded. Anyhow, I sometimes get a signal that the net has dropped before I actually get cut-off because there is a buffer and I lean forward to restore before the signal drops. Perhaps that's what Walker was doing.

MayBee said...

If I had to guess,I would guess Cooper froze on Walker's end and he was trying to fix it? Maybe he hung up on Cooper, but it wasn't a tough question to answer.

Yancey Ward said...

Oh, Walker definitely hung up on him- all Cooper was doing was reclaiming his time, and Walker knew it. This is why I am not a politician- I would have given Cooper the finger before cutting it off.

Original Mike said...

Blogger Patrick said..."The question wasn't particularly difficult, but it was fair."

But Cooper answered the damn question for him. And Cooper was right!

John nichols that hack?

Related, police officials are asking Evers to shut his piehole until the investigation plays out.

hombre said...

Lefties are so used to politicizing matters under investigations that they no longer see it as inappropriate. It would not be accurate to say that no speakers at the RNC commented on “bad cops.”

I don’t remember anyone at the DNC commenting on the murder of David Dorn or any of the dozens of others killed or injured by “mostly peaceful protesters.” Do you, Professor? Professor?

iowan2 said...

I hope Walker will clear this up. I hope a hung up because Cooper was not interviewing his guest, Copper was pushing his personal narrative. That's fine, Coopers show, he can do as he pleases, but the guest does not have to allow themselves to be used as a prop.

I would be thrilled if conservatives would cut interviews off, when its clear the interviewer has no interest in their view.
To be fair Hannity is terrible at keeping his mouth shut, I dont watch or listen to him, for that reason.

Temujin said...

I didn't even hear a question. It sounded like a commentary. I think Scott Walker just got bored, as most people do, when they find themselves at an airport having to listen to CNN. Or, it was such a long, non-stop commentary, maybe Walker thought his portion was done and Anderson was already moving on with his talking points.

Or maybe he just didn't want to use another second of his time of life with either Anderson Cooper or CNN. Either way, it hardly bothers me. I suspect it does not bother anyone in the universe, except Anderson Cooper.

"These stupid Republicans NEVER learn."

Actually, I think that after four years of watching Trump do it, it is starting to dawn on at least some Republicans that showing a calculated contempt for Communists masquerading as neutral reporters can have some political advantages.

You go Scott! People need to hang up on this bloviating bozo more often.

Bilwick said...

Cooper was miffed. "Doesn't he realize who I am? Gloria Vanderbilt's son, and the prime lobber of softballs to Democrats! Let's have some respect here!"

Jupiter said...

"Yesterday, Sen Coons was asking if Trump would announce at the convention that he has sympathy for Blake's family. And it's just weird that that's the one family they demand get attention in this nation right now. Why?"

Well. Blake's mother has very publicly expressed her respect for President Trump, at a time which must be very difficult for her. If Trump has seen that video, I would expect he felt considerable sympathy for her suffering and admiration for her courage. It would not be inappropriate to express those sentiments, although it might better be done privately.

Here’s a thought experiment: imagine a person or organization which we’ll call “Trump.” Now imagine that this Trump has been telling blacks that the police are evil racists who deserve no respect and should be resisted at every turn. Suppose that this Trump’s message gained enormous influence among blacks. Now suppose a pro-Trump black man has a physical altercation with police, breaks away and, ignoring the police’s warnings to stop, reaches into his vehicle for possibly a weapon and gets shot. Would it not be an established fact in our shared narrative that this death was Trump’s fault?

Thing I wonder is how long the interviewer's soliloquy was gonna last. Walker clicked off
after only 43 seconds. I'd bet CuteCoop coulda easily made it to a minute before asking the question he'd been answering.

Drago said...

Maybe Walker wanted to get out of there before the DNC showed up to charge him for attending a democrat rally in the form of a non-question speech by Cooper.

I wouldn't pay to attend a democrat rally either.

Walker could have responded that he agrees with the comments of Jacob Blake's mother, Julia Jackson.

Walker hung up on Wisconsin and left us with Foxscam while he went to collect his million from a right wing think tank. Nothing to see here.

Joe Smith said...

Looks like the entitled Vanderbilt spawn lost his signal years ago...

If Trump commented at all on the shooting before an investigation he would have been ripped to shreds.

Good for Walker...fuck 'journalists'.

is there an app to put calls on auto-feed-back loop? and make that whining noise?

From the looks of Cooper's butch hubby, I think he's the catcher.

doctrev said...

Are the people of Wisconsin generally regretting turfing Scott Walker? I'd bet money on it, at this point. What's quite clear is that we need a few more Rittenhouses, with just a bit more training, to clean house nationwide. They're obviously more courageous and effective than the cops are.

If I ever have the misfortune of being in a position like that, or before Congress when they are doing a hearing with witnesses and the "question" drones on and on, and then I am asked to respond, I would say: "I'm sorry, could you repeat the question?"

I would not trust John Nichols' reporting on Scott Walker. A better way to write it: Did Scott Walker get tired of listening to Anderson Cooper's windbaggery?

I wish I could post the .gif of The Dude saying, "I'm sorry, I wasn't listening."

LA_Bob said...

It wasn't a tough question. It wasn't even a question. It was a meandering, meaningless filibuster.

Walker didn't look the least bit intimidated. Annoyed and bored, yes. Intimidated, baloney.

LA_Bob said...

Actually, I kind of wish Walker had hung around to let Cooper finish, and then say, I'm sorry. Was there a question in that pile of words?

And for Pete's sake, we don't need Trump to comment on the Blake shooting (or the Floyd mess. Or Rayshard Brooks. Or Breonna Taylor. Etc, etc). Haven't we had enough of presidents (looking at you, Barack) opining on local matters?

Trump apparently called Blake's mother, but that doesn't seem to register with Cooper.

A fifty second monologue of opinion from Cooper, with scant prospect of an actual question coming forth. Deserved to be hung up on.

Yep, that's how you handle the MSM turn them off or don't bother to answer their gotchas!

One other thing, people like Walker should stop listening to their booking agents. No good will come from being on CNN with any of their anchors. Regardless if your trying to sell books.

I realize this is a snippet, but 95% of that video was Anderson (The Mole) Cooper talking. What was the question again?

I would interrupt.

15 seconds in, he should have said "Anderson, shut up. Now, do you have a question for me, or am I just here to serve as a backdrop while you bloviate?"

"Honest questions take 10 seconds or less to ask. Do you have one, or shall I stop wasting my time here?"

I don’t agree he got a tough question. Whatever Cooper was on about he was on about for 30 seconds and still going when Walker turned him off. That's a response to blather not ducking a question.
